    Bachmann J72

It comes with 3mm axles, so I just opened out the bearings and gear to 1/8th", plus bushing the coupling rods, to use replacement Gibson wheels which are 1/8" axles. No issues with clearances anywhere.
  2. The ebay seller has had at least two auctions for these already, and has another set on now https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4MM-ETCHED-KIT-42-72xx/274116174227?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  3. MRJ 31 has an article about it. Beaten to it by Jerry!
  4. Hello Tony, yes, the anonymous 04 was my work. I probably removed the numbers too, and I cannot remember now why it was not re numbered! The K's 04s still run perfectly, and will outperform haulage wise their more modern Bachmann counterparts, of which there were a few on Retford.
  5. I wondered the same thing......google is your friend! https://motorsportbroadcasting.com/2019/04/15/coulthard-to-step-away-from-channel-4s-f1-coverage-for-three-races-this-season/
  6. My understanding is that Andrew's last show will be Railex at Stoke Mandeville next year.
  7. Always pays to be careful with Hornby pickups when tweaking them out for the wider gauge. Yes, can still get KM 10.5 mm from EMGS stores......what do you think my ore hoppers ride on?
  8. I've EM'd one using Kean Maygib all metal wheels...…….and the pickups just bend out enough to contact the wheel rear faces.
  9. I agree, Expo with no t-b-g humour was rather odd!
  10. EM Gauge Society stores do them in 0.25mm, 0.5mm and 1mm thickness. Alan Gibson do the same. Both of the above also do 2mm bore in the same 3 thicknesses.
  11. I remember that, think it was at a Slaithwaite Expo and they were my EM converted 9F's!
  12. Cracking little show.....enjoyed my visit! Not too many sheep around either!
  13. Alan Gibson also do some plastic ones which are sometimes useful in awkward situations
  14. Maybe that is why, in my experience over recent years, very, very few ask if they may take pictures or video.

    Roy Jackson

Yes, you must be referring to "Rastus", the red rat who allegedly lived under the platforms at King's Cross. He still exists somewhere in Roy's "shed". Some shed, As someone once remarked, you could fit three of their bungalows in the same floor space! Roy was certainly a prodigious modeller, and was always prepared to hep folk, and led by example when he said that you have to actually do something rather than just talk about it. I will miss the camaraderie and friendship of many years.....life will not be quite the same without him. RIP Roy. Pete (Tony just beat me too it about Rastus!)
  16. I think that sums it up very nicely Paul. One of Roy's lessons for me was that Roy always said you had to do something, not just talk about it! How very true. Most definitely a one off! Pete
  17. Hello David, and thankyou for that information, very useful.
  18. Fantastic and very atmospheric layout, a credit to you. Unless I missed it somewhere, what are the approximate dimensions of it?
  19. Firstly, many thanks for the compliments. Secondly, we have not been invited to Doncaster, but the layout's next show is ExpoEM Autumn (or North!) 7/8th September this year at Kettlethorpe School, Wakefield, which is not a million miles away from Doncaster. Show details are in the Exhibition thread on this site. As for the structure colours, I'll have to ask Mark to give me the details and post later.
  20. Our blog has been updated by Martin with a few more of Tony Lambert's pics which he took for the MRJ 271 article, which were not used. http://southpelawem.blogspot.com/
  21. To be fair to Roy, he is behaving!!
