  1. Looks like the handbrake isn't very good.
  2. What you do in your own time is entirely your choice. Thing is is an old donkey or a modern one?
  3. I doubt that would be the Police that did that. They are not allowed to close roads these days. The bit about not having a clue I cannot argue with though whoever makes these decisions.
  4. Found a couple more locally that could do with a bit of tlc.
  5. I had one that colour. Great little car and very seldom seen these days. One of them or a Corrado would make a great everyday classic.
  6. Just come across that my self. Blimey sort the wheat from the chaff with that lot! Some cracking stuff there BUT what a shame somebody cares so little for it once they owned it to let it get to the state they were in.
  7. Here they only have two letters and three numbers. So as it is a very old car I suspect in it's day they had one letter. For each letter combination there can only be 999 vehicles of course so the letters change when they reach that rather than a set date. Newest I have seen are on RR at the moment.
  8. Been a while since I have posted any oldies found here in the TRNC so found this today. Well knew it was there as we had seen it before but took the effort to stop and grab a picture today. Hope my effort was worth it. Looks like someone has tried to put a sunroof in it and failed miserably.
  9. I agree with you Steve. These days I would prefer something to be kept as original as is practicable without being stupid like insisting on cross ply tyres of course. I suspect because I took lessons in an imp (I actually learnt to drive in my own Ford Anglia Estate that my Mum run until I passed my test) that I have a soft spot for one. SIL is 'far; younger than you or I Steve and loves doing stuff that others would find difficult nay impossible. I guess he just loves the challenge. In fact while you are about saw this yesterday which I sort of think you would like. https://www.itv.com/hub/the-car-years/2a6359a0006 Show is well cheesy but I am sure you will love the Saab 99 Turbo.
  10. Pass. He has his own garage and is so buys with customer's cars that he hasn't done much to it yet. I think it is a long term project as he used to have an Imp years ago that he did up but had to sell it to fund starting his own business. Next time I speak to him I will ask.
  11. I appreciate I removed the picture from the quote and it did mention a mini pick up but the original picture was of an Imp and it was an Imp I was talking about.
  12. Learned to drive in one in 1970. Wife's son in law has one and is putting a Subaru Impreza engine in it. He is a very good spanner monkey and I have little doubt the end result will be quite special.. Wouldn't want to learn to drive in it though!
  13. There are some good ones out there if you look. Highlighted here.
  14. Just to try to bring this topic back to actual old cars or in this case van. Maybe stop the petty squabbling for a while at least. Oh and yes it is still nice and sunny here in the TRNC.
  15. Not posted for a while but as I was passing the local garage the other day I saw he had a couple that may be of interest so here they are.
  16. Indeed Steve! Don't visit that often but would like to see a few cars instead of another circular argument about MOT's.
  17. There are a few less cars there though! Anyway caught yesterday but a very rushed photo. Very nice MkIII Cortina in mint condition. Well it was green! I also saw but wasn't quick enough to snap an Austin 1300GT which looked in non standard colours.
  18. Sporty Fords are fetching a lot of money these days so daft letting it get worse.
  19. My latest find in North Cyprus. Seen lurking in Lefkosa (Nicosia) in the Turkish version of Steptoes Yard.
  20. Yeah went across to have a look Jim. Still think it daft you were excluded from the 'old' car thread. I think what you have done with the blue one looks good but then I best pop back over there to comment on it as I don't want to be castigated.
  21. Yes I mentioned that when it was serviced last week and got the Turkish shrug. I am off back to speak to the owner next week as he speaks perfect English and will get them to have a proper look. It is a problem here at times. Our friend went into the local garage as we noticed she has a noisy wheel bearing. At the garage they took the wheel off took it into the garage then came back out later and said they had fitted a new valve. Didn't check the wheel moving on the car nor take it for a run. She will take it elsewhere now though.
  22. I am probably as old as you Pork! Pull my leg all you like and you are right about the opinions. I don't have the slightest issue with anyone saying a car is modern or old really but my point is people banging on about the thread is for classic cars and the title says old. I for one was interested in Big Jim's Mini pictures because they are old if you look at the newer versions yet some took offence that he even had the cheek to post them in here. Since when did we have hard and fast rules and who is to decide what should be or not be included? It is just a thread about 'old' cars for peoples interest and if a car of a certain age or type doesn't appeal to you move on. I have no interest in American anything and certainly not huge cars but all I do is whiz past those posts and look at the other stuff. It is easy done.
  23. Like has been said above many plates are cloned by looking at Auto Trader and the like. I doubt very much that anyone is trawling through a Model Railway forum to look for a plate to clone. Paranoid? Who said I was paranoid?
  24. The title of this thread is For those interested in old cars. Why some have to get so hung up about this is beyond me. Maybe the fact that some keep misquoting the title of the thread. It could have been argued that a new thread entitled Classic Cars could/should have been started. Blimey it is nearly as bad as the gauge arguments some days in here.
