  1. Replacement Duchess just arrived in perfect condition - great service plus much better protection in the box. Many thanks to Simon and Stuart.
  2. Thanks Simon, Rang Stuart mid-morning and he was going to arranged for Parcel Force to collect the damaged Duchess tomorrow and sort out a replacement - guess what 12.30 and Parcel Force arrived to collect - great service! I just hope Duchess number two arrives in better condition............. Thanks again. Regards, Martin
  3. Mine arrived late morning, cardboard box had slight crumple marks - alarm bells ringing! Outer Hornby packaging fine but clear plastic packaging shattered, loco completely dead also noticed whistle was missing so packed it back up to send back. Packaging from Locomotion very poor, just a single bit of bubble wrap so very loose in the cardboard box. Not happy!

  5. My guess is just shy of £200 for RRP .......
  6. Sets 363 in BR Crimson and 373 in BR Green arrived this morning - absolutely superb - well done the Kernow team. Now looking forward to the long awaited D601, D602 and 10203.
  7. Try HMC, I've never had a faulty item in all the years I have dealt with them.

  10. On an earlier Swanage visit, 10 May 2014.
  11. I have the RR livery version, luckily no marks on front window corners and thanks to your post I now know what the errant bit of plastic is that I found jammed in a bogie wheel set! The real puzzle for me is that is that it is not one from my 122, all mine are present and correct - anyone short of a bogie support swivel !?!
  12. May be these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/D-S-KIT-BUILT-EM-GAUGE-RAKE-of-3-SE-CR-SUBURBAN-COACH-by-GODDARD-LAWRENCE-nj-/332163229706?hash=item4d5678a80a:g:FPYAAOSwuxFY1CUq
  13. GV2015XS YEC Janus 0-6-0DE shunter No.201 in Port of London blue livery which is the DCC sound fitted version now has a RRP of £209.99. The Hattons estimated pre order price was £165.00 but now £179.00.
  14. As John Isherwood has said (thanks John) I have shortened a NEM box by about 2mm and cut the mounting ring off the straight shank E-Z Mate couplings, I used these rather than NEM couplings as the shank is slimmer and gives a little more clearance on the headstock jacks. You will need a 0.5mm plasticard shim to pack up the coupling shaft to ensure the uncoupling loop clears pointwork and possibly tweek the loop as well. A little of your favorite adhesive will hold it all in place, I did not use super glue as it tends to creep everywhere. The tension lock couplings are just shortened and pushed into the cut back NEM pocket, but they are only reliable on radii above 950mm. I will try to post some pics this evening when my feet touch the ground!
  15. Finally managed to find time to take pics of my modified Bachmann E-Z Mate couplings in a shortened NEM coupling box. I have also tried shortened Bachmann short couplings again with a shortened NEM coupling box - these however severly restrict the movement on curves by fouling the jacks so will stick with the E-Z Mate couplings.
  16. Great to see you back Colin - more inspiration to get my finger out so to speak....
  17. My MOD Warwells arrived yesterday from Hattons - very nice! My first job was to remove the overlong standard couplings and fit modified Bachmann E-Z Mate couplings into a shortened NEM coupling box. They are now much closer together, giving about 3mm between buffer heads and allowing reliable movement through my track formations. I am following this topic with interest with regard to prototypical loads, so much information in such a short time, what a wonderful bunch of enthusiasts on this forum - thanks to all of you for all the ideas, links etc etc!

    Hornby Junior

Is this going to attract more youngsters into modelling railways? https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/shop/all-sets/Hornby-junior.html
  19. I too fill the Romford/Markits wheels nuts and any non-flush wheels but with Plasticine so I can do any maintenance as required - just push the Romford/Markits nut driver through the Plasticine as required. The Plasticine is easily painted / weathered and can be done again if required after re-application of Plasticine following maintenance.
  20. If my memory serves me right later issues of the Jubilee had both single and double chimneys plus a selection of numbers / names to allow for different loco variants.

According to my rather sparse notes the 20 3xx had modified cabs with revised cab windows plus Wipac lights both ends and long range tanks, later some had high level HE lights fitted at both ends. 20 902 and 905 had standard cabs with a lower level HE light as did nose end plus long range tanks. 20 904 and 906 had standard cabs with a low level HE light as did nose end but no long range tanks. Best to search for dated photos on the web to be sure. Hope this helps.
  22. Just done the very same mod with just a pair of very fine pointed tweezers!?! Now runs through every bit of my pointwork like a dream. One observation on mine was that the pickups only contacted the rim when wheels were central in chassis, move the wheels away and there was little or no tension so perhaps this was more the problem than the height? All fixed now thanks to all for the various suggestions/solutions - RMweb at its best!
  23. My BR version arrived from Kernow yesterday - brilliant service! Runs like a dream on straight track but fails to negotiate any of my code 75 fine scale pointwork and even one older code 100 double slip. Going to have to modify those #@$% pickups - how did this get through all the design, manufacturing and QC stages?
  24. Think I might hang onto mine for a little longer, at least until I see them in the flesh, mine are not perfect I know..... Pandora has DCC controlled LED inspection lights below buffer beams.
  25. With various permutations of liveries and tooling I just hope the right colours/numbers end up on the right bodies - yet another Chinese recipe for a disaster? Please Dapol make sure they get it 'Right First Time' rather than blindly copy the pre-production samples..............
