  1. Instead of mirrors under bridges to make layouts look bigger, we will have to start putting them under the track so we can all see whats on the bottom of Accurascale stuff!!
  2. Or instead of guessing and causing a barrage of emails to them, as I'm sure they will be busy coming up with other lovely models for us to buy in the future, wanting to know where thier models are..... We all could wait for those nice guys at Accurascale to let us know that they have arrived in the UK like they have done with all the other models they have done......
  3. Have a look to see if the coupling NEM pocket is fully pushed in to its holder as this can cause the couplings to hang down lower that normal if they are not fully home.
  4. HI James, Just to correct you slightly as most sound Locos in the UK use F1 to turn the sound on and off and the latest generation uses it to fade the sound on and off whilst the loco is moving. The Americans and a few other countries us the F8 method that you have mentioned.
  5. Have to agree with you on that plus and I've been bitten by Hattons on this a couple of times and don't pre-order anything with them. The most recently issue was with the RHTT wagons when i got a unpleasant phone call from them so politly asked then to cancel the order. Once bitten twice shy.
  6. I'm sorry but too many people expect to be spoon fed everything these days and that just isn't possible when dealing with hundreds of customers at the same time. I found out about it via an email from them before it was posted up on Rmweb which is the correct way to do the marketing. You can't expect them to contact every single person persoanlly to say sorry we decided to suspend this project. Bachmann is great for cancelling things and not telling any one about it until you suddenly think where is X model and go to Bachmann to check. The project is mentioned in the product listing on the 1/10/20 which they have now amended to say what is happening. The easiest way to keep up to date with things in this day and age is to sign up for newsletters. I know you will be thinking but all those emails coming to the inbox. A nice a simple soultion is to set up a free email account and put that email in to the newsletter sign up box and then check though it once a week. Nice and simple to keep track of things. If its something more important like say a pre-order etc then you put your mail email address.
  7. They ran very freely. Hope to recreate something similar when the 37s arrive and we can triple head them!!!! BUT I have this feeling that we may run out of track and stock before they start to show any sign of slowing down!!! Many thanks for allowing us to have a play with the samples.
  8. Mike, YOU complain.....never Yes there is a plan B and we are just working it out at the moment......well we have the plan and it’s in place but we just need add content to it and then we will go live. Plus I’m sure some of it will end being posted by those nice Irish lads we know @Accurascale Fran in their section of the forum. cheers Simon
  9. For what we did with the wagons its advisable I'm sure the Accurascale guys will show everyone at some point.
  10. Hello all, I know this is going to be a very large shot in the dark but I'm looking for the Falcon Brassworks Huges Steam Railmotor kit to complete the stock list for my L&YR layout. Happy to consider any part built kits (with all the parts there) that people may have started and decided not to continue with. I think the product code is LK54 Many thanks Simon
  11. he did say possibly for up to 6 months. As you mention things my change as 6 months time is a while away.
  12. As you say the rules are missleading but if you stick to the main ones then you should be ok. Ive been involved with a local support group to help those shelding and we work closely with the council and we have had the following info given to us and its updated as and when. You can say open but no more than 6 people at a time indoors, the famous 'bubble'. You can't mix bubbles, so say one member wanted to go and work on a difffent layout then they wouldn't be able too. If members are living in a local lockdown area then they shouldn't be leaving thier homes unless shopping, going to work if they cant work at home, attending doctors/medical appoinments so shouldn't be attending the club rooms as its not an activity that is needs to be done to live. If the club rooms are in a lockdown area then I would say close to try and prevent the transmission of the virus. Where I live one local town is in lockdown and those resedenst of that town are now travelling to any other town as thier pubs are closed but they still want to drink so are possibly transmitting it to a new area. I have to say diffrent areas may have diffent infomation or rules to follow so If anyone isn't sure of whats the best course of action for thier area then contact the local council/goverment body and they can advise.
