  1. Is it really February already? Been a bit quiet but I've been trying to work through the unfinished projects do not too much to see until things are finished. I'm slowly switching over to Sprat and Winkle couplings. I used to use Kadees but I found I didn't have a great experience with them, although I've worked with them on another layout and they worked. Maybe it's just me. Anyway, I spent some time this afternoon knocking up a jig from scrap wood and some track. It has a goal post height gauge at one end and a magnet at the other. Most wagons should be easy to fit, the only ones I'm having a slight issue with is wagons with a deep buffer beam like VBA, VDA and VGA vans for example. A little thought will be needed because I don't want to cut slots in the headstocks. Cheers
  2. Hi Will, I know this sounds like a silly question, but who did you get your GW Models puller from? I googled them and all I could find was pictures linked to other threads or eBay, nothing actually linked to GW Models. Cheers
  3. Hi Rich, Just had a read through following our conversation about Lima DMU bashing at the Monmouth show. The 119 is coming on, I need to revisit my Cardiff Valley Lines 116 at some point to bring it up to a better standard. There's also a part converted 122 that I bought Second hand from the DEMU forum to finish off as one of Laira's units. I like the look of those DCC Concepts pick ups. I have a bubble car in use on the Cornish layout and it can be a bit jerky. Would you recommend them as worth fitting, or would you describe the traditional method as working better? Cheers Wayne
  4. Hi Rich, Good to finally chat about Oxford Road and units at Monmouth. Here's a couple of pics, I've added some from Lydney over on DEMU. Cheers Wayne
  5. Haha! Thanks for the kind words, but I never made a secret of the fact that Dragon Steels was built as cheaply as possible when money was tight! I think it turned out pretty good though, it was the last OO layout I built before I moved into EM when I acquired Dave Tailby's Trevanna Dries Cornish branch layout. Cheers
  6. Hi Will, Nice to come over and see the thread, I came across your layout on the Facebook group. Wayne
  7. A few from me of the show. Not been to the Monmouth one before but it was a nice little show and one I'd be interested in attending with a layout myself. Good to catch up with @Gilbertagain and @Rich Papper Cheers Wayne
  8. Good to see you again today Chris! Here's a couple of pics of Dock Street, in action today at the Monmouth show. Cheers again for my little present!
  9. Hi Kevin, I was drawn to back to this thread after going through some old magazines to file useful articles away and came across something familiar... Did you have an article in Model Rail? The model of 37175 looked familiar. Cheers Wayne
  10. Hi Will, Interesting to read your approach to the PFA conversion. I've recently bought some and have been wondering how to go about it. Cheers Wayne
  11. Well I do have some ash from BBQ coals somewhere, maybe that would work?
  12. Boo! Just kidding, see you there. Sorry if I missed it before but what's your method for doing areas of ground where vehicles park? Cheers Wayne
  13. Hi Chris, Will look forward to seeing Dock Street again at Monmouth, I've got that Sunday off now so I'm able to pop along. Cheers Wayne
  14. @Gilbert Really like the look of this. What's your method for doing hardstanding and vehicle parking areas? I have some vehicle areas to do on Tunnock Yard and I'm struggling with it, scenery is not my strong point. Cheers Wayne PS: I've got round to replying to your email.
  15. Hi Chris. It's looking good, sure puts my layout Tunnock Yard to shame. I envisaged it as an Inglenook with a run round loop. I took it to a local show as WIP but I need to get on with scenic stuff. You'll have to teach me how you do it! Layout design and working out the track plan has always been my downfall and before I know it a couple of years has passed, by which time a couple of people I know have churned out two or three layouts! Cheers Wayne
  16. Well done Chris! I know you don't do RMweb much now but I think this one deserves a thread. Cheers Wayne
  17. Hi Chris, As the others have said Penmaenbach is looking great, great to see it coming along. @marc smith great to see you hear too Marc, shame you couldn't make the show. How are things with you, any luck with the work situation? Cheers Wayne
  18. Great to see Oldshaw is still going. I expressed an interest in it with Andrew several years ago as he was thinking of selling it, but then I forgot about it as we lost contact. In the end my first venture into EM turned out to be Dave Tailby's Trevanna Dries after purchasing it from another DEMU member. I did however manage to acquire Andrews model of 50014 as it bought by the same person who owned Trevanna. I noticed that some of the bogie stock has S&W couplings, can I ask how they're fitted? Cheers Wayne
  19. Thanks Chris, I didn't realise you would be there. Thanks for your email regarding the US stuff. Sorry I haven't replied yet, just been busy with work, I even had a night shift after the show. I'm off this week though so I'll get back to in the next day or show. Brownsville and Ashland looks very good by the way, I've spent a lot of time browsing the Facebook page. Cheers Wayne
  20. A few more. Roll on the next one! Cheers Wayne
  21. Well that went quick! Thanks to Brian and Paul for allowing Tunnock Yard to come along in progress form. I was hoping to have the fiddle yard on as well but I'm yet to get the woodwork done due to the crappy weather. At least I held my word and it was operational allowing some movement, albeit limited. Here's a few from me of this great show.
  22. Crikey!!... Is this officially the first diesel to visit? I wish I was there at the time this historic event occurred! Hope you had a good show sir! Cheers Wayne
  23. Post deleted due to duplication by my dumb phone!
