  1. Oh dear, that's a blow. Perhaps I'll just put it to one side and let it accumulate eBay £. From hero to zero in 9 hours or so 😫
  2. Received mine this morning, ever so good, really pleased. I bit more research in the AGW catalogue shows that the wheels are 4844 3'8" 12 spoke I/L, and the wheelbase is 5' 9" + 5' 3" so rods could be 4M121 for the WD 2-8-0 although they might be a bit chunky and need a bit of filing to reduce their height. I note from an earlier post that Judith Edge could be persuaded to make the chassis of her complete kit available, what's not to like?
  3. Most of the tests were to do with the overhead. It used to be a standing joke about how easy it was to bring it down! Never saw a Deltic in Manchester and anyway the production ones were too late for Styal line testing. Why would you put DE on a line to test the overhead? Doesn't make sense to me. I agree with others about the suitability of the Styal loop for high speed running. From personal experience the passenger would get jogged about even on a dmu suburban service.
  4. Yesterday I received an email from Rails saying that mine had been posted. I really can't remember ordering one (which isn't the same as saying it isn't welcome). The money has gone out of my account and I note that AGW does appropriate wheels for P4. All of which is good; pleased.

  6. Thinking about an EM/ P4 conversion, are the wheels actually powered by the coupling rods or are the rods cosmetic and the wheels powered by a gearbox?
  7. I model in P4. I have found that I can't build wagon kits square enough for them to run unless they're compensated. RTR wagons are fine because they're square as bought and are a serious pita to compensate. I use 3 point compensation because it's simpler than springs and at least as good. Use MJT compensation units, they're better than the S4Soc ones. Mansplaining done.
  8. I wouldn't be at all surprised if a number of railways cut back on their mileage. Many of them are far too long and are unnecessarily expensive to run. The average, non-railway enthusiast customer will be content with a 5 to 7 mile ride each way though it would help if there was something of interest at both ends of the line.

  10. OK so Alan Gibson 4007 Lowmac wheels should do it providing the axles are 2mm diameter. Thanks for that most helpful.
  11. Can you offer any insights as to the ease of conversion to EM/P4, please. A photo of the underside of the bogies might do it. The Wikipedia page doesn't mention the wheel diameter this might also help.
  12. https://www.sdrt.org/edington-model-railway-exhibition/ Not much detail here. Can anyone add something?
  13. Have the bogies been changed for this new release?
  14. One of the things about Clone Wars and Bad Batch is that the intended young audience didn't approach the subject with preconceptions. This enabled the writers to be much more imaginative than usual as the series wore on. They're worth a watch
  15. I have enjoyed Andor and I'm watching it again. The quality is generally very good although the sub-plot about stealing the pay-roll was a bit iffy. A galaxy wide civilisation is not going to pay its military in cash by Wells-Fargo starship. Silly that one. It is a very good, exceptionally good, depiction of a truly nasty militaristic regime and not a jedi in sight. One of the best, perhaps the best, of the Star Wars films.
  16. https://www.moveelectric.com/e-cars/new-vauxhall-astra-electric-arrive-258-mile-range-and-estate-variant £36k for a supermini? Taking the mick.
  17. Absolutely with 'boxbrownie ' on this. I'm currently using Waze on the phone and although it isn't perfect it's more than good enough. Who needs an expensive infotainment system when you've got a smartphone? All you need is Bluetooth speakers!
  18. What the catering arrangements for the show?
  19. Last year there was an issue with refreshments, has this been resolved, please.
  20. I went on Saturday and enjoyed it immensely. I think the new exhibition team did really well for their first time, the best Scaleforum since Leatherhead, the best by far. Well done to them.
  21. Gee whizz! Now that's what I call a rant! Wow! That sort of anti-social behaviour is, I believe, fairly typical of Facebook users which is precisely why nobody in the club wants to use it. When I clicked on Mr Horn's link Facebook demanded that I log in or create a new account. No thanks. Actually I do have three email accounts although one is unused and has been for a number of years now. I'm typing this an a smartphone which used more as data terminal than a phone. I use it to search the Internet, read books, watch films, order groceries, medication, books , dvds/bluerays & modeling supplies. I do Zoom/WhatsApp video calls on it, use it as a SatNav and pretty well all else which is available on the Internet. It also acts as a very capable point and shoot camera. See the photo below which I took yesterday. But no, I keep away from social media and your post above very eloquently says why.
