  1. Hi Jason, Sorry - I haven't seen too many Comet kits, but yes it does happen. I suspect more will appear as the Hornby version gets closer. Steve
  2. Actually, just realised I was on the saleroom - where there are quite a few black five kits (Not Caprotti mind), but they are a devil to find: https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/the-swan-at-tetsworth/catalogue-id-srsw10130/lot-af35beaa-62ef-4f20-8bcf-ae1400e45e88
  3. Funny how a quick trawl of ebay reveals a number of Caprotti black five kits available.....
  4. Combined with VERY loud music through headphones!
  5. I know friends and relatives that have had the op and I would ask about the physio/exercise routine post op, I think you will told to do extensive stretching exercises every day. I would ask how long it will last, assuming you follow all the guidance. I would not recommend you have both done at the same time - my father in law did this and was never the same again. Good luck!
  6. Cheltenham Models have a few bargains currently, most notable is their limited edition OO Dapol Western King for <£100: https://cheltenhammodelcentre.com/model-railways/Dapol-oo-gauge-class-52-western-d1039-western-king-br-maroon-small-yellow-panels-limited-edition/p-d1039
  7. @KrisIs that the same as controlled crying? Totally heart wrenching when we did it, but it worked. We also swaddled ours - wrapped in a blanket like a cocoon and unable to move (too much) they seemed to settle much more quickly and stayed asleep longer. They soon grow out of it, and into other bad habits - like waking up at the first light in the summer! Steve
  8. What about a Peco Streamline flexitrack box? 36" long, should be large enough to line with foam protection and probably rigid enough to protect and accommodate your model. Steve
  9. Use Redutex textured sheets - printed on self adhesive sheets I believe?
  10. DC Kits have some interesting sale items, including a number of Bachmann Deltics for £120 a piece: https://www.dckits-devideos.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=272 Happy hunting!
  11. Hi Jeff, Unfortunately not, I didn't get it from Comet so not an option. If push comes to shove, I can sell it to fund the new one - but thought RMWeb was worth a shot. Steve
  12. I have an unopened Comet 3500 gallon Fowler tender body and chassis kit. It was going to be paired with a Brassmasters Jubilee but I have subsequently discovered the loco I am modelling had a Stanier 4000 gallon tender. Its a long shot, but could anyone do a swap (for a kit not RTR)? Many thanks Steve
  13. The dreaded carpet monster has swallowed one of my Romford axle nuts - I've hunted high and low but cannot find it! Would a kind RMWebber have one they can spare? Many thanks, Steve
  14. They also have small magnetic trays, very useful as I always seem to loose bits, they also do a pack of heat shrink tubes which also looks useful. Thanks for the tip. Steve
  15. Kent Garden Railways have launched their new website and there are a few bargains to splash your Chirstmas money on, including a Bachmann 2 car class 105 for £95 - https://kgrmodels.com/product/31-327-Bachmann-oo-class-105-cravens-2-car-dmu-br-green-small-yellow-panel/ - only 1 available so be quick. As they say in the motor trade, first to see will buy! A quick rifle through other categories, sorted by price low-high, reveals more opportunities - a bit like Hereford Models a few months back, with old new stock being available at legacy prices. Happy hunting! Steve
  16. The big reveal! Looking forward to seeing this develop. Well done Jeff! :-)
  17. Hi Gary, I have never built a helix, but that radius combined with the gradient sounds very ambitious based on others' experience of building them. Given the size of your collection and scale of this project I suspect you aspire to run prototypical length trains, which would struggle with a 1 in 42 gradient in straight line, let alone on a curve. Some years ago I bought a couple of Woodland Scenics 1% gradients (1 in 50) for my planned layout - very few of my RTR locos could manage more than 5 or 6 coaches up the incline. There is a wealth of information on helix on RMWeb - just try a free text search and have a browse. As a minimum, mock up the planned gradient based on your specification and see how you get on before you invest in the plan as it stands. Steve
  18. Hi Gary, Whats the minimum radius on your plan? More specifically whats the radius and gradient on the two Helix? Steve
  19. Given the current state of the jobs market, with almost 1.2m vacancies and higher inflation will be driving wages up. It should be a job seekers market. I would hang on in there, as you say you can wait for the right opportunity, but you will need to be looking out for the perfect job, it won't come to you. Make a list of what you want from a job and likely employers that meet your criteria, then monitor their websites or job sites like Indeed and see what comes up. Its unlikely a new role will tick all of the boxes, but at least be aware of and comfortable with the compromises you make. Good luck, Steve
  20. I agree with ITG, I struggled with xtrckcad for a long time and just couldn't get past the basics. That is not a criticism of teh software but my inability to get to grips with what is a powerful but quite complicated bit of software. Anyrail is much easier to use and once purchased is a perpetual license, although I have not yet mastered all of its capabilities. The track libraries are comprehensive and enabled me to mix/match different manufacturers track to get the right outcome (Peco/Roco) and the structure and accessory libraries are a bonus. It prints 1:1 which was useful for my last layout, but agree with other posters - it is somewhat unnecessary if you have a good tape measure and tracksettas to set curves. As ITG says - the cost of the software is relatively insignificant compared to the cost of building the layout. I found it a worthwhile investment, I am a PC user, so can't vouch for compatibility with a Mac. Good luck. Steve
  21. You can try here: https://www.brdatabase.info/sites.php?page=depots&subpage=main&id=784 Steve
  22. Looks really good Mike - looking forward to following your progress on this new facet of your layout. Steve
  23. The one fact I know is that I spend too long on RMWeb and not long enough modelling! :-( Or is that two facts? Sorry to wander from the OP - delete as appropriate!
  24. Great picture Rob - you seem to have a knack for capturing the character and essence of these models. Steve
  25. Doesn't sound like they owe you anything and whilst we should try to reuse, recycle, upcycle - you may have to accept that you are going to damage more than a few when you lift them. If you get them up but they need a clean, I have put Peco points in the dishwasher without any adverse affects! Steve
