    The gnome can't be ar8ed talking to the shoe shop manager anymore, so he walks out of the shop and goes and finds a park to sit down in.

      The show shop manager is, of course, as deaf as a post. The sign in the shop "Don't waste tie talking to the manager as he is deaf" was of no bebefit since the gnome couldn't read English, being fluent only oin Greek, Manadrin and an obscure dialect of Punjabi.