  13. Make sure you say hi if you do make it for the show.
  14. We are all looking forward to attending the show again. We have always been very well looked after when we have brought up the other trainsets and its one of the must visit shows on my exhibiton calender each year!! Make sure you say hi and I'm sure the guys wouldn't mind if you wanted to have a play...........promise we won't all run off to the pub
  15. HI all, Hope everyone is staying safe at the present time and getting some modelling done. As we have now had responses from all of the organisers for the 2020 shows that the groups layouts where due to visit we can now start re-organising our exhibiton diary for next year and beyond. So here are the 2021 shows, as it stands at the moment, subject to change. Perth Model Railway Exhibition - 26 Jun & 27 Jun 2021 Wigan Model Railway Exhibition - 2 Oct & 3 Oct 2021 The Charwelton team are looking forward to attending both shows next year. Thanks
  16. Being married to a techer who is also a teacher governer and a director of an Academy Trust, they have cancelled all external hires until further notice due to the procedures that they have to follow as set/suggested by the Goverment which include the following, Year group bubbles No educational visits Lunch meals to be eaten at desks Staff to leave as soon as all kids have gone to enable cleaning to start straight away. Any term breaks will be used to deep clean and steralise the building so I wouldn't expect them to be too happy to have a bunch of visitors walking in for a couple of days. There is a lot more to the list and I apprecate that all schools will be different but most will be following a similar pattern. I can see it being a long time before schools will accept external bookings
  17. Hello, So what a year this is turning in to. We haven't been updating as much as we would have liked to, purely as the shows we where due to exhibit at have all been cancelledand this has mean't that we have slowed down a bit of the production of new stock. As a group and having organised shows in the past (for me) and currently for a couple of others in the team we fully support the difficult descisions that the organisores have to face. Not an easy task and one that I wouldnt want to do. So what does this mean, well as a group we have had support from a lot of friends and exhibition managers who booked Charwelton into the 80s without even knowing what we were going to do with the layout and as a group we felt that we should repay that support by supporting them with honouring our bookings in the order we were meant to do them. This did cause a bit of head scratching as we ended up with two weekends on the bounce which was a logistcal nightmare but with recent annoucements of a couple of shows recently cancelling it now means that we can ammend our diary list and support those that have supported us. We will post up the new diary in the next few weeks with a couple of additions to the apperances. Once the summer is over we will be hopefully be making more updates about our projects for the layout. Of which there are many but until then, here is a picture from a recent site visit we did with some bloke called Andy York
  18. To be honest Mick I've been waiting for it to be canclled for the past 2 months along with all the other shows this year. Its cancelation now means that I and the CBMDG can now honour all of our exhibition bookings, just a year later than orignally planned which helps everyone Its up to the organiniser to decide when they announce the news and if told to not to say anything then I abide by the request as it can cause problems when someone lets the information out and infcat what they say is wrong.
  19. I was the same and its was nice to see nobody let the news out before the date requested. Whilst its a shame that the show has been cancelled, which I'm sure we would agree is for the best. It does now mean that I can now alter and confirm all the bookings that I have for the next few years for layouts, demos and what ever else I've got down to do including get the new layout built and ready for next years show.
  20. I was a member a few years ago and left due for several reasons including miss managment, lack of intrest at the time by the guild in 70s, 80s & 90s scene in the in house mag. I did send a letter explaining my reservations and the reasons why I left at the time and I never got a acknowlagement to it. I know its not a big thing getting a reply but even just an email saying sorry you have left. The only other group that i left did send a email about 4 years after i left saying they had noticed i had not rejoined and asked for my reasons why and when i sent them i got a rude email back but at least they contcated me.
  21. We would certainally be up for a badge or two to add to the collection. Thanks for asking us to take part with the layout Andy. I could get use to these non early starts to exhibit Might have to get out my loco recognition book though as apparently we don't have any class 20s on the layout going by the comment Thanks Simon
  22. I totally agree that they are different beasts and the costs will be very different hence why they have taken the decision now but the possible restrictions that would/maybe in place at the time would be the same for both shows as they would be venue lead not organisor lead.
  23. Hi Chris, I stand corrected then on my assumstion. Just out of curiosty can I ask which show you are involved with? As being involved you will know that you have to make sure you cover your full costs and it doesn't matter if you pay out for them before, during or after a show you still need to know the figures involved to break even other wise you may end up running the show at a loss. We will just have to differ on our views of when it will be the right time to cancel a show and yes it may be the case that come November it may be safe to be stand 1 ft away from someone but when you are possible risking thousands of pounds that have to be paid months in advance for me and many other organisors that I know its a too bigger risk to take with someone elses money.
  24. Hi Chris, I'm guess by your second line 'I imagine' that you have never organised or been in an organsing team for a show? Whilst on the surface it may seam easy to cancel a show with in a few weeks of the event, its not trust me. Most venues require a deposit which can be up to 50% of the total hire cost which for a show could range from £100 up to £20,000 plus. In the case of one show I know about this amount has to be paid 4 months before the date. This as I'm sure you will agree not a small sum to risk loosing if you decide to cancel. Most places have it in the contracts that if you cancel and they can't rehire the venue then you for fit the deposit. Then you have hotel costs, to get the best deals you normally have to pay upfront, again this could run in to thosands of pounds, again you won't get this back. So lets say you have sunk £4000 in to venue, hotel, insurance, meals for exhibitors, guides, leaflets and advertising. You expect the expenses to be around £2000 for say 12 layouts. This are what i would call fixed costs and these are ones that have to be paid out no matter what. So to recover your costs you will need at least 1000 people through the door if you charge £6 per adult visitor. Ive not included kids as quite a few shows do free entry these days. Weekend of the show you only get 700 people through the door as people have been put off attending by social distancing etc. The income for the weekend is only £4,200 leaving you with a defecit of £1,800. Now where is this amount coming from, club funds, out of members pockets?? This is why shows are cancelling as its a very fine line between the show working and covering costs and not working and someone/people having to put money in to make up the short fall. Aat the moment with the current news out put of the pupils not going back to school propely in September then i would say shows are going to keep being cancelled until such time as its safe to have lots of people shoulder to shoulder in a hall along with exhibitors, demos etc. Yes it may all change in the next few weeks/couple of months but what happens if it doesn't? My experince of all this, well I had to cancel a show due to the weather in 2010 and that cost the club nearly £2,000 so i know its not a decision that is made lightly. Thanks Simon ps ive just seen Nickwoods post about the motorbike show being cancelled, I would expect Warey to have the same decision but that is for them to decide upon and not me.
