  1. I'll agree with that the 142 seems most logical as its pretty much the same chassis... and squillions of liveries to play with. Jon

Inner City Sumo. Take fat people from the inner city, dress them in giant nappies and get them to try and push each other out of a circle that we draw with chalk on the ground. Very cheap to make.

  6. Great soundtrack , but the actual film , the acting , i find it all bit , "meh" - just me? Jon
  7. It does indeed, The Graduate featured an earlier series 1 Roundtail 'Duetto' spider with a smaller engine, 1750 i think . Series 2 cars had the restyled kammtail and also gained the 2L engine. Yes, there was a reason Jon
  8. I don't think there will ever be a better looking 'normal' car - don't think even alfa can top the Brera/159 styling (im not a huge fan of he mito/giulietta)

  11. Dare i say it , but a retooled roof for the mk3 could also correct the profile of the roof , as well as cater for the different vents. Would improve the appearance of the models no end Jon

Hi - I proceeded with caution - other than the sound of cracking glue, I didn't break anything - though I did have to 'break' the glue joint that holds the headcode/lighting prisms onto the underside of the cab moulding. If you are careful and separate the lighting unit/headcode glazing into componant parts , then its quite easy to fit the headcodes behind the headcode glazing (where they should be) HTH Jon

Hi Dave , on mine the cabs were glued at the top where the bulkhead slots into the roof (either side of the wires for the cab lights) and either side where the cab clips into the cabside glazing. Regards Jon

nah... Victor is by far the nicest! Mine was a Matchbox one I think. Airfic Vulcan, first run of them now lost in a move some time ago (never made)... shame!

Agreed abotu the victor - the kit needs some modelling to really get it right though. Must put down the trains and build mine...

Morning , Out of all the options I think id prefer a nice little etch for the surrounds , although in order to fit where required it would have to be very delicate , but at least could be pre painted. and fitted with a smear of varnish. I have a bob moore pen but I'm not sure if i'd be able to do a neat enough job with it - particularly round the corners.

Hi all , right , last picture from me tonight - I am good to you lot. got the water out of the headcode box thingy now and popped one of the supplied headcodes in. I'll bow to superior knowledge and let you decide if this now makes the Dapol headcodes look correct or not I'll do the other end and run a fine black pen around all the apetures (after painting the yellow panels of course) , and that should do the trick. So, ive 'ruined' my D1000 , already , do i win a prize? This has been a fun evening! Jon

Five minutes modelling later: (the marks on the glazing is actually a little bit of water stuck behind from rinsing it clean) I just polished the black surrounds off with Cif - easy. It does look better , will see how it then looks with the Dapol numbers popped behind. Jon

er, staring very closely at mine , im pretty sure what the-gog is referring to is the black that's printed on the glazing - it should polish off with some tcut or jif (cif?). Jon

If worlds collide, maybe Dapol could make us a definative TSR2 model... (trying very hard not to rant about that! - both the model and the real thing..)

Yes, just normal cellulose thinners, just a drop on the cotton bud was enough to do three wheels worth - the paint isn't very thick luckily. Jon

Hi Jon - I find its hard to choose one over another as they're all interesting. Much like my class 50 obsession , for that reason its just easier to model all of them Well im bagging 1008 Harrier (aircraft connection) 1018 Buccaneer (the same reason ) and 1071 as I like the extra vents on the cabs. The Rotary windscreen wiper is another fascinating variation, Having originated on boats, I could have told them straight away that it wouldn't work on a loco! Jon

so heres how it looks with the 'polished' wheel rims - I just used a cotton bud and some cellulose to remove the black paint from the edges of thewheels - I think the effect is pretty good - very good in fact For the photo i've popped all the detail bits back on too - and its nice to have parts that actually fit snugly. jon

Just had a go at fitting the alternative brake gear - Make life easy for yourself and remove the body and unclip the front valances first! I'll be re wheeling mine to p4 , but I think the original wheels will look quite good if you take the black paint off the rims, which is the only decoration error I can find with '1000 - might give that a quick try. I wonder , could we have the 'bits' as spares - the speedo moulding could be handy for a few other things... tfn Jon
