  1. Given that this thread had to be created because the Black Country Blues thread got overloaded, is there an appetite amongst the members for a get together at the BCM, perhaps a group discount could be arranged? If there is, might I be allowed to arrange it?
  2. Fire - The Crazy World of Arthur Brown
  3. Restricted International Water-based paints, wood varnishes and enamels The items must be securely closed and placed in a leak-proof liner, such as a sealed polythene bag, so that any inadvertent leakage is contained within the outer packaging. Surround with absorbent material such as newspaper and sufficient cushioning material to protect each item from damage. Volume per item should not exceed 150ml. No more than four items can be sent in any one package. The sender’s name and return address must be clearly visible on the outer packaging. From Royal Mail web site. All solvent based paint is prohibited without exception.
  4. Eleventh Earl Of Mar - Genesis
  5. Bells for fire alarms, red, were 8%, the same bells for burglar alarms, grey, were 25%. Because you had to be rich to have anything worth stealing.
  6. The Seep wire will fit the existing hole with a bit of wriggle room to spare. To measure small holes, find a drill (or bit of wire) which just fits, then use a micrometer to check the drill diameter.
  7. Sad Eyes - Bruce Springsteen
  8. At decimalisation the smallest coin was 1/2p. I reckon prices have increased 20-fold since then. There is a good case for abolishing the "copper" coins and making 5p the smallest in circulation
  9. It's Too Late - Carol King
  10. Last Chance on the Stairway - Duran Duran
  11. Brilliant. Withdraw all coins below 50p (£1/2).
  12. I quite agree jjb, however it's not about income, it's about Breeding. 2nd class is quite adequate for those who have been successful in Trade.
  13. All this sort of thing is, sadly, a triumph for the socialist great unwashed majority who, frankly are getting above themselves. First Class accommodation is an essential provision for the chaps who run The Empire, God knows, keeping the fuzzy-wuzzys on-task in the mines, fields and factories is a hard enough job without having to suffer the ignominy of travelling with them. I say an Act of Parliament should be passed to require the TOCs to provide proper First Class carriages, complete with anti-macassars, table dining service with china tableware and silver cutlery, physically separated from third, on all trains forthwith. Yours Wing Commander Bingo Bollox (retired)
  14. Switches for cdu's have to have momentary contacts, switches for stall type need to be the permanent type, this is a fundamental difference unless there is some clever circuitry which detects the type of motor it's connected to.
  15. First it says that it's for Tortoise and stall motors, but later it refers to cdu's. Perhaps some confusion, unless there are two versions?
  16. Ratio kit 466 has been in production for over 40 years. It is a little bit old school but can still be the basis for good models with a bit of care. The signal arms themselves are perhaps the worst bit as the large glazed areas in the spectacle frames are just represented by opaque plastic. Better substitute with etched brass arms.
  17. Celebrated Dad's birthday a day early today because there is a certain get-together tomorrow. Enjoyed the best of the day before taking him back to his care home. Just managed to get the lawns mown in the twilight before the rain started. It is now quite pississtant. Looking forward to putting some faces to some names tomorrow.
  18. Love To Love You Baby - Donna Summer
  19. Today's smart phones don't have fm reception. They do have internet radio, which is fine if you are in wifi range, but could get expensive if using 4G for any length of time.
  20. Switch mode PSUs are unnecessarily complex. They do not survive use with inductive loads such as solenoid point motors. Any inefficiency will just warm the railway room up a bit. Scarcely noticeable in the grand scheme of things.
