  1. Hi A couple more photos of Haymarket's Pacific's around the MPD. Regards David
  2. Hi Robbie sorry to see the damage to your model, not easy to return when you are the other side of the planet. micklner suggests lightly rubbing with fine abrasive paper which is a good idea to smooth the joint where you have glued the broken part, how about some light weathering to the front area to mask the repair. Good luck with what ever action you take, it’s so sad that all these eagerly awaited new LNER models from Hornby have been an absolute shambles in quality control and finish. Regards David
  3. Hi Happy 2022 to everyone. This is the first photo I have taken on the layout of a locomotive arriving at Haymarket facing West. York based A2/2's were occasionally seen at Haymarket in the late 1950's and very early 1960's. Here we have A2/2 60501 one of Hornby's new creations about to go onto the turntable and down to the ash pits. Regards David
  4. Hi Tony Merry Christmas, best choice ever for the B17. Regards David
  5. Hi A Christmas day photo looking across the East Yard. Regards David
  6. Thank you Ray, the same best wishes to you and your family as well. Best Wishes David
  7. Hi Gilbert My mistake, I completely forgot you are modelling 1958. I saw a photo of 70037 at Doncaster on its way to Kings Cross Station in 1961 and that’s what made me think about your Layout and no Britannias. I remember seeing than at the Cross in 1962/3 I think on either Cleethorpes or Grimsby trains. Regards David
  8. Hi Gilbert Merry Christmas and a Happy 2022 to you. just a thought you have a wide variety of fabulous locomotives on Peterborough North but I cannot remember seeing a Britannia Class running on your layout. Or have I just missed the times a photo was posted? Regards David
  9. Hi The last four photos from a recent batch, these show Bachmann A1 60161 North British which I renumbered and named from A1 class 60158 Aberdonian many years ago. The other model is one of the first batch of Hornby's Clan class No 72005. Both were Haymarket Residents in the later 1950's. Regards David
  10. Hi I think you are correct, Any vehicles carrying livestock were usually positioned directly behind the locomotive if possible. Regards David
  11. Hi May I take this opportunity to wish all RMWeb members a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy 2022. More photos of Pacific's on shed at Haymarket, this time it's the Thompson Pacific's turn. Regards David
  12. Hi Mick Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year to you. I totally agree with your comments, you would have thought Hornby would have learned the lesson after the A2/2 and A2/3 fiasco. But obviously they have not. Regards David
  13. Hi Richard Thank you for your kind comments and may I also take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2022. I was giving some thought of trying out some snow scene photography on part of the layout particularly as its Christmas and Haymarket being a suburb of Edinburgh which is not unfamiliar with snow falls, I may do a small example first to see how it goes. I need to know I can easily remove the substitute snow before I try it out. I also look froward to seeing more of your photos soon as well. Regards David
  14. Hi A few more photos from the last batch I took a few days ago showing some of Haymarket's Pacific's around the main shed building. Regards David
  15. Hi I do think they look a little bit oversized, an easy solution if one wants to replace them is to remove the two lamp iron and lamps. If they break off then use a needle file to smooth of the area on the running plate and if they pull out all the better. Using a Pin vice drill a small hole or use the existing hole if there is one, then insert a cut down small piece of a steel staple. Lanarkshire Model Supplies produce superb detailed lamps at the correct scale, and with patience you can drill a small hole in the base of the lamp which will allow it to fit over the replacement staple lamp iron. I have done this many times and they do look very good. Regards David
  16. Hi This new model although well before the period I am modelling it's detailing and looks are stunning. Only one comment is those loco lamps are a bit of a disappointment, I assume they come with the model?. But great seeing members photos. Regards David
  17. Hi Here we have A3 60097 Humorist on the turntable road. Standard RTR Hornby A3 renumbered and named with additional detailing and fitted with the unique brass etched smoke deflectors. Regards David
  18. Thank you Ray for your reply and kind comment. Regards David
  19. Hi Eric Many thanks for your reply, I really wasn’t sure how to go about weathering this model. I had to do something other than keeping the locomotive as straight out of the box condition. As I said earlier I did weather the V1 but thought I had overdone it a bit to much, looking at prototype photos a second time I did notice that the locomotives were kept in a reasonably clean condition just as you have said. Hence the T-Cut and cotton buds. I am reasonably happy with the final outcome as I wanted a fairly clean but well used locomotive. At least it’s a big improvement on my first attempt. Regards David
  20. Hi This is a Bachmann V1 class No 67610 which by sheer luck was a Haymarket based locomotive. I weathered this model a while ago but was not happy with the final result., so out came the T-Cut and Cotton Buds, I removed some of the weathering from the side tanks and cab side to reveal the cab numbers a bit more but had to reapply the totem transfers. My first impression was what have I done but I am now getting use to its new look and after leaving the model and coming back later I do think this has improved the loco's look giving that part clean finish. Regards David
  21. Morning Gilbert That A2/3 looks stunning. Regards David
  22. Hi My first post for some time now. A4 60009 Union of South Africa rolls of the turntable to the Ash Pits while A2 60537 Bachelors Button runs North past the MPD. Regards David
  23. Hi Robbie A nice looking model, may I suggest that some etched nameplates would improve the look considerably. Regards David
