  1. What's to disagree with? The blue team have communicated on faults on 40 and are trying to rectify them. Heard anything from the Red team on rectifying models? 4Vep? 12 Spoke wheels on the star, apparently they will supply the correct 10 spoke but that was only heard through BRM I think, never an official announcement!
  2. Well at least there is an acknowledgement of issues and they are testing models where they have found issues. So while I agree it shouldn't have happened, at least Bachmann are communicating to resolve the issue. The red box team would be burying their head in the sand.
  3. Yes it could. I have a simulator that does Queen St to Edinburgh Waverley. I think Trainz has the ECML from Newcastle to KX I Like creating routes and then driving the. I sometimes use the track plans of model railway layouts I like and join them together in one big route.

    Bachmann E4

Well I've just signed up for an LB&SCR umber one. I missed out on the SE&CR lined out green C and suspect this will be just as popular. Looks good to me. Embarking on a pre grouping collection. The E4 joins my Lanky Tank. Now if I only had a Caley 812 0-6-0 or and NBR Glen.........

    Bachmann E4

Surely if it's not obvious they are molded then Bachmann have achieved their objective? Got my hat, heading for the hills
  6. Quite fancy a Dukedog in GWR green, but the only version is DCC. Anyone know if the model would be supplied with a blanking plug for those that don't want the chip?
  7. Yes it looks like Model Rail got it wrong . There are two versions but Crosti with and without smoke deflector. I certainly didn't know such a version existed, but it is clear from Hornby Mag that it is not a rebuilt Crosti
  8. Yes as SGJ says , although I primarily remember it on Raspberry Ripple (Inter city Mk1s) . I think it did commuter services to Peterborough Remember GNER did restore it to service in their blue livery. Presumably for use on MkIV sets?
  9. Looks pretty stylish to me. I like it, but as others have pointed out what's wrong with GreaterAnglia
  10. Yes looking forward to seeing more updates

    Hornby Star Class

Without quoting all of Nigel Ps posting. When comparing your loco to coach pricing and determining how much we need to pay for quality, while not taking the extreme ( a Hornby LNER teak at £61) I would suggest that £40 is over the average price of a coach. Taking it at £30 would give you the price that most of Hornbys steamers are coming in now. I can also point out that I've just bought perfectly good quality railroad Mk1 s at £15.50 and certainly can see many good coaches available in the £25 range.I don't subscribe to the theory we need to pay more for good QC or that its optional because of price. Good QC should be Inherent in all models we buy. I accept that Hornby are now using many factories and may find it difficult to get a uniform standard in place, but they really need to,otherwise they tarnish their brand name. It's really not optional although I accept it's probably troublesome for them
  12. Ok , there are a number of people not knowing what I'm meaning here. I suppose I was covering two points with one post Firstly was to answer unknown warrior who was looking for a rebuilt Crosti in the future. I pointed out that according to Model Rail he was going to get the rebuilt version of the Crosti he wanted Secondly I queried why this model was in the Railroad range . Previously the assumption was that the model used existing 9F chassis which is not so well detailed, therefore this model had to be in the Railroad Range. However Model Rail pointed out that the model is all new. So if going to all that bother why not put it in the main range. The price is similar to main range DoG and P2 yet this is Railroad.i went onto say that this indicated the appalling mess that Hornbys marketing was in,where you really don't know what specification new models will be. Hope this clarifies
  13. Maybe abit harsh but not unwarranted. So what are we getting with this model, will it be like the DoG and if so which one , the considerably cheaperRailroad one or the main range "design clever" one. Will it have moulded handrails like the main range "star" , comes in at about same price I think. The catalogue needs to be specific, but I somehow doubt it
  14. I thought according to Model Rail that they were doing the crosti version then the later version with the gubbins removed . R3273 is described as Crosti 9f and R3274 as rebuilt Crosti. It does say in their narrative that it will be supplied with "conventional blast pipe"just adding to the total confusion in the Hornby range it further goes onto state that the model is completely new , meaning new chassis as well. But why then would it be in "Railroad" range. I thought the whole reason it was in there was because it used existing 9f chassis which was felt not to be up to modern standards. So now we have a Railroad model priced at normal range prices £117 . Why? What a farce in marketing or has somebody got it wrong?
  15. Yep large one designed to be wall mounted, but does show external walls. It does weigh rather a lot. Going to rest mine on a bit of Ikea furniture and secure it to wall.
  16. Remember if it's the big ones they weigh a lot. Def suggest its a two man job!
  17. Beyond me David, besides haven't built them yet! But try looking up lidl website under "our offers". Livarno display cabinets. They have pics there
  18. Sorry if this in wrong place, but just to let collectors know Lidl have currently two display cabinets for sale. These are ideal for railways or buses. There is a small one for £29.99 and the larger one at £59.99. There are discounts if you buy more than one. Be warned the large one is really a two man job to get it in the car. Bought one of each.they are self assembly, but looks a good way of displaying models without spending a fortune. If you go to Lidl website and type in Collectors display cabinets you should see them
  19. Tony, on page 20 when looking at Railroad Mk1s you refer to Mike Trice gangway ends. Are these somthing that's commercially available?

So where is official confirmation from Hornby? On their website? Or as usual do you need to be in the "know" to get your replacement bogie wheels? No admission of mistake as usual it has all the signs of Hornby hoping to get away with it and provide only the minimum number of wheelsets by not making a huge fuss.
  22. Three versions then , Spend Spend Spend!
  23. Did they ever carry early LMS livery with "LMS" on bunker sides and a large number on tank side. If so this would be an interesting model and better than the more bland LMS one they are producing. Nice models . I have a L&Y one from Locomotion. My expression of interest was never acknowledged so I ordered one directly as soon as images appeared on here . Lovely!
  24. That was my first train too Mike. 1965 You used to go to department stores and they would have Triang trainlayouts usually with elevated sections and maybe also minic motorways. For me it was the catalogues and track plans books that were inspirational. I very well remember the 1974 Hornby catalogue which more innovative ways of using 8 x 4 than just two loops of track. The inside front cover of the 74 catalogue , whiich was also the cover of the third and fourth editions of the track plans book looked very exciting. Inclined track and diamond crossing so that inner and outer circles crossed over themselves, or by changing points became one large circuit. Not at all prototypical but very inspirational and above all fun!
