  1. Hello, the Foden looks very good, is there a source where we could get it from? Markus
  2. Some other pictures from the layout. Markus
  3. Yesterday I made some pictures on the layout. Markus
  4. Hello, the goods shed received the roof texture. Markus
  5. Today I continued with the goods shed. I received the missing styrene strips two days ago. First I put the strips on the walls. Next I did the roof. And last but not least I painted the walls. Markus
  6. I continued with my work at Ullapool I finished the street at the near the station and the retainingwalls. The wall oposit the trainshed had a 2.5mm Balsa wood core glued with Scalescenes texture. The other wall are two plys of 1mm styrene laminated togethers, these wall is also glued with Scalescenes texture. I also continued with stamping the cobblestones, which will go on for some time. And the harbour wall got its texture too. Markus
  7. Hello Dave, I've looked at Google Maps for Haymarket Depot, should the trackplan not be turned about 180°? So that the locos/DMUs could directly drive to Waverley Station? Markus
  8. Hello, I made a film showing an overview of the Garve and Ullapool Railway. In the future I hope to show some more films with progress on the layout. Sorry if I'm not speaking all words correctly but I'm no nativ speaker. Markus
  9. The last two days I continued with my goodsshed I applied a 0,5mm styrene sheet on the wooden core of the building. For the board'n batten structure I used 0.1x0.2 styrene profiles. I cute the profiles to length. I have drawn pencil lines on the wall. Then I glued the profiles with styrene glue on the walls. Unfortunatly I only have ordered only on pack, so I could only finish two walls. I also built the base for the roof. Markus
  10. Beside the Goods shed there are some other little projects at the moment. First I plan to build a small row of workers cottages for the Leckmelm Quarry. The cottages are based on a John Ahern plan, but because it should be a simple workers cottage so it get a simpler roof. I also started with the base on a small module between Leckmelm and Glenbogle Viaduct. Another picture of the goods shed, which now got a a base. I also plan a lowrelief warehouse which will also based on a John Ahern plan. Markus
  11. Today I gave my new Dapol Class 27 a day out on the Garve and Ullapool Railway. The loco runs good. I had changed the factory fitted Gaugemaster DCC 23 against a Bachmann decoder. Because with a 4 digit adress the loco stutters, and I couldn't fix it. Now with the Bachmann one it runs smooth. The stuttering in the video comes from the video editing software. Markus
  12. Today I worked an a little project. Ben Alder of these parish send me a drawing of a Higland Railway Goods Shed. I printed it out and checked the dimensions of the drawing if they fit for 2mm scale. To my surprise they were spot on, and so I copied the drawing to 1mm plywood. Because plywood is quite rigid in comparison to balsawood, I decided to laminate the outside of the shed with plastic/wood or plastic strips to resemble the wooden cladding. After I cut out the walls I made a quick assembly with selotape and put it for some photos on the layout. Now I joined the walls permanently together and at the moment the glue is setting. Markus
  13. Here a small platelayers mess I've built early these year for one of my Great-britN modules. I used balsawood for the covered with Scalescenes textures for the stonebuilding. The shed was made of Corrugated plastic sheet. Markus
  14. To get some diversion from stamping cobble stones I started with building some new modules. During the last Great-britN meetings there was a shortage of curved modules, so I started building some of them. For transportation I want to incooperate them in a transport unit. To get some diversion I choose a Damprofile for the middle module and for the outer ones a transition from slope to dam. A few days ago I finished the raw construction. The modules could be arranged as a 90° curve or as a waved line. Assembly as a 90° curve: alternate assemblyt: Markus
  15. Today I continued with applying Moltofill in most of the goodsyard/harbour area. And I conitinued with stamping the cobblestones. Now a first area is complete Markus
  16. For today I've got two pictures of a goods train with empty Fish vans for Ullapool, hauled by two Class 20. And in the Ullapool goods area, I continued with applying more Moltofill. Markus
  17. Here are the car cards I use. They are generated by a database available for FREMO members especially for N gauge and TT gauge. I use the UIC Codes for the wagons on the cards to identify the car cards more easily for me and my friends. Markus
  18. The work in Ullapool continues during the summer During the last few day I converted some Peco, NGS kits and a Farish RCH 3 Plank, and a Parkside Dundas Pipe wagon to the Dapol NEM Coupler adapter. I also began to fill the space between the tracks in the goods area with a product that is sold as Modellier Moltofill, it is a kind of Polyfillia but which is not so hard when it ist dry. Then I used a small stamp to press in the cobbles, one by one, which will be a long lasting duty, and it is sometimes a little bit boring. Because of these I started to build the Scalescenes Lock Keeper Cottage, and today I finished the mainbuilding except for the Chimney pots. Markus
  19. Hello, your scenery looks very good to me. Are your Car Cards of the FREMO type? They look very familiar to me. Markus
  20. Hello Anthony, maybe you could only use the drawers for your fiddle yards und put the fiddle yard around 1 feet away from their intended position. Ther you could place a small turntable where you could turn locomotives. The sequence would be. The train arrives at one track on the fiddle yard. The engine is uncouples and the loco propels to the small turntable. Here the engine is turnes. The traverser is no positioned that the loco could runround the train on a empty track. The loco has arrived at the entering track of the fiddle yard. Now position the traverser so that the loco could enter the track with the train from which the locomotive was uncoupled. Markus
  21. Hello Ian, the access is made by a Peco Code 55 Flextrack. It is very reliable. A friend of mine did use these system for about 10 years. Markus
  22. About 3 weeks ago I held an operating session with some of my friends. After a full english breakfast on Saturday morning we started with running the Garve and Ullapool Railway for the first time according to a timetable. For the operation we decided to settle for the late 1960s to mid 1970s. So there were no steam engines in use. The morning timetable started slowly with some passenger trains, but around midday there were 3 goods trains going to Ullapool within hours, that have to be shunted at Ullapool. What matters worse was that there was the regular passenger train movements. After that thing calmed down a bit, and on the afternoon timetable the fictious Branchline could be served with a goodstrain. With the expirience from the first timetable we made some conclusions for the following timetabel operation. And the second timetable went very well. Here is the link to my picasa web album https://picasaweb.google.com/107465074458422577260/SessionApril2013?authkey=Gv1sRgCLetpPizk_bVmwE The pictures are made by some friends of mine and myself. Markus
  23. Since my last post I continued with the trainshed. I used Balsawood and card for the construction of the shed, and used Scalescenes texture for the wall texture of the interior, which stil need some detailing. At the end I will use Scalescenes Random Ashlar Texture for the outside of the trainshed. Markus
  24. Hello, due to a hint from a friend from my german british railway forum I reworked the fronts of the trainshed. And I added the annex on the side of the trainshed And I added the base for the road at the end of the station. Markus
  25. Today I made a mockup for my Ullapool Trainshed, which is based on the Thurso one. The size did I get from Ben Alder, and the length did I guess by comparing width and length on Google Maps. Here you could see the pictures of the mockup How's your opinion Pictures of the Thurso prototype could be found at Ernies Scottish pictures on page 2 http://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/sets/72157626440055275/with/5648485321/ Markus
