  1. I drove to Melbourne from Brisbane for the Easter NG Convention. Two full (12 hour) days of driving in each direction for a total of 3500km. Got to find out how uncomfortable Hyundais are after two hours of sitting still!!!! Glad you got to see what I missed when I went!
  2. I have found a supply of 600gsm A3 board from the local big box office supplier which is exactly 1mm thickness. It is now used extensively in my models. At only $16 for 25 sheets, it goes a long way.
  3. When you talk of the clearance between the turntable under the layout and the board above - are you asking how much room to get your hand in, in case of trouble, or just to get clearance for rolling stock? I forget now, but is the turntable removable in case of disaster?
  4. That's hilarious! Coffee by the gallon. Real gallons too... not the small US version. Mind you, in 1963, on apprentice wages, that's about a month of savings.
  5. Another layout? Well, there is more room on the block of land for another shed or three!
  6. Aren't you glad you modelled all four walls on everything!
  7. This is sensational modelling. Please keep posting. For the last few posts you seem to be talking to yourself!
  8. So on Friday it's wake up to Bakeup! I'll get my coat........
  9. A train lost in a landscape and only another 10 boards to build! When I leaned on that board at the last meeting I never thought a full train would look so tiny. Are you planning to build more boards to check that the track fits before getting stuck into the scenics etc? I am sure people on here would love to know.
  10. I'm hoping the work surface is clamped in some way into the sawhorse. Mind you, I inherited an A0 size cutting board from a previous life when I had a photographic studio and do you think I have any more spare space to work in?
  11. I remember being an army cadet at school. The lasting memory was how heavy those ancient old 303s were! Perhaps a couple of Boy Scouts on a reconnaissance mission around Much Murkle station then? No, I can't imagine that scenario being allowed nowadays - far too much paranoia in your breakfast cereal unfortunately.
  12. Really like the last shot. All those buildings represent a serious investment in time and effort! Hopefully the new home will be large enough to accommodate it all without major rebuilding!

  14. Have you seen this range of trees? http://www.romanbezucha.cz/nabidka.html 125 Kc is approx £4.09 for a tree up to 30cm. Postage from Prague could be a killer though.

    It's got legs!

I am planning to get my layout to be 1400mm at track level. Too high for some but for most viewers, it represents eye level looking into the scene. If you decide the height is wrong, you can always recycle the legs by cutting a bit off and adjusting the brace at the new length.
  17. Does the reduction in height mean both boxes fit the trailer? It sort of looks like it from the locating posts on top of new box two.
  18. Getting ready to build board five of The Steamy Pudding but something called work keeps getting in the way!

  21. Have you thought of doing this style of baseboard mount? http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=23577&whichpage=43
  22. I am supposing this whole structure is rigid enough to simply pick up and turn over when you were finished with the supports? This layout is a scary size but watching it unfold is truly wonderful.
  23. Have you seen this thread by Mark? He details how he got around a board crossing the door into the garage. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/58011-maybeck-road-depot/page-5
  24. The curving incline across the removable board across the door will be an interesting planning exercise! I take it the short person at the door is part of the planning committee?
