  1. I thought it would be something like that. Said in jest. So are the representation of the RIV buffers we see on these samples the same as will be fitted to the production samples? ... and while I'm on (but on a different topic); will the incorrect livery application on the BR/N.E.R. painted ES1 be corrected on the production version? Thanks.
  2. On the back of a Pickfords (BRS) Low Loader? Antar Tank Transporter? Lowmac? In the boot of a Mini? (after Sept, 1959).
  3. Looks like the roof nearest to the tender may be requiring a stronger magnet.
  4. Thanks. The photo's I have in my own collection must be an unrepresentative sample as they show predominantly round cornered windows. Regading the film snow. I always thought the Thompson shown had round windows. Maybe it's my eyes?
  5. Shouldn't most of the maroon versions have rounded corners to the windows? P
  6. As in Felix? (CIA) Yeah, that's it "They don't like it..." (as in Corporal Jones).
  7. And from a few yards further back. A crop from the original, with the numbers showing through. I wonder if Rapido could replicate the sunken rivets? P
  8. Does Yeadons mention its time working in the Notts coalfield when it was fitted with group standard buffers and the number 985 was clearly visible under the paint? Oh! forgot to mention the spark arrester.
  9. Especially if it involves sausage meat. I'll be having a BR green jobby even though they've got the livery wrong.
  10. A known marketing ploy. They'll not have done very well then as most suggestions have received a unanimous thumbs down.
  11. Not a bad bit of marketing by Hornby. Got fifteen pages (and counting) worth of free publicity on RMweb for what is a comparatively minor Warley announcment.
  12. You will always be made welcome at our embassy. (No. 6 Imperial Street, Brizol. Contact the secretary to Ambassador, Henry Overton Wills for an appointment). Prior to full entry, you will of course, first have to undergo a full body search to ensure no Brunel type fireboxes are being smuggled.
  13. Might we see a re-run of the Heljan DP2? Hopefully Accurascale will get there first. THE FUTURE BECKONS by Bill Watson, on Flickr but who needs DP2 or a Deltic. A Bachmann J72 perhaps? These are the two car carriers that were attached/detached from the ASCC at NCL central awaiting positioning into the motorail platform behind the platform. Thanks for posting the phots. Good to make an assessment. I'd have hoped these are pre-pod prototypes but I doubt it. That's a very poor representation of an RIV buffer. Easy to change out for something more accurate but why should that be necessary considering the RRP & claims of accuracy. If between me and LMS models being able to do it, surely a premium manufacturer could manage it. P
  14. The MAT open tierwags regularly worked right into the Fiat factory at Turin. (The Italian Job). Fiats were then imported into the UK via Dover Dunkirk ferry. There is an article with accompanying photographs in trains illustrated. A read through the "cars by rail" thread might be useful.
  15. Ceramic tipped jobs are great. Really useful when soldering too.
  16. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Just popped up on Flickr. Siphon G by Kevin Lane, on Flickr P
  17. Glad you included the question mark. The cynic in me says these little errors maybe the model railway manufacturers version of the everlasting light bulb. Wait for original run, with errors in to sell out; knowing that the same buyers will also buy a corrected second run.
  18. If VAT is to be added? That makes it £20 per item for an incorrectly liveried wagon. Factor in paint, transfers & time if you care about accuracy. Begins to make Mr. MacDonald's kit all the more attractive. Why do manufacturers make simple errors?
  19. Test painting from yesterday a.m. still hasn't dried so it's looking doubtful. As you know, it is coaled. Just enough to get back up to the MPD at Consett.
  20. I once went out with a girl called "Cholmondeley". She would give me a right bollocking when I insisted on calling her Chol-mond-deh-lay. We're still chumley though. Que Arry Henfield.
  21. That'll ave been David Jenkinsons view of railway pronunciation, not the railway-mans view of railway pronunciation. [(depending on what part of the county you hailed from) hail having at least two meanings in this context]
  22. Maybe he looked to the Airfix box art for inspiration? Anywez; should this thread be merged with the 16 ton mineral wagon thread?
