  1. I've just bought a can of Ford Pine Green which is a very dark olive green. Might be too dark for SR Olive Green though. Regards
  2. Thanks for that. I was about to amend my post to include an eBay link http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xbachmann+horse+box&_nkw=Bachmann+horse+box&_sacat=0 Regards
  3. Is this model still available? Regards
  4. Thank you for that. A loco would probably be one of Newton Heath's then. Regards
  5. The Manchester district had one of these (the number is on the thread somewhere), but does anybody know where in Manchester it was based? I ask because it might have a bearing on which loco(s) might be used to propel it. Regards
  6. Like Larry I've not attempted to dismantle my copy, but I have found that a credit card or similar run around the body works well on Bachmann dmus. I use an old AA membership card. HTH, regards
  7. I'm happy to pre-order one but I can't find any reference to liveries. Or have I got senior again? Regards
  8. The issue of the chassis is a comedy of errors. I thought I'd read somewhere that the JE kit was body only. I was wrong, dead wrong. But ... I went and bought the SEF chassis because I thought I was right! The JE chassis doesn't lend itself to the use of Comet or Exactoscale chassis jigs so I made it up without the benefit of those and ended up with a twisted chassis. Now I need to unsolder the chassis and try again, but there are other difficulties which are preventing me from getting back to it. Perhaps this weekend I will forgo the St Albans show and do some modelling. Regards
  9. I would imagine that the dimensional issues don't matter too much if they match the body, but I was going to put it underneath the Judith Edge kit. I think I'll replace it with the AGW chassis LM1-54. While I can understand and sympathise with your attitude for me the inaccuracies are an irritant! Nice build though, like your model lots. Regards
  10. Going back to the SEF N5 chassis, I bought one of these at Scaleforum and found that the wheelbase was very wrong. Regards
  11. I know that these engines could be seen all over the GW system, but my particular memories are of Oswestry in around 62-63. By then the Cambrian had been re-org'd into the LMR and that region ran them, quite often, with an autotrailer and an intermediate trailer. Are there an plans to produce these coaches? Hope so! Regards
  12. I am amazed, utterly amazed, by the transformation, but I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't have been better to start from scratch! Regards
  13. A tentative answer to my question might be the High Level Low Rider. Does anyone have any experience of fitting this kit to this model? Regards
  14. Are there any alternatives to the Bachmann motor block? Regards
  15. One of my whinges about Bachmann new releases is the concentration on locomotives but not the things they pull. Perhaps a reversion to the 'train set' concept would resolve this. It needn't be too much for the NRM to organise, they have the resources. The LYR tank could have come out with four LYR carriages for example. I would certainly have bought that, if only because it would be a nice thing to have. The Ivatt 2-6-2T could easily be marketed with two or three push-pull coaches and such a thing would be a definite purchase for me. Similarly for freight, the LYR tank, very much a mixed traffic type, could be marketed with an LYR brake van and a few PO wagons from the LYR area and again the Ivatt with a brake van and some wagons/vans. I could add more and more ... Regards
  16. Will it be possible to buy just the body rather than the entire model? Regards
  17. See http://www.southernregionmodels.co.uk/2014/07/508-313-etc-masters-first-pictures/ Regards
  18. The last time I saw one was at Appleby in 1966 I think. It was on the afternoon pick up. Arrived from Carlisle with a brakevan in tow and left south with an additional mineral. Picking were poor by that time, it was the only steam engine seen all afternoon. Regards
  19. 29 pages, 708 replies and no model! Is this a record for RMweb? Regards
  20. I think that if Kernow brought out the three carriage demu than I would be very tempted, not sure what livery scheme though, probably blue/grey or NSE. Regards
  21. IIRC the first ten 8Fs had a boiler which was identical to the Stanier mogul. After this the 8Fs firebox was extended to form a combustion chamber and the boiler barrel shortened to suit by shortening the parallel section. Might be wrong mind ... Regards
  22. I'm beginning to get the impression that Bachmann announcements owe more to the need for publicity than anything else. The company appears not to have the design and production capacity to fulfil its promises. Regards
  23. Or that ARC would have been forthcoming with drawing and photo sources for the non-industrial specialist. Still, it's done now, but I can't help but wonder just what sort of return on the investment the potential investor would have and just what sort of guarantees would be forthcoming to stop the investor turning into a donor. Regards
  24. Unlike some I've got better things to do watch these mega threads develop. Mostly they are just froth and are particularly boring. I simply noticed that 'LNWRmodeller' put in his twopenneth and as he usually has some pertinent points to make I took an interest. Then I noticed the price attached to the model. Yes there was life before BR and I too can remember locos carriages and wagons in pre-nationalisation liveries, but the point is that pre-nationalisation is a minority interest nowadays and this loco is priced well over the normal asking price for such an item. Also I would suggest, with respect, that not too many people will want to model the 'Plant Centenarian' train. 'Micklner' in his post above makes a number of good points.
  25. £180! And this for a loco that's not really suitable for the BR period. I wish Bachmann well with this venture, but ... Regards
