  1. I might point out that Narrow Gauge and Industrial Review is also a small publication, yet it's subs copies are bagged, addressed and sent out direct from the printers in clear poly sealed bags. I think it is probably the choice of Cygnet to this themselves, rather than the printer doing this for them.
  2. Your comment about "laid down" sounding like building ships is quite appropriate for Hessle Haven! To those who are not Hull/Hessle natives, Richard Dunstan's shipyard was located on the bank of the Humber and Hessle Haven. Always seemed to be newly launched vessels being fitted out in the Haven itself.
  3. Hello Mike, having looked back through the G5 build, I may have missed it, but what motor/gearbox configuration have you used? Many thanks for continuing your inspirational builds too! Pete
  4. Thought this needed a bump! Hope to see some of you tomorrow.
  5. My local shop rang me this afternoon to say its there waiting for me!
  6. Yes, one and the same sadly.
  7. Looks like a gritting lorry too rather ironically!
  8. I was chatting with Colin of Alan Gibson yesterday, and he said he would have on the stand 7mm kits for S&D 7F, RHD – Deeley Tender & LHD - Fowler Tender. If all goes well he should have 7mm GER T26/LNER E4 and if Photo Etch keep to their word and deliver a week late he should have 4mm GER T26/LNER E4 and 4mm LMS Class 7F ‘Austin Seven’ These are in addition to those kits listed as available on his website......plus all the usual wheels and castings etc.
  9. Many thanks to Derek and his team for yet another cracking show. If you missed it, you missed a first rate show, everything there was really top drawer stuff! On a personal note, thank you Derek for everything you have done over the years for the Society and EM modelling. Pete

And if I had had my way, it would have been wired conventional DC from the outset.....!!
  11. Hi Mike, many thanks for the smokebox plate information.....very useful.
  12. I always make sure the chamfer on the axle ends is increased from that as supplied, and I also twist a 6mm drill in the axle hole on the rear of the wheel (just spin it round once with your fingers) to knock the square off the hole corner. As you say you have packed the wheel press face with plastic to press on the tyre face.....can't see what you are doing wrong. Alfsboy...as for pressing steel into plastic being dumb....have you any useful suggestion? It is what we have.
  13. Mine matches LochLongs picture with the central flywheel, motor in back to front and goes backwards to convention, which is a simple fix. I'll simply reverse the motor wires on the PCB. Looking at a different route to EM'ing it though!
  14. You might wish to re word the thread title......South Pelaw has nothing to do with Pelaw on the 3rd rail system. South Pelaw junction is on the west edge of Chester le Street, Pelaw is on the south Tyneside electrified lines.
  15. Why? Its true!! Seeing your build gave me the nudge to have a go....
  16. Obtained a copy from my local model shop yesterday......congratulations to Karl Crowther on another fascinating issue.
  17. Both the centre and trailing wheel pickups are below railhead level...certainly not ideal.
  18. Who could forget that shop....used to shop save my copy of the Modeller every month!!
  19. Go back to post 81 on this thread.....Paul takes you through a step by step scratchbuild
