  1. POST-DEMU SUMMER UPDATE BARDON PHA/JGA WAGON PROJECT We are working closely with the factory to get the PHA/JGA project to the production stage of the process as soon as practically possible. Unfortunately, Covid has impacted this project, with the delays caused by the epidemic and other resulting issues in China, causing a backlog in the factories. Updated decorated samples have arrived from the factory for final approval ahead of the project moving to the production stage of the process. We are now just awaiting a production slot at the factory for the PHA/JGA wagon project. We will be contacting customers shortly requesting second payments in preparation for production. The PHA/JGA wagons are expected early 2024 and make a perfect working for our forthcoming Class 56 and Class 60 locomotives. Full update here: https://www.cavalexmodels.com/post-demu-summer-update
  2. POST-DEMU SUMMER UPDATE YEOMAN PHA/JYA WAGON PROJECT We have received the first decorated samples of the PHA/JYA bogie (O&K) box wagons from the factory for review and we could not be happier with how these wagons have turned out. It may appear as a simple box wagon but the prototype is very complex in construction and detail and we have captured this faithfully in model form. The factory has really delivered on this wagon with the first painted samples arriving with us to a standard that we would be more than happy with as a production model. Following our inspection the project is now ready to move to the production stage of the process. We are currently working with Ultimate Model Railways to finalise the running numbers for the packs ahead of production. More details and information will be released shortly. The PHA/JYA bogie box wagons can be pre-ordered by clicking on the below link: https://ultimatemodelrailways.com/ Full update here: https://www.cavalexmodels.com/post-demu-summer-update
  3. POST-DEMU SUMMER UPDATE N GAUGE PGA WAGON PROJECT From day one of starting Cavalex Models, the intention has always been to release all our OO gauge products in N gauge, so we are very excited that our first N gauge models will soon be arriving in the U.K. Production of our PGA hopper wagons is complete, with the factory having packaged up the models ready for shipping to the U.K. We are expecting the PGAs to arrive later this month subject to shipping. The Cavalex N gauge PGA wagons are currently available to pre-order from Rails of Sheffield, please see below link: https://railsofsheffield.com/collections/n-gauge-wagons-freight?tags_brand_td93xydblb7cxukrqni65zsz=Cavalex-Models Production Models - Cavalex Models’ N Gauge PGA hopper wagon SVMRC LOUGHBOROUGH SHOW - 12TH AND 13TH OF AUGUST 2023 Last month we attended the Loughborough show with Cav's N gauge layout 'Burton on Trent'. This gave a perfect opportunity to run the first production models of our eagerly awaited N gauge Redland PGA hoppers which we had shipped over especially for the show. The wagons were very well received by the viewing public and looked amazing behind 56010! As a company we are committed to releasing more N gauge products in the future. We hope that the N gauge community can get behind us and support our PGA project to allow us to consider other products in our range being replicated in N gauge too. 4. The factories current delivery date is November.
  5. Look forward to seeing what you do!
  6. Will you be weathering it like in the picture? That would look the business.
  7. No problem and thanks for your support. If you need any further help please get in touch.
  8. Hi, we are sorry to hear that you are having problems with your HAA hopper. We have a rake of 36 of these that we take to various shows and locations for promotional purposes which we get out and put into their boxes each time and none have lost any of their parts yet. I would suggest that you have been unfortunate. If you would like a replacement hopper please drop us a line and we would be happy to help. Regards Cav
  9. Thanks for those. Both locos had the latest sound file blown into them however the blue one doesn't have the production speaker. The speaker in the coal sector liveried 023 does however have the final speaker design.
