  1. Given they are supposed to arrive in July, he can't have had enough time to do anything. These units have probably been in production for sometime, so I think you will have to reconcile yourself to the fact they are likely to be same standard as those already delivered. In any case, Hornbys record on amending existing products is not very good, but we can hope that they are picking up on the comments for future models. We can be heartened that Roger Canham does seem to be listening and taking action (ref lower prices thread)
  2. Yes seems there available at full price. Shame if you thought you'd preorder from the big dealers to make sure you got one......in most cases you are still waiting!
  3. Wroclaw, staying with the Polish theme and home to a very extensive tram system? Interesting history too, formerly known as Breslau until the red army occupied it and Silesia became part of Poland instead of Germany
  4. Ayr. Home of the Scottish Grand National, continuing the horse theme
  5. Greenock Princess Pier, closed to normal traffic in 1950s I think but used by boat trains into the sixties. The descent into which, from the Renfrewshire heights must have been interesting with scenic views over the Clyde. One of the lines I wished I had travelled on
  6. Euston........the end of the WCML
  7. Yarmouth, as in the Isle of Wight one
  8. Kilmalcolm , stupidly shut down in 1981
  9. East Kilbride, famed for its many roundabouts
  10. Norwich, where the quiz of the week used to come from
  11. Kirkcaldy, home of linoleum(when we still had industry)
  12. Yes they test locos before despatch which is actually quite time consuming when you consider the various types of packaging employed and the ease or otherwise of removing the model. Still this is a valuable service and they should be commended for this action. As far as I am aware it's only Hereford that do this.
  13. It seems to be a very low key launch from Bachmann, perhaps because its the 2nd iteration of an existing model they didn't get quite right. What puzzles me is the seeming lack of a non DCC model, or have I missed something?
  14. I got the Hammant and Morgan versions. They don't run hot, but I find them very useful running my large loft layout. Mind you I also think that this as something to do with the type of material used in loco wheels and rails. Certainly models sourced in then last 10-15 years seem better than 1980s Hornby ones.

    Dapol 'Western'

Yes this really looks a beauty . While I don't need one , it is a model that has the WOW factor which may make me succomb to a Maroon version, or should it be the blue..... Congratulations to Dapol Dave and all those that assisted in the production of the model too. Truly "Design Clever" and with the interaction with the forum that others manufacturers belatedly are trying to catch up on, Marketing Clever too!
  16. Great news . Well done Dapol. I like the complete honesty as well. Clearly the delay to the21/29 has worked in our favour. Clearly an example of "Schedule Clever"Looking forward to running it with my other mu's. I assume it will have nem couplings?
  17. Thanks for update. Enjoy reading them. I'll have a bet the next new tram is a brush car
  18. Shame they used us as testers!
  19. Pat Hammonds books also show some prototypes including J36 0-6-0, V2, Prairie Tank and I think an N7
  20. Lets face it Mags seldom give anything other than positive reviews. However I do agree that pics in RM and HM look very good . What surprised me in HM review was that it comments on the 4 windows that let light into the passage between the two cabs and says" Bachmann has gone to the trouble of illuminating this area and installing basic interior detailing too". Was this area lit up on the real thing when running?
  21. Great pics. Thanks very much guys. On the full yellow ends question, I don't know exactly but my reasoning is as follows.Br blue came in in 1966. That involved full yellow ends, so would full yellow ends not be applied from that date? So this would give 1966-August 1968 to have full yellow ended green or blue diesels running with steam. Is this correct?
  22. Thanks Dibber . I appreciate you must report as you find although it might have been useful for one of the mags to look more closely into the issues once difficulties were being reported in various forums, not least on here. Looking forward to the next issue of Model Rail on how to improve the VEP.
  23. Exactly! While its good they have made corrections- they must have found something to correct! So where's the offer to replace for the guys that have already shelled out £132 for one of these units. Similar to the class 31 chassis episode where those in the know can request replacement- but no general announcement. Very economical with the truth and I think quite shoddy! SAC it won't be big news in the model railway press as I can't remember any of them remarking on the initial problems, despite your best efforts. I think a sad reflection on the model rail press who I still look at as being manufacturer orientated.
  24. Indeed I was specifically referring to Steves issues. I know SAC has already done his bit on trying to bring the inadaquacies of this model to Hornby and the model railway editors, from which there's also silence. As Ron Ron Ron states a dog is a dog, but its a shame the model railway mags and Hornby don't seem to acknowlege that.
