  1. These wagons were actually announce long before last year. When Dapol first announced they were going to do 0-gauge wagons these were on the original list of proposed wagons but then everything went quiet. It's taken a few years but here they are at last I hope they are yet another success for them they have done a lot to make 0-gauge the success it is today.
  2. I forgot to add I have a slight tilt on my front room floor my Dapol HAA wagons no roller bearings fitted will happily roll along 4 yards of track without any persuasion.....
  3. Lubricate the bearings you have I doubt spending a fortune on roller bearings of any type will make any noticeable difference......
  4. It's always the same with DCC sound fitted locos they are not fitted in China. I believe they are fitted here in the UK by DCC supply who also carry out Dapol's repairs, spares and after sales service.
  5. The LNER build quite a few of them and used them to they were called the Class 06. I dont know what was different about them if anything was at all I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can correct me though. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Class_O6
  6. Dont you mean once the coronavirus has gone away. I think it could be a while before we see anything come out of the far east..
  7. Read the small print though as excited as I am nothing is set in stone yet .... I for one wont be parting with any cash until I can guarantee a full set will drop on my doorstep until the next morning though...
  8. Sorry I sent the wrong link it should have been this but still not straw though. https://fox-transfers.co.uk/containers-conflat-a-full-livery-pack Have you tried Old time workshop they do a set of conflat and container ones I'm not sure if they are Straw though.
  9. Fox transfers do a sheet you wont get much better or cheaper for the price either. This does wagons and the container. https://fox-transfers.co.uk/containers-conflat-a-full-livery-pack-59296
  10. In a nutshell yes it will I even run my Heljan class 37 diesels up and down a few yards of track with mine. I have never had it cut out on me yet.
  11. Jeff this was debated on WT a while ago the outcome was that the best kit is the Snowhill now Roxey model. The Oakville isn't an easy build straight from the box. There is also an online build of the JLTRT one on WT but this was the original kit before upgrading had been done to correct a few faults.
  12. I'm sure they will be with us very soon I thought late January/ early February was the latest ETA. All good things are worth waiting for though. Until they make everything in the UK there will always be a wait just simple logistics cause delays....
  13. I'm guessing it will look and sound something similar to this YouTube video.
  14. Look on the Yoochoos website. They have a solution for smoke I'm guessing it's not brilliant but better than nothing. It's a fairly easy job to do if you follow their guide. See link below I hope it helps. https://www.youchoos.co.uk/Index-Resource.php?L1=Guides&Item=DapolO08
  15. Slaters hornbock dimensions are on the back page of their price list which is downloadable on their website.
  16. Have you seen the Peco LK-80 kit? Whilst it's not identical to what you are looking for it's very modern in looks and highly versatile in that you can add to it in length and width.
  17. Welcome to the madhouse lol. You wont regret the change. Although as a few others have said you will miss the stock variety but that changes month by month with new announced models. Dont try to run before you can walk though there are a great many RTR brake Van's and plenty of plastic kit ones. Brass models need a few extra tools to make them. I'm guessing you can solder though so that's one big hurdle not to worry about.
  18. Look at the price for size of 00 models now it's not that bad. An average 00 gauge 12ton van is now around £20-25 in 0 it's around £40-45 RTR a good kit is slightly less. As for track it depends on your abilities and time you have spare. But in all honesty there are not huge savings in costs. By the time you add hours spent and tooling you break even unless you need something super accurate RTR track is a perfect way to start. Look at the likes of Hattons, Rails or Sheffield and Tower models for your bargain track. Is almost always heavily discounted and often 10-20% below list price. What era are you into Simon? Oh and welcome to the world of 0 gauge. The only thing you will miss is the availability of certain stock but that is changing month by month with new announced things to come.
  19. It's not 0-gauge but these Gauge 1 models have some of the best RTR smoke around.
  20. I hate to admit it but unfortunately I dont think planning a kit for a HST set today is a good idea. People have become to used to buying out of the box and settling for what they get. The old story of space also seems to have gone I have seen many people buying rakes of 30 or more HAA wagons and running them on layouts now. With Dapols new Class 66 in the wings I'm sure it's only a matter of time before someone does such a 125 set be it a 4,5 or more set. I personally would by one just as a shelf queen it's such an important part of my railway history... Oh and today it would have to be in LNER or Scotrail livery
  21. To add more fuel to the fire a "Drawing" of the real thing probably won't help you build the kit. I have a book of BR wagon drawings in a PDF form they are not highly detailed drawings but line drawings from the Barrowmore Model Railway group. Someone published a link to the drawings a few years ago. There are lots of other line drawings that may be useful there to. Going back to the wagon drawings it states the size over jounrnals not the distance between frames so as our wheels vary from manufacturer to manufacturer you will have to set them to suit as thedman (sorry I dint know your real name) has pointed out above. Here is a link to the page with all the drawing books i hope they help someone somehow. http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk/Prototype.html
  22. It's a board clipped over the lamp iron that describes the history of the loco if I remember rightly...
  23. I can reccomend the Pete Roles parts as I have used these on my MOK 14/48xx kits before.
  24. Not my photo but I found this which shows the connections perfectly. I hope it helps. The photo came from this site which explains exactly how it all connects and works. If the photo infringes any copywriter mods please remove it the photo is 2/3 of the way down the page linked http://citytransport.info/Steam-MU.htm
  25. Unfortunately that's one thing I dont have all the times I visited Didcot it was either in or out of the shed and not joined to anything unfortunately I do know that the object under the box is an electric connection that joins the loco to the trailer electrically though there is a mechanical connection via the mechanism that has a chain on between the steam heating pipe and the coupling it may be for the regulator but I stand corrected if I'm wrong.
