Can I ask what colour you paint the sides of your rails?

I like the keeper plate idea. I've done something similar but never as comprehensively as this. I might pinch the idea for the next loco!

I have a small collection of original enamel advertising signs. The Lever Bros is actually for Sunlight Soap and you can just see a Masters Boot Polish one too. I've a Colemans Starch as well as Lipton Tea and Royal Daylight Oil. They're in the garage as I'm running out of wall space to put them up in the house!

I should scan them all and save on Tinysigns really...

Good luck with the build. Craig's etched chassis are really good. I used one under a Cambrian English China Clays RCH 7 plank wagon I originally built rather badly 30 years ago.

Justin's kits are good too. I've just built my first one.

8 scenic boards in total Tim, 22ft scenic section by 3'3" deep.

I either need to build an additional 2No 5ft fiddle yards or a shed load of other boards if I decide to make it roundy roundy.

Aha! No, it's laminated flooring underlay. 5mm thick foam. Same properties but much cheaper. Mine's a brand called quickstep. Others are available. I had some left over and tried it. I ended up buying another box!

No, because I haven't worked out how to build a 7mm point using code 100 FB rail and timber sleepers yet!

Your re-aligned track looks good. It's odd how once the idea forms that something isn't quite right, it burrows into your brain until you can't see anything else and it just has to be sorted out. I'm sure you'll keep looking at the new arrangement and think "Yeh!"

The other good point you make is that however long one leaves a job, or divert on to alternative projects, the issue doesn't seem to resolve itself. I kept putting off the cobbled area in the goods yard on Delph/Holt, but months later, when I went back to it, it had failed to do itself in the meantime. I was quite put out.

Of course, when I did get down to it, the whole thing was easier than I had anticipated, as is nearly always the case.

I'm afraid that some people (not you Andrew) are besotted by Templot - it is not the panacea some people think, and sometimes the MK1 human eyeball can do a better job.

Indeed. Of course when you double up every dropper to build in 100% redundancy it does add up somewhat.

That seams an unusually short baseboard, or am I missing something? Glad to hear your making progress and getting stuff moving.

yes, they're only 820mm wide, but they are 1000mm deep. I wanted to keep the size down so I can manhandle boards around, the depth is the key and when plugged together forms a solid rectangle shape.

The board in the picture is all wired and working and I've started on the next one now.

Just read the lot great project, will follow with interest. I grew up in Station Road and the whole of your layout area was our playground after the tracks were lifted late 60s and 70s remember it all vividly. Have a few photos around if your ever short of one not many mind! Had a couple of the demolishion of the under bridge Station Road but you have done that now. Cheers Ade

The lever frame may have been a nightmare to build, but it looks pretty good from here and must be fun to operate.

Yes they're D299's and will represent the line's internal fleet. I have some 3 plank dropsides to add too, but I mustn't get distracted from the wiring of Cheddar. I mustn't...

Incidentally I've been stalking your blog and the WCPR site, I like  those timber-supported water towers and fancy something similar for the sidings at Farthing (originally built by an independent company).
