Some raw materials from a trip to Wales 😀 the roof tiles are actually quite easy to break up. Second picture is just slate used as ballast and finally with signs of neglect -

A selection of my weathered stuff, mostly ready to run 00/009. My usual method is to use a coat of Clear to protect the paintwork then brush on a layer of gunk which is then mostly taken off to leave dirt on hard to reach places, thin layers of grime are then airbrushed on and finally various washes and powders to finish

In an effort to modernise the management have acquired a second hand diesel named Zounds, after unloading it is seen on a couple of freight trains. In reality this is a Roco Leo I bought when I first started thinking about 009, it's been repainted but still needs the weathering finishing

At one time the Britannia Loco Society had a pair of Aluminum plates made as they were less vulnerable to theft than brass ones, which were painted black and used when the loco was out of use

I use ash from unused disposable barbecues, it's sieved to give different sizes and glued down in the normal way with diluted PVA
