  1. Today I printed out the trackplan in full scale On the second picture you could see a Jinty, there I plan to put in the engine shed for the quarry shunter. Where the station wagon and the caravan is placed I plan to creat a camping ground. Markus
  2. Last weekend I gave Matthias (aka Haeckmaen) one part of my Leckmelm (ex Romesdale) modules. He will relay the track. Yesterday I started with the benchwork for the new Leckmelm modules. I was not satisfied with the laid down trackwork and partly with the landscape. On the new Leckmelm there will be gravel loading facility at the back of the straight section. The track befor will be a storage siding for mineral wagons. The wagons could be exchanged between the two tracks via a switchback which will curves along the curved mainline. there will be a short track with a small engine shed for an industrial shunter which is stationed there. Markus
  3. Here are some pictures from the modelrailway exhibition, that we attended last weekend at Frankfurt. First some pictures from our modular layout. Now some pictures of the H0 layout owned by the modelrailway Club of Griesheim, which held the exhibiton. A narrowgauge modelrailway layout in gauge 1f. The track gauge is 16.5mm at a scale of 1/32 I had no chance to make more pictures from all layouts, because we needed all hands, as we gave the children the possibility to run trains on our layout. Markus
  4. Today I received some cars for my layout. from left Scammel Scarab, Morris Minor, Morris Mini by Oxford Diecast, Harrington Cavalier by Graham Farish and 2x Opel Rekord by Busch. I also received a Graham Farish LMS 50ft Full Brake in British Railway livery. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-NdfxGoCvLO8/VFpS9EVJ0OI/AAAAAAAAETc/0VlvtBBrjRg/s912/DSCI2208.JPG{ I also continued with the work on the background, but I will show these in another post. At the moment I'm a bit busy with preparing some of my modules for an exhibition at Frankfurt. So if someone is in Frankfurt/Main next weekend, he could see my and other modules at the 28th Griesheimer Modelrailway days. http://www.mcg83.de Markus Markus
  5. Hello Andrew, I think the embossed card, could be of Vollmer or Faller origin, But in my opinion it is of Vollmer origin. Markus
  6. Today I continued on the railway. First I fixed the bend walls on my goods shed. For these I glued a strip a of wood with superglue against the wall and secured it with some clamps. Here the result. Some for the background At last I started building the Midland Signalbox form Ratio. But I'm not sure about the location. Nearer to the Station entrance? nearer to the stairs. Or to the platforms. I also want to model an allotment for the signalman. Markus
  7. Yesterday I installed the backgrounds for Ullapool After that I put some low relief retainigwalls in place.. These afternoon I built some stairs, so that the signalmen won't have to walk long if the fancy a pint from the nearby Argyll Hotel. Markus
  8. Today a short film. My Farish Class 25 get some running time. I also gave my Dapol 27 with my testing unit a short run. The Peco Bolster wagon are equipped with Dapol NEM coupler pockets and magnetic coupler. The Farish Class 55 bogie got a Dapol magnetic coupler in the modified original coupler pocket. Markus
  9. Today I made another video update of my Garve and Ullapool Railway. Markus
  10. Today I did a bit of modelling The mentioned coal merchant is in need of a coal staith. These is from MBZ too. I only painted the ironwork with a rusty paint and the rest was weathered with powder. After these I started with the workshop for the boatbuilder. It is from the 00 Modelrailway Scenery range and was scaled down to 51% with the printer settings. The walls are standing now and an employe seems to have decorated the inner walls. Markus
  11. These morning I finished the shed building But I'm not sure about the location. Should I use it as an office for the coal merchant. Then there are three possible places. a) B) oder c) From these three possibilities b is my favourite, because with a) and c) I have reduced access from the road/industrial area on the right Or I use the shed as an office for the boat builder. These is my personal favourit at the moment. I'm also thinking of buying another one, these I think could be used as a crew mess for the MPD. Markus
  12. These morning I continued with my work on the warehouse. It is now finished except for the chimney pots. Then I started with the small goods shed from MBZ. Because of the large roof overhang of the model I reduced the length of the imitation of the woodwork under the roof. With these done I think it looks like a prefab house. I will use some corrugated plastic card for the roof, so that it looks like corrugatet iron. Markus
  13. Today I continued with the construction work, now the second building is nearly fininshed. Yesterday I received a parcel from Conrad Electronic. Part of the delivery were two Opel Kadett B from Herpa. I know they are not of a british prototype but they look similar to some british cars from the late 60s and early 70s. Markus
  14. Today before going to work I started with the next building for the textile mill Markus
