  1. Nice shots, I'm really looking forward to Saturday morning and finding out what she is like to handle, I see my fireman for the trip has already familiarised himself (visible in the bottom photo)
  2. For those interested you can possibly two west country's next week one working off each end. In addition on Monday 14 Royal Scott will start running in assuming all goes to plan.
  3. Nice photos Gareth. Post away. Was there any sign of Royal Scot when you were at Kidder? - looking forward to driving that apart from trying to get to the middle engine which I understand is accessed over the bogie!
  4. The railway owns the land till just before Burlish halt. Recently the line has been in discussions with Rail Safety Solutions about them using the spur for training purposes, they will be using the trackbed initially up to Mount Pleasant tunnel for training new track workers in laying and lifting track. It means some of our staff will get training and as I understand it we will get use of the track at weekends. As 2968 says though the costs of maintaining 16 miles are enough. This winter we need to replace a section on Eardington bank. Rail last time i knew was £54,000 per half mile, More work is needed on the viaducts at Bewdley - last year we spent around £250,000 on 2 arches, work is needed on Borle and Falling Sands viaducts; and that's just standing still. Of course there is also the new buffet to go up at Bridgnorth and other improvements, although those for the accommodation will take longer.
  5. Glad Iain looked after you so well.
  6. Fab photos, it always seems that the rear of this building was not often photographed. Shame there are no plans of the building
  7. Kev does look a bit serious in the photo, why there no idea as its just the Bridgnorth side of Vicky bridge and he is an easy going bloke.
  8. A cheeky question, on if the Fowler 2-6-2 is still coming along?
  9. My local Sainsbury's normally gets one copy, although the LN has not appeared yet, cant wait for the A1/A2
  10. By 1964 when seen at Bath it certainly was lined. The shots I have seen in 1961 are all too dirty. I have seen some plain livery, but agree it is likely to have been lined
  11. Now we just have to hope Geoff had started on something like a chassis for a V3
  12. I'm looking forward to seeing the Fowler 2-6-2, sounds really interesting
  13. Great work, I look forward to the 4f if only to give me the confidence to tackle mine.
  14. That was my understanding of the idea behind it. I have now dug out most of the etchings needed for this project First here are the frames, I'm afraid they are hand drawn artwork and one of my early ones. Sill you get the idea Here next is the body, designed to fold up as much as possible Finally for now the tender body. I decided to do a Fowler 3500 gallon tender as I think the engines would have been given these to improve availability, well its my excuse. This etch was definatley one that was a try too far. I attempted to get the whole of the tender front to fold up, but it does not quite work as will be seen. The one I forgot to dig out, which I do like are the tender frames. I hope to make a start on building the frames and body very soon
  15. Sorry this is the file i meant to post and the right way round which on my pc is but when uploaded is the wrong way. Hopefully not a portent of things to come.
  16. Thanks for the interest in this. Here is the original GA that sparked my interest. Not sure if Id say it was a pure N, but I can understand what you mean From that I needed to work out what the frames and valve gear might look like and got to this: Sorry for the dodgy drawing. Next came drawing the artwork which I don't have being at the excellent Grainge and Hodder, who are so forgiving for my poor artwork. I will dig out the etches tomorrow and then aim to make a start on construction over Easter. I have made a number of assumptions and changes so it has a Fowler tender rather than Johnson tender and the chimney is a S&DJR 7F chimney, only time will tell if that is a mistake. Duncan
  17. Well here goes nothing. I have needed an excuse to build something and my dearly beloved has been telling me for ages I needed to pick up a soldering Iron again after 4 or so years. I know that many are doing scratch builds or kits that will be lovely. I'm not sure if this will be lovely but it will be different and hopefully not a disaster. The background to this is I have always had an interest in locos that were not built and have done a number of sets of etchings, but then got no further. As many of you will know in 191/ 18 when thoughts turned to what would happen with the railways after the war there was a suggestion of nationalisation. The members of the Association of Railway Locomotive Engineers in 1917 and 1918 discussed possible engines that might have formed the basis of standard locomotives. This body had among its members the key superintendents of railways in both the UK and Ireland. One of the proposals which emerged was for a 2-6-0, which looked to all intense purposes in the same family as the S&D 2-8-0. This is a placeholder as I will build this over the next few months. I started with a drawing of the valve gear and then set forth to make some etchings. I will see if I can dig out the artwork which was drawn the old fashioned way and was only my second ever attempt (I have no idea if will go together) So I guess this is part kit build and part scratch build, though sadly not to the quality of some of like Jazz.
  18. hey, that straight sided tender is a difficult one to get hold of so at that price sounds good for me. Wouldn't it be great if they did a loco that had been a kit type but not ready to run.
  19. Hi Both, I have mislaid Dave' s address and will post on. Chris I will e mail a copy and will get round to those others you were after (sorry pressure of work/ family and railway commitments) I have also had a look through my negs and sadly have none of that signal. Duncan
  20. If you do a model of Bailey Gate I have done drawings of the main building and signal box if of any use?
  21. Wow, this really shows that the engine can be converted into the others, and that Hornby could do the others. The modelling is lovely, are you planning on altering the cabs?
  22. Hi, Noting the comments on the Fowler 2-6-2 are there any plans for those etches to be released more generally / will chassis be available separately?
  23. Seriously nice, it captures perfectly the look of these engines.
  24. How easy would it be to convert a D11 to the Scottish D11/2 variety?
