Good luck. I hope it works, so you can consign those cancer sticks to the dustbin of history.

I'm not a smoker, but I knew some people who were - who were unable to stop before it was too late.

What they went through was nasty - towards the end, it was slow, painful, torture - I could see the agony in their every breath. I don't want anyone else to go there.

I'm sure quitting will be tough - but it's worth the effort. I wish you every success.

PHEW Dave !! I had a slight panic then I thought Stoptober was about stopping drinking for the month, I have a couple of parties and a wedding to go to, panic over.

Good luck to anyone taking part in either.

A friend of my son said to him here in Gloucester, 'Why should I indicate? It's none of their business where I'm going.'

<whacks forehead with palm> Unfortunately Steve, there's far too many like him. Trouble is, they're not the worst offenders...

  8. EM points built & now fettled, 1st 2 items of rolling stock regauged. Something wrong here, I'm actually doing some modelling!

  9. Finished soldering up my pointwork & managed to only burn myself once - courtesy of a carelessly held cigarette!

Show me something that isn't! I was just struck by the irony though - 7 hours work spread over 3 days carried out by a card holding ham-fister, involving cutters, files, slitting discs, sharp metal edges, not to mention corrosive flux & a very hot iron being waved about, yet the only 'injury' sustained occurred during a 5 minute fag break!

I know exactly what you mean, Dave. Sod's Law or something...

  10. Just soldered on my first stock rail in 30 years (should say this is only the 2nd bit of pointwork i've attempted). Taking 5 just now before fabricating the 1st of 2 frogs!

Too late! 1st frog assembled & laid. I have backup also - enough sleeper strip & rail to start again if I mess it up. There's also a stock of Peco points should I give it up as a bad idea!

  11. Finally acquired a copy of GWRJ 54 today to satisfy my curiosity re: the Worcester vinegar branch. Stunned to find its proximity to Padmore Street, a place i've visited on many occasion. Surprised so much can still be traced on Google maps, something tells me I may be waylaid for a couple of hours next time I'm in that city!

Langley Park is on the way to Consett - aka Connie Bongo - from Durham :)

      Dave47549

Ah right, thanks for that (I'm an ignorant midlander!). No, the 'Langley Park' reference is from a kids book/film I read/saw as a kid & it ties in with Victoria Park - the Futers inspiration.

  20. Came home today with a Hornby EMT 'brick', which doesn't exactly fit in with my cliched GWR stock. How did that happen??
