    Heljan class 60

looks lovely in EWS, the sad thing is I cant remember the last time I saw a real 60, in ews or any livery for that matter. The rainstrip above the cabside windows screams a bit...(those rivets reminds me, the imperial war museum is opening soon) will the bufferheads pull out any futher? they look a bit retracted. Toms right, for a 7mm model the 'scoop' really should have a bit more relief. The light clusters are a bit annoying but a nice etch stuck over the top should do the trick and bring them forward. I think Mr Hanson already does 7mm wipacs? Jon

I've enjoyed everything that man has done. A lot of it is on YouTube. I love the fact that he has style.

    Heljan class 60

Will be interesting to see how many 4mm' modern image modellers cave in and buy one of these - I'm sure there must be a lot of enthusiasm for class 60s out there, helped along by the lovely Hornby Model. excellent choice of loco Brian - 001 'Steadfast' comes a close second I think overall though, you cant go wrong with any of the original class 60 names Jon
  7. Ooo...we need a shot showing the all important tumblehome (or lack of (but hopefully not!)) Jon

aha! Yes , someone understood what I meant And that angle would also in turn be visible on the panels that meet and form the leading edge of the cab roof below the air horns: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brianews/5864013528/in/set-72157626905606161 On an unpainted bare shell I'd have thought it would be clearly visible? Hope I'm wrong though? Jon

Not keen on the windscreens - the real things aren't square, or flat Jon
  12. A bit gutted that I didn't ask 'santa' for one of these - the more I see, the more I like it , and its really great the axleboxes were corrected. I think a coat of Kleer would do wonders for the esso liveried ones if they are indeed colored plastic, and some nice laser cut glazing from a certain 'Extreme Etcher' would be lovely too I look forward to seeing one turned into 'Denise' - do show us some pictures richard37670 regards Jon
  13. Royal Sovereign or Diamond Jubilee ? There's only one way to find out...

  14. Good evening, It was great to see this layout for real finally this afternoon, - Myself and 'Shedmaster' were chatting to you while enjoying the failed HST power car 'swap' . This was one of the layouts that made the whole visit worthwhile for us - it not only looks looks like a depot but also has proper plausible depot movements, and with perfect running qualities. Shame we didn't see the push-pull sets in action while we were there..Thanks for your time chatting, hope to see this one again. Jon 43179
  15. agreed - can we have the 'solid' grilles back please ! Jon

    Dapol HST

cos there's no fuel in it Never looked at this closely before , but I'm not sure if they do line up on the real thing - the mk3 has deeper body sides than a power car. There's a good piccy to show this here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/7385-vice-sprinter/page-2&do=findComment&comment=316786 The other thing of course is how well the Dapol bodyshell fits - on mine (I've got three sets) , all the motorised power cars sit a bit different to the dummy ones , no matter how I try and adjust them , plus they don't sit exactly level either which is a bit of a mystery as they all seems to be correctly assembled. The difference in height is due to the roof on the mk3 being too flat - the roof/cantrail is one area where the old Farish mk3 actually looks better, of and also the profile of the ends, regards Jon
  18. The Wessex unit is a big favourite of mine , although for RTR, in terms of a modern(ish) EMU, the 'no brainer' to me has always been the class 319 purely for sphere of operation. They're not as pretty as a 'Pig' though!. There is something about these sole-less modern units that translates very well in model form. I for example wouldn't look twice at a Desiro in real life , but the Bachmann model always gets my attention. Jon
  19. unfortunately the basic mk3 body profile is the same as a Wessex , but that's about it ...lots of differences. The new Chiltern stock , particularly in the latest Chiltern livery does look lovely though - it even makes the humble Turbostar look very classy! Jon
  20. Great to see lots of interest in the class 442 - and why not , lovely looking unit, very colourful liveries too, and DCC sound would be fun as the Wessex makes a proper 'English Electric' noise aswell.. Hope Mr Jones is taking note Jon
  21. The 442 is my stock answer for every "wishlist" , I don't even model 3rd rail but id love a wessex unit purely for its looks. Jon
  22. Class 442 'Wessex' EMU please!
  23. rocking out to some 'old' Marilyn Manson

  24. Wow! I do love the Regiorunner - they are lovely looking units, and nice to travel on . It would be nice to see a proper HO scale model - as i think the Rivarossi one is slightly undersize? Regards Jon
