Probably not much of a saving once you factor in the cost of picking all the parts, packing them so they don't get damaged and can be readily identified, and chucking in a big box with a destruction manual. Not forgetting people contacting the manufacturer with questions, requests for replacement parts and complaints that it's too difficult. Would all that be worth it to a manufacturer for the handful they might sell?

Good stuff. Nice to see a 7mm layout that has actually considered scenics. Love Lane is another. Mostly they fall into the "how much track can I ram into the boards". -
Sorry, was busy not buying Pannier tanks... I must admit I didn't have a problem with the fiddle being on the right, particularly once the longer controller lead was put on. Despite being right handed I tend to hold the controller in my left, which leaves my right hand free to do uncoupling and, er, twiddling with Rob's nob.

I think it's just a case of oddities, or pretty liveries and "famous" locos sell. From content on YouTube and other general platforms, it appears that the majority of buyers and layout builders are agnostic to era and location. They just seem to want something nice and or different to look at. I suspect to them one GWR 4-6-0 looks like any other and yet another variety of them won't relieve them of any pennies. I believe that "We", as folk that are interested in a location and period, are in the minority and are not the target audience. I'd love someone to produce an update of the Maunsell N class and also some of the other Southern moguls (U, K, N1, U1) but I'm not holding my breath on that one. In the meantime we have further ER Pacifics and oddities like the Garrett...

Always a pity with these that you effectively lose a column of storage in the corner. Could you modify to miss out the internal vertical that blocks in the corner? I think you should use the 4 hidden cubes as a time capsule. Something to find in a few years the next time you have a move around. I would put any misbehaving cats and all panniers in there for starters.
