  1. Ah well - that's my Chrissie Pressie to me ordered, except it won't be here till February
  2. Andy - thanks for giving me more info on this - I am now better informed but it doesn't change my feelings I'm afraid - missing school is still missing school and representing your country doesn't make up for missing the school- and home-work - it is still a effectively a school-break in term time - who is to say that the week in the Algarve doesn't involve using/learning a foreign language, obtaining geographical knowledge, and learning to get on with people from different backgrounds - all sadly missing from the life -experiences of many in UK , it appears - including a certain N Farage, despite his being married to a lady from another country. However I was NOT trying to be argumentative, and I DO appreciate that there are many people in your profession trying, in difficult circumstances, to educate our youngsters, imparting their professional knowledge to student teachers to continue the work, and, in the main, making a very good job of it.
  3. Is it not strange that it is perfectly all right for a child to miss school for a competition - but NOT all right to miss school to go on an overseas holiday? Sorry - not trying to be argumentative - but it does seem like one rule for the goose and another for the gander, to me
  4. Good heavens - 2 more pages will be Page #5000! edit - why "mages" appeared I know not - Now sortid!
  5. Would there be any sense in looking at the "Really Useful Boxes" series as railway containers? I have one that holds a Christmas Tree, about 45" long , and a shorter one about 30" long, that I bought for that purpose. A folding board should fit inside very nicely. They would allow the use of HO rather than N
  6. Oh dear! With the way the $=£ is right now, that is likely to be an expensive Chrissiepressie
  7. Three guesses why it is called TST LOGISTICS (The Sidings Tamworth)?
  8. TBH - I paid and moved off very quickly, so fast indeed, that when I was far enough away, I looked in the bag to check that I hadn't taken his hand with me as well!
  9. I did quite well actually - I got the Ford, a red Chevy Crew-cab Silverado 4x4 , a red GMC Crew-cab Sierra 4x4, a reddish Dodge Van (plastic, and a Road Champs yellow School Bus - all bereft of boxes and all sat in a cardboard box marked "HO Vehicles £2 each" - I cleaned him out of US HO vehicles, Pity he didn't have a few more at the price !
  10. I'm an OAP - I couldn't afford a full size one! Not even sure I could afford to feed it! Yes it is definitely an HO version - this is the one
  11. Hate to tell you this, but I bought a Black Ford F-150 4x4 ,no year specified, but definitely modern, as it was loose on a stand at Perth Show yesterday - I think it is made by Hongwell in China - I can do you a photo tomorrow if you like. Might be worth an ebay search FYI - none o9n ebay UK or ebay .DE ( somethimes worth a look!) but there are several on Ebay.com in USA Happy hunting!
  12. Sorry to be a bit late with this, but if you saw the video, on Farcebook this morning, of the young lady being asked about cutting a Hawiaiian(sp?) Pizza into 8 or 12 pieces - you would realise just exactly HOW stupid some of the residents of UK actually are - it makes you wonder if they are fit to be allowed out on their own without a minder?
  13. One for Ian (OD) - not quite Le Mans - but Ypers Ralley 2015 - and somewhat faster than I'd want to drive! https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLVyRAt2cxbxvYNwn-88vsB0futNoEwDQ7&v=00k9-ORx3o0
  14. I had the pleasure of one of those calls today - from 03334432297 - I picked it up, said nowt, and it cut off - did a reverse-look-up (it is free!) on http://who-called.co.uk/ and it appears to be an insurance comparison site - whatever you do, DO NOT RING IT BACK - it seems to be a premium rate line at VERY expensive rates through Vodaphone - you have been warned!
  15. Nice to see that your layout is in the brand new Update - http://www.carendt.com/small-layout-scrapbook/page-119-june-2016/
  16. Watch the Revel Harbour tug - it is under scale - I think about 1:108, and which sort of tug is used depends to some extent where it operates -The high bridge ones were designed for use in NY/NJ so the the captain could see over the barges - it may be worth joining the Yahoo groups <railmarineops> and <railmarineops files>. There may be a few days wait for an answer, but there is a huge amount of info on there. The one in my link above, "River Lady", is a Mississippi River push tug that shoves groups of barges up the river, but it was small enough to fit in the box
  17. Bartering in Oz This morning a guy was in luck and was able to buy two boxes of top class beer cheap at the local supermarket. He placed the boxes on the front seat and headed back home. He stopped at a service station where a gorgeous blonde in a short skirt was filling up her car at the next pump. She glanced at the two boxes of beer, bent over and leaned into his passenger window, her bra-less breasts nigh on falling out her skimpy top, and said in a sexy voice, "I'm a big believer in barter, old fella. Would you be interested in trading sex for beer?" He thought for a few seconds and asked, "What kind of beer 'ya got
  18. My guess is Jordan is just in from work and is winding down before going to bed.
  19. For those whose time on the forum doesn't go back that far - or are just interested (unlikely, I know!) an Inglenook Ferry layout can be found at http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29306 Ingleferry Wharf collapses down and was built for a challenge on the Railroad Lines Forum to fit an operating layout in an actual shoebox
  20. .......and was certainly capable of making its own "thunder" , and breaking windows with Sonic booms. Standing it on its "backside" and heading for Dark Blue Sky, was a product of thrust to weight ratio, and an astonishing rate of climb resulted. Due to the engine positioning it was also capable of an incredible "skid turn" circle radius as well
  21. Don't know where I inherited mine from - but I seem to have very similar ones!
  22. Sorry - I found this on Farcebook and absolutely love it!
  23. Was amused when a young(ish) character on a TV program asked "What's a Conway Twitty?" when another character said he'd finally been able to get hold of a copy that he'd been searching for.
