  1. Hi @saxokid, thanks for the kind words. I don't usually post mid painting photos but some people like to see the various stages. This afternoon saw the grey applied on 37196, as can be seen some touching up Will be needed (as with any paint project) but the next job will be the black areas and to get the nose ends painted. Once this is done it'll be level pegging with the 26 and I can transfer both at the same time, then some weathering. Right, no more of this one until it's finished!
  2. Just a quick update before I post anymore pictures. All main livery elements have been applied on the 26 so that's now ready for transfers. This evening saw the first paint go on 37196, I always work from light to dark so the yellow areas were done first. I'll get this one to the same stage as the 26 and then I can start putting transfers on. Cheers, Wayne
  3. Hi Rob, I like very much how this has come along, having followed right from the start. Sorry if I missed it but can I ask what are the dimensions are please? Cheers Wayne
  4. While the paint is hardening off on the class 26, I thought I'd make more progress on 37196. This one has been waiting to get finished for far too long as I get easily distracted by building wagons, but with a potential show coming up for my Cornish layout Trevanna Dries the shift is on as there's also a second rake of clay hoods to be done, plus possibly another 37 or maybe a 47. I'm now in the process of fitting the etched components, already fitted is the fan grille and now I'm doing the windscreens. It seems there's two approaches to this but on this model I'm trying the method from another article that seems easier. One these are fitted I can finally start painting, the loco will be finished in mid 1986 condition. More soon! Cheers.
  5. Thanks Will! It's getting there, the next job on 37196 will be to fit roof grilles and windscreen etcheds. Will look forward to seeing what you do with the ViTrains example. I only stuck with Bachmann ones as I managed to pick one up at a good price a few years ago and wanted consistency in the fleet. Cheers Wayne
  6. Hi Will, Progress on the 47 is looking good, I think the ViTrains model is a good base to work from and I have a couple waiting to be done. One question about how you photograph your projects though, I've just posted a photo of my 26 in my workbench thread but I have all the garden table in the background. What do you use, it looks like a white tablecloth or something? Cheers, Wayne
  7. Hello! I've not posted in here for a while but I have been working on projects in between doing some O guage wagons for a fellow modeller. The photo shows the progress on my model of 26034. This is a Heljan model picked up a couple of years ago for a bargain price. A few basic modifications have been carried out including changing location of roof vents, fitting an etched roof grille and removal of mould lines. The original intention was for this to be a quick renumbering project but on looking at the paint shade of the model as it comes, I knew this wasn't going to be the case! More soon.
  8. Looks good so far keV! I've never done any patio modelling, but I am tempted! Wayne
  9. Hi James! Wow! You certainly have been busy, it's been a while since I visited your (and others) threads as I'm not a huge fan of this version of the forum to be honest! When I last checked in you were working on the PCAs. It's nice to finally see you tackle some 37s, even if they're slightly dirtier than I would like, but then I model the late 80s - mid 90s. You put me to shame! I'll have to pull my finger out as I'm also doing some O gauge wagons for a friend as he's not a fan of painting models, he prefers the building. Cheers, Wayne
  10. Very true Will! I don't stay in hotels often but I work shifts and that also impacts on modelling time.
  11. Hi Rob! I've just come across this and it looks like it'll be an excellent project. I see it hasn't been update for quite a time so I hope this one still exists? Cheers, Wayne
  12. Hi Paul, I'm glad you posted that photo, I currently have 4 Lima PGAs on their way to me destined to become salt hoppers. Many thanks for posting it up, it makes the job of locating where to cut much easier. With my 4 I should be able to get 3 salts. Cheers
  13. Hi Peter, I've been reading back about your class 26. Can I ask how you did the fibreglass roof panel effects? I'm currently working on a model of 26034 in Railfreight livery. Cheers, Wayne
  14. Hi Will, To be honest I would avoid steel rail for this very reason. It will also rust if the layout is to be stored in a location where temperature might vary. I'd stick with Nickel Silver, no rust at all. That's my two pence worth. It's looking good! Cheers,
  15. Excellent thread this, I've just found the perfect picture of a structure I can 'tweak' for my next layout. Cheers,
  16. Hi Will, Over on the DEMU forum you mentioned you mentioned your 47 project on here. Do you know where I can find it? It would be nice to have a read. Cheers
  17. Hi Rob, To be honest I haven't done anything for a bit, I keep thinking that what I want to do won't work. The same thing happened when I built Dragon Steels but I think that turned out okay! I think I need to get it out and just have a play with some stock and get it sorted, it really shouldn't take this long to build a six foot'ish layout!! l'll have to pop over to your thread once I find it, to be honest I'm not a huge fan of this updated version of the forum. Cheers.
  18. Afternoon, I've not posted in here for a while so I thought I should fix that. This Bachmann 37 has been waiting to get finished for too long, I have another in a box which has been waiting even longer, but I'll show that again. This one will be 37196 Tre Pol and Pen in Railfreight large logo livery and will form part of a mid 80s fleet for use on my Cornish layout Trevanna Dries. So far it's old brandings have been removed, the bodysides rubbed down and a couple of steps filled in. The next job involves some cutting work around the windscreen area. More soon.
  19. Hi @south_tyne, As @marc smith said I am now the owner of Dave Tailby's Trevanna Dries. It's a lovely little layout and I took it on as a move into EM gauge. I've taken it to a few local shows but Dave has taken it up and down the country as all the show badges came with it. I'd really like to do more shows with it but I need to find a way to put my own 'stamp' on it. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Cheers,
  20. Hi Will, Nice to see the 60 article in Traction. Although the Hornby 60 is a lovely model, I just can't justify the cost of one at the moment. I have two Lima ones I'm looking at rebuilding as I have the bits already, both will be Canton based probably one Metals and one Petroleum.
  21. Hi Kevin, No need to thank me I'm happy to help anyone if I can. Yes I know the clip you mean, that was filmed when the layout was under the management of the previous owner before it came to me. Yes the layout only has one point, anymore would look wrong on a small layout like this. I know what you mean about traversers, I was in a group where we built one for our layout but we scrapped it after several issues. In the end we went for cassettes. I hope you'll stay tuned and I promise I'll post something when I get a moment and there's something worth showing. Cheers,
  22. Hi Kevin, Thanks for coming back, I apologise for not having posted anything new for a while. There will be an update soon but I've just been busy with the new job and working on an O gauge project for a friend, so please bear with me. To answer your question, at the country end yes the layout uses a sector plate. The downside is it's only one road so I have to set up each movement before it can run, however this does mean a gap between trains as the layout is on a single track brach after all. At the clay works end there's a fixed couple of fiddle yard roads, but there's limited capacity so some stock handling is required which I'm not too keen on to be honest but hey ho! I hope that helps answer your question? If you want to know anything else, please feel free to ask. Cheers,
  23. Hi Chris, Looks great with some corporate blue stock. I bet the track was groaning under the weight of that 40 though! Cheers,
  24. Barton Hill assumed responsibility for all postal traffic towards the end of July 1995, I think some work was also done at SPM. Off Topic but July was also the month of the last booked double headed Silver Bullet. Cheers
  25. Hi Stoker, Yes looking at the lighting does feature in my plans for adding a couple of changes, at present the loading area is equipped with working lights but they're white LEDs. I'm also looking at extending the works a bit and I'll start planning this soon. Cheers
