  1. A super purchase, David. Have you ever considered putting together your own book about the system? I know you've devoted a chapter to it in Railways of Telford but just wondered if there was an opening for another book on it?
  2. Very impressive. Some excellent photos too. The snow effect works a treat.
  3. Two cracking little additions, Paul. I very much like the last photo in the above post. Great thread, particularly enjoy going back over the City Goods pictures even now!
  4. Good start and is something that has long appealed to me, inspired by Howl03's City Goods and Mr Nevard's offering. I already own one of the boxes but, sadly, it is used for it's main (pah!) purpose, wrapping paper! :-(
  5. This looks a super start. Great progress. I'd be tempted to add two fold down fiddle sticks so you can run through trains? Also like the consist, loco+coach+brake, as it reminds me of the typical consist at my local preserved line, Telford Steam Railway. Looking forward to seeing more. Great start!
  6. Less really IS more. Excellent work. Operationally, how do you find the ‘fork’ arrangement?
  7. Looking good. I’ve been experimenting with magnets too recently and struggle with the slightly less appealing look. Is it possible to disguise them (or lessen their visual impact) by making them part of a barrow crossing?
  8. Thanks to the sale at Hattons I now also own Katie, to go alongside my Burnley example. She has got big buffers, hasn’t she?!

    Hello again!

Good to see you back JB!
  10. That bottom photo MUST be real, mustn’t it? It’s absolutely spot on: the slight yellowing of the walls, the floor, the weathering on the loco. It’s all top notch.
  11. I've discovered that my initial idea, of using a small wagon repair siding 'somewhere' in the Lilleshall system would be highly unrealistic due to the fact that the wagon repair facility at Lilleshall was somewhat massive. As I find that I much prefer working on more realistic ideas I'm wondering about revisiting the Lawley Village idea, once again compressed (even more so this time), to fit the space given. Brake van rides would be the order of the day, with perhaps a little bit of wagon shuffling into the siding. I'm also beginning to lean towards the idea of using three links, as all trains will be made up of loco + one item of stock. Thoughts?
  12. A new idea, regarding a wagon works - which seems a decent way of incorporating my enjoyment of Parkside wagon kits - seems the way forward. Once I’ve got a more concrete idea in progress i’ll start a new thread.
  13. Thanks for the info David. Much appreciated (although I might have to go more fictional then!). Love this thread.

  15. Almost a year on from the last post, how are things going on this? Quality workmanship that i’d Love to see more of
  16. Does anyone know of any wagon repair facilities on this system? I’m assuming there would be nothing too glamorous. Toying with an idea for a micro fork layout that allow me to combine my core interests of Shropshire railways and Parkside wagon kits! Thanks for any help.
  17. Excellent. Regarding the layouts future, as you say you’ve enjoyed creating a shed layout. Is there potential to revisit some of it and redo the areas you are unhappy with? Rather than start again?
  18. What a pair of stunning layouts. Both incredibly inspirational. How are you finding the 3-links? I'm experimenting with Kadees at the moment but prefer the realistic look of the 3-links.
  19. A simple, two minute job took place this morning. It’s half term so, of course, I’ve come down with a cold. Unable to sleep I decided to tackle a job I’d got planned for later. A trip to the wonderful Trident Trains model shop – near Crewe and Nantwich (usual discalimer, satisfied customer etc) – yesterday saw me purchase a few bits and bobs I needed. One of which was some BR lamps. Not much else to say except it was easy enough to put one on my Oxford Rail Toad. The only slight issue was the need to ease the bracket on the Toad to slip the lamp over the top. Two minutes. Huge improvement.
