  1. Brass bearings, 3mm axles, and AGW are working on the driving wheel.
  2. No idea Porcy, but he must have some funds to keep paying the not inconsiderable exhibition stand rents, otherwise he wouldn't be getting repeat invites to the same shows year in, year out. Cannot see he makes the rent back in sales of stock he doesn't seem to have on display.
  3. As another confirmed EM man, I can only agree with t-b-g about the rise in RTR quality and as much as I encourage folk to dismantle their shiny new purchases for conversion, I can see the terror in their eyes at times when I have one in pieces in front of them! I was in my local model shop last Tuesday, and was handed a yard, or was it a metre, of Peco's new 00 bullhead track. Apart from the thicker depth sleepers in comparison to SMP or the original C&L track, it looks another quantum leap for 00 modellers. Ought to look as good as SMP or C&L when ballasted and weathered. Certainly makes you think!
  4. Hello Tony, Once the diesels took over, the hoppers were branded "Max speed 25mph", so petty certain they didn't go that much faster even behind 9F's
  5. Taxi? Just a thought.......spoil yourself!
  6. Gilling, North Riding of Yorkshire, a 5" Ground level railway
  7. Locos were allowed on Driffield drops at one time until I believe a Class31 fell in almost!
  8. Hi Paul, great stuff as always! I know its a prototype track plan, but how would you run round an in coming train without the loco going onto the coal cells, which I assume is a no no? Was there a loop off the modelled area? Or is it a case of two locos in steam?!
  9. Thank you Sandra, e mail received too!
  10. Having got as far as the error message last night to try and reserve one, do I have to do it again to reserve one for 10p?
  11. Our blog http://southpelawem.blogspot.co.uk/ has just been updated....
  12. See Swindon123's post 1306 on this thread.....
  13. Fair enough! I was looking at driving wheels lists......
  14. In what way do you wish AGW (Alan Gibson) to "change their current policies towards RTR conversions"? They have produced wheels for all the major RTR releases in recent years in both EM and P4/S4. I fail to see what else you expect?
  15. What wheel is 4838W? It's not in Gibsons catalogue! After a lot of measuring and head scratching, I'm still of the opinion that the cylinders will need widening for EM using Gibson wheels.....which of course don't come as standard on 2mm axles.
  16. Hello Tony, when I used the term "chassis" within Malcolm Crawley's hearing once, he gently said to me, "Peter, only cars, televisions and ladies have chassis....locomotives have frames"! As only Malcom could....
  17. The situation you describe is correct as far as I know. The remnants of the Biggleswade crew went on to build and exhibit Stainmore Summit, which has now retired, and are currently busy building South Pelaw, the link to our blog is below. http://southpelawem.blogspot.co.uk/
  18. Believe so, yes! Sorry, posted this before I saw the above reply!
  19. That's the one used for EM North I believe.
  20. The Oxford Radial has 2mm driving axles and 1.5mm bogie/trailing axles. Oh, and initial ones came with pizza cutter flanges! Now, the driving axles revolve in nice brass bushes, but if they are lifted out, you are left with the cast chassis slots a perfect fit for 1/8th axles with no slop. The bogie is a plastic moulding, so opening the axle holes out for normal 2mm axles is straightforward. The trailing axle slot needs a slight bit of work with a file to take a 2mm axle. Otherwise, its straightforward, mine runs very well.....(Gibson wheels from the standard range)....might not have sexy brass bushes, but its no different to earlier Bachmann chassis with axles running directly in the chassis block.
  21. They had 2 ex XP64 coaches, long retired due to corrosion and asbestos contamination, and I believe have left the railway for pastures new.
  22. They look cute Paul.......will these replace the mythical etches someone Pickering way once did for a Rosedale layout, or are they a different hopper altogether?
  23. Yes to three, and the Q6 is nearly there. I'm at Expo EM North demonstrating EM conversions, will have a K1, 9F and a Q6 with me. Feel free to pop by and have a chat.
