  1. What about the pound above, how do you drain that and keep it drained? Every gate I've seen leaks, some quite badly, normally it doesn't matter as the filling/emptying rates are much higher than the leaks Maybe to recover the Dali & the bridge remains they should drain Chesapeake Bay?😄
  2. Even then it wouldn't be totally dry as there is always leakage through the closed gate. Maybe it has been dammed to make a dry area for recovery
  3. If I turned mine full up I would probably shake my fillings out with a nice bit of Bach's organ works.😄 Or a bit of Black Sabbath or other heavy rock. I haven't even got the 200W sub woofer connected! I've got a couple of bookshelf speakers connected to a class D amp for music when I'm in the railway room.
  4. Talking about $3billion total cost. That's a lot of thread drift.............😕
  5. And their assets are slowly depleting year on year with apparently no income. Unfortunately they are on "Micro Accounts"* which show little detail on what's going on. * due to the small size of the business they are classed as a 'micro' company and don't have to provide fully audited accounts. (The amount of cash in the business, right from the start was below the normal threshold for compulsory VAT registration) I'm sure we were doing more business with our B&B than they appear to be doing.🙂
  6. The "Dockers Umbrella" gives you the opportunity of having a level crossing under a railway, as well as tracks in the roadway.
  7. Probably due to those that are good at videoing aren't railway experts and railway experts aren't good at videoing🙂 I'm rubbish at both...........☹️
  8. Did the Midland ever use centre pivot or somersault signals? We need a Midland signal expert.
  9. The company is still in business (just?), so maybe a county court jusgement against them for the money? You could start with a solicitors letter and see what happens. Looking at the company accounts which are pretty slim, going into receivership seems a possibility if anyone gets a judgement against them.
  10. You can't patent an idea if it is in the public domain.
  11. But not patentable because the idea isn't new. Anyone can make one and plenty have - see YouTube.
  12. More people get their news from Social Media these days. That makes the BBC reporting look so professional and above reproach. I agree with the comments about poor standards but that is pervading many terrestial broadcasters these days as well as social media. One of the problems with the Beeb is the swingeing cuts forced on them by governments over the years, this has caused major cuts to many services including news rooms If you want to see really bad news, look at the local text news service. Its full of spelling , punctuation & grammar errors as well as missing sentences or paragraphs, making it unintelligible at times. They are required to by the government to "buy in" content and I assume that may also mean news as noted by much US content coming from CBS (their "US partner" )
  13. Watlington* had a 57XX allocated on the 31st Dec 1947 and the layout seems too complicated for a Railmotor to service. *Sub to SLO It's user maintained, anyone can do it, so two people with differing views can upload input to the same topic. I did a change a couple of months ago to a music entry where a blatantly incorrect record number was given. (there was photographic evidence on Discogs that it was wrong)
  14. The deer there are totally habituated to humans and constantly wander amongst them. Seeing them shelter along with the natives is quite amusing.
  15. Exchange on a chat page in the US: Isn't education wonderful ☹️
  16. These days there does not seem to be a paid version of Google Earth Pro You can download data from it for any use, so possibly could be used for Satnavs?
  17. Not so simples No oil coming out at all when gently squeezed = no good. The first one I had lasted a very long time, none of the recent ones have The plastic on the later ones had lost its flexibility. I did use branded ones.
  18. They do have a small contingent (about 4) based in Washington, so a short road trip to Baltimore but they usually cover the political side of thenews, maybe the Key bridge is below their remit?.
  19. I've found over time that those squeezy hypo type devices eventually split, causing the remaining lube to go everywhere, I've used branded and unbranded and they are all the same. My latest one is from Peter's Spares and it is a squeezy bottle with fine needle type nozzle. Unfortunately not listed on their site know.
  20. What tosh The Beeb wouldn't use CBS for a UK story They, like other news broadcasters, have to rely on other sources for much of the material they use and it is normally done on trust. Maybe the Beeb should send their own correspondent, at great cost, to cover the story directly? Mistakes are fairly common in the news industry. Have you listened to any UK commercial radio stations recently? The news bulletins on there are pretty dire.
  21. Typical critism of the Beeb They will have got the info (probably) from CBS, I wouldn't expect the Beeb to know any different.
  22. The crane has arrived: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-68693499
