  1. the most interesting one however was at Pinton which had Sleights East distant (a two aspect colour light) on its starter. When Pinxton starter was on, Sleights colour lights weren't lit. when Pinxton's starter was off, it showed a black aspect (lens painted over) and Sleights distant lit up yellow! when Sleights cleared its starter (a colour light) then the distant changed to Green.............. when Pinxton put his start back on, the lights went out and Pinxtons starter showed a red aspect.
  2. just noticed 66090 as the first I've seen with a visible poorer exterior, always though it quite remarkable that the Class 66 despite nearing 20 years old, still look pretty good. No idea what their internal qualities are likes, but to be fair for 15-20 year old locos, they don't look too bad.......................?
  3. https://www.rcts.org.uk/features/archive/search.htm?company=&subtype=&class=&location=Barrow+shed&srch=barrow&page=0 hope the link works, its an RCTS pic inside Barrow, could anyone confirm please whether this is inslide Barrow?
  4. most helpful, so it would have been after 1973 then that the two road shed was used? RE the yellow crew buses, would that be the referrance I read to the depot being used as a p-way depot?? or was that the two road shed??? any ideas when both were abandoned.....
  5. A date of November 1971 has been mentioned for closure of the depot buildings? Would that sound about right?
  6. Clive, any shots of them on the old two track depot? did the def use that, I read it was used as a Pway depot for a while? What was that building seen in some pics of locos on Bedford in the 1980s??? A single track looking building???
  7. seeing the 27s in there I guess would be 1964 time, where exactly was the stabling point after they ceased using the former shed building?
  8. as soon as I posted my question I had a quick look and indeed it seems to still be standing.......................
  9. Further to my post re Walsall shed, the same is also true of Bedford shed, it had a small allocation of Class 27s for a while, but finding pics of them on shed is tough.......... is the building still standing?
  10. I've bought a locomans Log that hopefully may shed some light on the depot, the Walsall book sounds good.
  11. Evening, after an exhaustive search of flickr/Google/colour rail/etc etc etc, I've been unable to find any pics of the shed in DMU days......... other a view in the LMS sheds book, of the depot full of DMUs, has anyone got one or could point me in the direction of one please?

  17. Hi, would anyone happen to know a date for when Cockshute actually ceased to stable locos on the site??? I've seen pics of an 08 and 56 inside the former wash house as late as 1988, so obviously it was sometime after that and by 1990 the rails were lifted, so may be 1989? But when exactly???
  18. Hi Picked this up a week ago and it has Kirkby in Ashfield listed in it so that puts it at no later than 1970 ish but the book proclaims to be the fifth edition.... has any see/got any of the previous four editions?

  21. Looking the Quail for Stoke, would loco's stabling in the area have stabled in "London North Western Yard" after the closure of Cockshute?
  22. Morning, looking at Flickr, it seems the "New" shed was closed by 1972/3 when the lines were buffer stopped, but does any one know when the former wash house was vacated (building on the right) http://abrail.co.uk/Images/Stoke%20Cockshute%20July%203rd%20%201990%20Philip%20Stuart.jpg by 1990 all of the track had gone in this pic. THus I wonder when loco stabling at that sight stopped?