  10. Excellent, that loco looks really good in the flesh and comes with the Driver Wayne Gaskell etched plates to finish it off. We have just had that loco on the rolling road this morning with the latest sound file from ESU blown into it and it sounds superb. 😁
  11. Hi Martyn, Thanks for you interest, there should be models left, I believe that most retailers have ordered more locomotives than they have had pre-orders as they are expecting demand to be high. To answer your questions. The none sound version can be upgraded later if necessary, there is space for an EM1 size speaker and also a spot to solder in a sugar cube speaker to the main board if that's the way you wanted to go, however ESU have warned us that combining the two will overdrive the V5 chip so we wouldn't recommend using both. The sound fitted version comes with a custom ESU speaker system. As for sound by Legomanbiffo, no his files are not the same as the ones that will be on the loco from the factory, I assume it is just his normal class 56 files, he has had no involvement in the project. The sound project that we are using has been custom recorded by ESU and ourselves at Shrewsbury, and put together to work as an organic system with the locomotive and it's features. Whilst Biffos sound will probably work fine with our loco they are not custom to our model. As for radius, we have run the locomotive extensively on various layouts, I believe the Barrow Hill one has 2nd radius but don't quote me, and have encountered no issues so far.
  12. No problem. We are happy to oblige.
  13. No problem. We will get some drawings on here tomorrow.
  14. We have no doubt a Bachmann 56 will follow their 69, based on logic alone. However we are still very confident in our model given what we have put into the project and how detailed and accurate the model has turned out to be.
  15. Hi we have the artwork for these but it's a long job extracting them for publication. What is the reason that you need to see these? I really don't understand?
  16. These are the new horn grill revisions.
  17. What is it that you need to see? All of the models will have the correct grills/cab styles that the prototype had. 049 for instance has different cabs at each end as per the prototype due to crash damage.
  18. Drivers to be available separately. We had drivers scanned especially by ModelU. Details to be finalised.
  19. Hi Chris, I have no idea why they are derailing on straight and large radius curves. None of our 36 wagon rakes do this. Are you able to assess what is causing them to derail? Are the couplings sat straight and engaged correctly. Are there any hooks engaging down the side of the hoop producing pressure laterally that is pushing the wagon off to the side? If it's a coupling engagement issue then the hunt couplers would solve that as there is nothing to cause a lateral force on the wagon in that case. It's hard to diagnose without being able to see what it going on. Regards Cav
  20. He Chris, I'm not sure what the issue is. We have a few sets of 36 hoppers which all run fine with no derailments at all. I would not advise loosening the coupler as it's designed to hold the NEM pocket in the correct spot. As a replacement for tension locks (hate them personally anyway) you could use Kadees or even better and more cost effective the pivoted hunt magnetic couplers. Let us know how you get on. If you have any further issues please get in touch. Regards Cav
  21. No the axle ends are held in brass bearings that also act as pick up contacts therefore no wipers that require bending. The plastic parts in the centre make no contact with any other plastic except the geared portion in the centre for the drive train.
  22. As production of our eagerly awaited class 56 presses on we would just like to remind our customers that the locomotive also has the option of drop in replacement wheelsets for both EM and P4 scales. Our painted sample of 56049 on the Excellent Pwellheli P4 layout. Pre-production EM wheelsets on our Black Country Blues EM layout If you haven't been able to check out our wheelset change video before, you can do so below. If you have pre-ordered a Cavalex Models class 56 already and are a finescale modeller requiring drop in wheelsets to suit your trackwork please contact your Cavalex Models stockist and add them to your order now for just £19.99 per set of six axles.
  23. Great to see you and the layout again at DEMU over the weekend.
  24. Yes the latest samples that we showed everyone at Crewe over the weekend went down very well indeed. Since the side grill frames have been corrected and the horn grille modifications that we specified have been implemented we are very happy indeed. Me and Alex spent a lot of time looking over the models at the weekend on the stand and our OCD consensus was, that in an ideal world where anything is possible, we would not change a single thing on it. That is a bold statement, granted, and one that surprised us just as much when we said it to each other. We are very proud of what we have been able to achieve with the class 56 here at Cavalex and our factory has done themselves proud with this to realise our dream. The only thing to beat that now will be to get them delivered to our customers and let them enjoy them as much as we do.