  15. Today I finished the roof of the factory, but a few things are still missing. Markus
  16. Since it went quiet about my Garve and Ullapool Railway. Today I decided to work on the planned textile mill for Ullapool. The first building is the Modelrailway Scenery factory kit. For quite a while I recognised that on my Ullapool goods shed, the walls with door openings are wraping. I will try to fix it, but if that doesn't work I will redo the shed. Markus
  17. And here is a movie I made during the meeting. Markus
  18. Here as I promised some days ago are some pictures taken by me during our Great-britN meeting. We had a good time. Regarding Duckunders. Please don't underestimate the use of duckunders and the height of the modules. At our meeting we have to use one because of the size of the room. If we hadn't we wouldn't have chilled drinks. But also on maybe a future layout, a duckunder will shorten your way to folloy a trains of 30 or more yards because of a diverging branchline on your modular layout. And don't underestimate the height. We at Great-britN had. And now we decided to rise the height above floorlevel to 130 centimeters. We all won't get younger. Markus
  19. As promised the pictures I've taken during our meeting Markus
  20. Hello, regarding the height difference between the different module systems. If you built legs that could be adjusted in length, there would be no need for special modules with an incline. I built my last module legs after a method from a friend. Here I made a photo for comparison. On the left a legt with the usual leg length for a FREMO module height of 1300 mm (roughly 51"), in the middle for a module height of about 1100 mm (roughly 43") as used by Great-brit N and on the left the shortest length possible of about 3 feet. Here on the picutre you could see them with the height for the use with a flat module, so you could put the legs directly under the decking board of the module. Markus
  21. To avoid double or tripple DCC adresses for locomotives at FREMO. The FREMO groups have someone who manage the DCC adresses for the group. Usually when you need an adress for your loco, you contact him and he usually gives you an number block of ten adresses. E.g. 1000 to 1009. Usually at FREMO there are only 4 digit DCC adresses used. Markus
  22. Hello Andy, I agree with the others, that 4mm Banana plugs and sockets are prefarable. With the 3.5mm phono plugs you can't turn the modules arround in the arrangement, without extra adaptor cable. Markus
  23. Hello, something for your understanding. FREMO modules weren't intended for use on official exhibitions in the beginning. The usual FREMO meetings are no exhibitions, they are meetings where the members and like minded persons come together to run train on an modular arrangement. But exhibitions could be done with FREMO modular arrangements. At the Frankfurt group we attended a few exhibitions in the last few years, and the Great-britN modules also were seen on the exhibition circuit. On the exhibitions which were attended by the Frankfurt group, we tried to let the visitors participate on running trains. We spoke to them and encouraged them to run a train to the timetable. Interestingly the children did make use of these offer. But only a handful of adults could be persuaded to run a train. But at these exhibitions we handed out timetables to children for two or three hours in advance. They were accompanied by one of our group. But after some time many of the could run the trains on their own. The small ones had to use their parents for reading the timetables and fast clocks, but they have fun. Here are some pictures from FREMO modular arrangements at exhibitions. FREMO N-RE modular arrangement in the background, and a 0 gauge modular layout built to some unknown standards in the foreground FREMO Great-britN modules at the model raliway exhibiton at Kaarst. FREMO Great-britN modules at the Irvine show in 2012 held by the Kilmarnock & District Model Railway Club. In Germany the FREMO Great-britN modules also attended the Intermodellbau at Dortmund in 2009 Markus
  24. Hello, speaking of adaptors. Last year I joined the FREMO Regional meeting at Hanau. and one of our members had an old HEB moduel (these is a modular norm created by a model railway club in the Frankfurt area). These module was incooperated in the FREMO module arrangement. by two adaptor modules, and maybe other module legs. I think for modules with only the railway line on it there is not much difference if it is build to FREMO, FREEMO oder other standarts. But on station modules or modules with some kind of junction it would be different because of the operating system the standarts are using. So using a module prepared for a DCC system won't fit without much rewiring on a DC modular arrangement, the other way round it will. Markus
  25. Hello Cromptonnut, I don't know how many FREEMO modules with a british theme are out there, but there are british themed FREMO modules here for a length of line of about 35 to 40 meters. (38 to 43 feet) in OO. And about 33 meters of Great-britN modules in Germany, and as far as I know a british model railway club is building some Great-britN modules too. Markus
