  1. Hi again.... With Telford just around the corner, is anyone aware of whether our wait for the JLTRT Class 47 is about to end? If so, I'd like to know if it's going to be possible to buy the kit at the show. I think I need to get my head around which variation I'll be buying, rather than be all a dither on the day. Randall
  2. Hi again... Fellow Swansea RMG club member Steve Giffard brought a tiny bluetooth speaker to the club on Thursday... It's called Smartbox, and it's the one shown in the video in my previous post about Bluerail trains. I spent no more than two hours yesterday installing the device into a 4mm Heljan Class 47. I had to discard the speaker and replace it with a 40mm x 28mm one from Maplin. Here is a link to my 7mm demo of onboard Bluetooth sound.... Smartbox 4mm installation:
  3. Thanks for your support Phill....There is a new Bluetooth standard being introduced soon with a range of a couple of hundred metres or even further. https://www.bluetooth.com/news/pressreleases/2016/06/16/-bluetooth5-quadruples-rangedoubles-speedincreases-data-broadcasting-capacity-by-800 With regards to further developments, I've just installed a bluetooth module / speaker / battery into my.... whisper whisper....4mm Heljan Class 47.... regards Randall
  4. Phill...When I started putting forward my ideas for using onboard Bluetooth sound on RMweb, (even though I never tried to hide the fact), I received unwarranted criticism because you have to run the trains to match the sounds you hear. What do you think, and is there anything you could suggest to improve things? It's not perfect, but it's high quality on the cheap. Regards Randall
  5. Phill.... I have to say I am absolutely thrilled that you've adopted Bluetooth for your loco sounds. As your garden layout is no doubt the one that EVERYONE dreams of having, it's no small feat for me sharing some ideas with someone as highly respected as yourself. I can see that you've left the Anker module intact, wheras I dismantled my Veho to make installation and operation as easy as possible. I mounted the module in such a way that I could reach the on/off switch from beneath the loco, and also drilled a small unobtrusive hole through which I can insert the battery charging plug. I presume you are removing the loco body to access the on/off switch and recharge the battery? My loco bodies are permanently reassembled. Best regards Randall
  6. Hi Phill... Great to see you've made some progress with Bluetooth sounds... the quality really is good isn't it? I've had lots of distractions recently and modelling has taken a back seat and I've lost interest (again) somewhat. A chap from the Guild has been in touch having seen my thread on the Guild forum, and reading between the lines I think he's going to ask if I can give a demo at Telford. Have you put the speaker and module onboard...if so, how? (which loco by the way?) Randall
  7. Football Association of Wales made £20,000 profit last year.... Wales progress in the competition thus far has netted the FAW £11.3million... This'll really help our grassroots football unearth a couple more Gareth Bales... Roll on Friday!!! Randall
  8. £400 Rule 4 deduction makes a 20/1 winner feel like a loser....well for a couple of hours anyway

  9. Hi Rich.... I'm really looking forward to watching developments...right up my street. Your plans look fairly ambitious, and it's great to see that you are prepared to push the boat out a little bit with regards to using bespoke lasercut buildings....It bodes well for a high quality Corporate Blue era layout. I'm impressed that you're planning ahead by reserving a page dedicated to indexing your efforts...bodes well for a storyline of progress over the coming months if your opening posts are anything to go by. Certainly nothing boring or uninteresting so far... I'll be along for the ride...no worries Randall

There'll be more tears - of laughter - if Lineker presents the new season of MoTD in just his underpants.

  19. Went to Reading today and Addison Road was definitely the highlight for me. An absolute masterpiece in the making. Randall
  20. Hi... I just have to support this venture, so I've let my heart rule my head and I've just placed an order for the GFY version... High spec 7mm diesels at a sensible price...deserves to succeed! I hope to be lured back soon to order the next offering. Good luck Randall
  21. Hi Steve... Most impressive...You've ploughed the road and shown how nice they turn out. Ideal for my Costleigh layout so I really must get one or three for myself. Randall
  22. Hi Bill... I remember searching high and low for more photos on the internet when you appeared as Guest Layout on EMgauge70’s a while back....thanks for posting it up for us RMwebbers to enjoy...ticks all the right boxes for me. I hope you get many invites. Love the shots of the multiple unit... Do you run Mk1 passenger or any parcels stock? What length of train can you accomodate in the fiddle yards? Randall
  23. Hi Steve... Just wondering if you've heard anything recently? Maybe something tangible to see at ALSRM Reading? Randall
  24. Hi Rod...The fur certainly looks good....I particularly like the cutout around the signal in the first image... I read somewhere quite recently that people have had success getting grass to stand up using a statically charged balloon. Worth a try? Randall
  25. Thanks Allan..very much appreciate your kind words - I will grow a pair and stand up to him then ;-) Randall
