  1. Hi Dave, I'll post the plan at the end of the week when I'm done laying, it's pretty simple though and similar to the one I posted on Facebook, except I've moved a point as per your advice. Cheers
  2. As promised a quick update. Droppers soldered to the track and the first pieces are going down, I'm laying all loose for the moment until testing is complete then I'll fix it down.
  3. That's fair enough. I did see the content at the start but didn't realise it was the full list, my fault. Thanks
  4. Well here we are again, I'd almost forgotten about this thread. First of all I apologise for the lack of updates, Tunnock Yard has been through many changes of track plan and I wasn't happy with most of them to be honest. Having played about a bit the one I've chosen seems to make sense for the kind of things I want to. The fact that I started this thread almost six years ago with no finished layout is annoying to me, it should not take this long to build a small layout when friends and fellow modellers can knock one out in a few months. Anyway tonight I started soldering the first droppers, the layout has it's debut show in January and I promised it would be running and at least have a little scenery on it. My aim from now on is to post an update at least once a week until the end of the year. I'll try and get the first one up tomorrow because I have all day to get some work done. Many thanks to those that are following this for bearing with me. Cheers.
  5. I noticed on visiting my local supermarket that BRM was on the shelf, but as I was unable to browse I gave it a miss. I seem to remember a while back on the old forum that a post said that the plastic sleeves were being dropped?
  6. Hello, I've just finished reading this topic and it was great to finally see this at Taunton today. As a converted EM'er (September 2016) myself, it was nice to see a layout from a finer scale attend the show. I hope you don't mind me sharing a couple of pictures.
  7. Hi Chris. Is there any news with the slightly bigger version of Dock Street? Cheers, Wayne
  8. Work has stopped on the photo plank while I finished a commission job, this is also the same reason I haven't posted any updates for a bit. Here's a picture taken earlier this evening after delivering the wagons back to the owner. He's asked me to build and paint two more, a bogie steel carrier and an EWS open wagon so this time I'll document those on here as I go. Cheers.
  9. While they do look good models I've always been wary of getting a Hornby 31 due to the Mazak issue.
  10. A bit more progress has seen the rear area roughed in, I've also temporarily placed the bridge and signal so I can see how things will look. The front area to the right will be home to a skip/plant hire company so I'll need to build a workshop building at some point.
  11. I've been toying with building one for a while. It'll be handy to experiment with scenery as it's not my strong point to honest. 37196 is ready for decals now, the loco posed on the plank is 37670.
  12. A little more work on this earlier before stopping for lunch and I can finally get an idea on how this will look and so far it's sort of what I had in mind. The area behind the 37 is only roughed in at the moment. Still much to do but it's nice to see the front coming together, I'm pleased with how it's looking so far. Cheers.
  13. While other projects are moving forward to completion I decided that I wanted to build a new diorama on which to photograph finished models. I also wanted it powered so I could use it for programming and also have a working signal. The idea is a single track branch that could be anywhere, but based on a photo in South Wales. I decided that I would add a bridge so I could also try modelling an unkempt road, again an idea from South Wales. Lots more to do, but the photo shows where I am after about an hour before work.
  14. The new extension is looking great, it'll look good with some stock on it. If that is one of the Steelman Royale shunters, they looked much better in green! Cheers.
  15. Nice to see Frampton today at Lydney. I popped along for a bit of lineside action with some sarnies and flask of tea hoping a mainline loco might appear, instead only the local pilot 08623 was working the trip today. A couple of snaps were taken for the album before heading home. Cheers.
  16. Thanks to everyone involved for putting together an excellent show! Here's a couple of pictures from today. Featuring Dubmill Sidings, Bradwell Point and Harton Gill. Cheers.
  17. Out of interest does anyone know how easy it is to get to this new venue from the station? Cheers.
  18. Out of interest what stock will Oak Road be running at Swansea? Cheers.
  19. I always thought Anti-Vandal paint wasn't meant to dry? Note to self, don't decide your fascias need another coat of paint the day before a show!!
  20. Hi Tim! Thanks for stopping by! First of all I can't believe it's been two years since I last posted in this thread! Secondly to answer your question, Dragon Steels still exists it's just in storage in the landing cupboard. I'm potentially thinking of rebuilding it but at the moment I need to get the Speedlink layout presentable as it's booked for a show in January. Cheers.
  21. My pair arrived on Saturday and I was most pleased! They'll be used on my layout Trevanna Dries, worked in and out by a class 08 along with VGA vans. Well done to the Kernow team for getting a much needed wagon done and for saving me a scratch building job! Cheers.
  22. Good afternoon! I apologise for the lack of updates on this one, I've been quite busy working on some O gauge wagons for a friend of mine. Today however saw the arrival of some much needed wagons for the Trevanna clay fleet. I decided to treat myself to some Kernow PRA wagons, these will be tripped to/from Trevanna works by the resident 08 shunter along with VGA vans. This is based on the very same trip workings that ran to Pontsmill. On first impression the model seems to capture the prototype well and it certainly looks like a PRA, the only slight downside is that the plastic handrails are quite flimsy. Here's a quick out of the box picture.
  23. Hi Andi! I wouldn't say it's easy but it's certainly not difficult. I'm yet to be convinced that full replacement makes a huge difference but I'm yet to do a comparison. I'm doing it so I can try and keep consistency in the fleet. I'd definitely suggest giving it a go though. Hope that helps. Cheers.
