  2. Yep, I know that one very well, I ballasted a joint that had never been completed about a week before Dagworth’s first show. As per all my large layouts the signalling is fully interlocked with track circuits. When we got to the show the constant occupancy of that circuit meant I was unable to change points at one end of the station. I can’t remember exactly how I solved it but it involved bypassing that particular track circuit until it dried fully. Andi
  3. I’ve just finished a show where I was responsible for the walk in music. I played out with The Pogues, it feels more appropriate in my mind. Andi
  4. Personally I think that's probably the easier option. Andi
  5. It's being reported that Pogues frontman Shane has died at the age of 65. Very sad. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-67546785 Andi

  7. I once managed to create a short by the screws that the rails were soldered to at a baseboard joint being in contact with the metal alignment dowel. Worse was that one of the rails was a point frog rail relying on the baseboard joint as its insulation. This meant that the fault only showed when the point was thrown, and disappeared when the board was separated from its mate. Took ages to work out what the hell was going on. I couldn’t have caused that fault if I’d tried Andi
  8. I know a lot of the metal ended up with Cheltenham Model Centre Andi
  9. BR had a thing in the 90s called Organising For Quality. Abbreviated to O for Q
  10. It doesn’t actually need the running rails connected together, only one needs to be the return, the other can be dead. Three rail locos will return current through either rail. Andi
  11. I'm interested in doing something similar but I'd like to be able to do it via wifi in real time back to a monitor to be able to drive the train from the cab view. The camera etc. needs to be small enough to hide inside a 4mm diesel or electric loco. Has anyone done this with current technology instead of the stuff I was playing with 20 years ago that was very susceptible to interference? Andi

Sorry, been playing that damned tube map memory game and it was the only one in Zone 1 I couldn't think of and it's just come to me

  18. Half tempting me to get one of my Tri-ang ACs out and add it to the workbench pile, trouble is that pile is currently taller than I am and there is much with higher priority first. I really need to get those APTs sorted soon… Andi
