  1. Just got back from some retail therapy at The Hobby Shop at Faversham and have just noticed the one of the items purchased, a Fleischmann HO coach pack, was labelled MADE IN VIETNAM. First such train model I've encountered made in Vietnam

  4. Yesterday I popped over to The Hobby Shop at Faversham to collect a LS Models SNCF 2-car DMU which I pre-ordered on July 7, 2010. Yes, ordered in 2010, 6 1/2 years ago!!

  8. Just having a clearout in my lock-up garage and found some stuff wrapped in pages of the Daily Mail dated May 29. 1978 with full-page advert for Vauxhall Chevette Hatchback at prices from £2291 to £2920 including fitted front seat belts, car tax and VAT at 8%

  9. Back on November 10, 2008 (yes, 2008!!!) I ordered a couple of LS Models Le Mistral TEE coach packs which, believe it or not, have just been released by LS Models, only a wait of just over six years!!!

  17. This time last year was on my way to Coventry to attend the Bachmann Collectors presentation at the Coventry Transport Museum. Where has the year gone??

Been a bit windy down here in the far SouthEast (95mph winds reported at Dover and Dungeness "B" had to shut down reactors following a power cut) but, surprise, surprise, ParcelForce delivered a parcel from Model Junction just after 10.00am - earlier than normal. Postie also delivered some mail by 10.30am...

  19. Just off on the HighSpeed to London to attend a Seminar/Reception at Japanese Embassy to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the "Chosu Five" in the UK. One of those five became known as the "Father of Japanese Railways".

  20. Off soon to Model Railway Club in London for Japanese Railway Society AGM. Leave house at 11.50, Hi-speed to St. Pancras, arrice at MRC at 13.10. Can't be bad, all thanks to HS1 and Japanese-built 395s!!

  21. On Thursday afternoon I reported that my EE/Orange internet router had given up the ghost. A new router was promised within 4/5 working days. The new router arrived today. Fantastic service....

      Our local library is also a kindergarden and internet cafe. It also houses the local information centre. Peace and quiet for research or study? Forget it!

  23. Yippee... Making use of Express Models DCC Power Bus Kit and Peco Power Feed Joiners finally converted by 24ft x 8ft analogue test track to DCC without the need for a soldering iron. Happy Bunny

  24. For the last few years I've been making regular visits to the Hobby Shop at Faversham for my retail therapy fixes but today was different. It was the first time ever that I returned home without any new stock produced by the main UK railway brands. Just hope that this sad siyuation does not continue much longer as the shops we support can't survive without new stock for sale.   25. Just got back from weekly shop at Sainsburys. Got some sultanas which appeared in new packaging with the remark "produce of China". Previously sultanas always came from Turkey. Is there anything that China does not produce?

      Have you seen the Cadbury chocolate bars that says 'produced under licence in the EU'. I'm told there are a number of factories doing Cadbury stuff now and one is in the far east
