  1. Hi Marc... Thanks again for the encouragement.... It means a lot as your work is itself truly inspirational. The walls of the Mine building are, as you rightly say, Wills - Random Coarse Stone to be precise. I've used several items supposedly meant for 4mm scale, but they are overscale, really, and suit 7mm without looking out of place. The Knightwing Security Fencing, and the Ratio Drainpipes come to mind. Yep!, and I've also used Wills Corrugated Asbestos for the Coal Screen roof. (If you refer back to one of the earlier photos of this building, you'll see that I had originally laid Slaters 7mm tiles on the roof - I wasn't happy, so I replaced the roof). Gordon Gravett is one of my favourite modellers - I absolutely love Ditchling Green. Things are still at a standstill though, as distractions have got in the way. However, I promise that I will take things forward this week and order the paint, at the very least. I half-promised that I would take Maenol Mine to the RMWeb meet at Chacewater last June, but I decided to make several changes and they set me back. Perhaps that might be one for the diary in 2010, or maybe the Taunton SWAG meeting??? Cardiff might be another.... Who would I get in touch with? (if they're prepared to forgive the 3-2 result at the weekend, of course ) How is your 7mm Micro coming along?.... You've probably finished it already? Randall
  2. Hi Stu... I've noticed that you have a dilemma with regard to maybe having to mix gauges. However, you also posed a question yourself regarding whether small NG tipper wagons would have the capacity to keep the conveyor busy.?
  3. Hi Marc.. Thanks for the encouragement... No such luck, I'm afraid... and I'm now becoming desperate to get things finished... The only paint available at the Cardiff exhibition on Saturday was RailMatch - I used Precision Track Dirt as the base coat for Maenol's walls. Perhaps I can convince Mrs RW to come for a "run in the car" this week sometime. Or maybe I should use Royal Mail? I put off mail order pending my visit to Cardiff. Anyway, there's not that much left to do... 1. Paint the new mine building. 2. Cut a layout backboard and fit. 3. Detail-paint the internals/externals of the Coal Screen building. 4. Final Assembly of the Coal Screen building. 5. Detail the area in front of the new mine building. 6. Finish off the grassworks and the trackbed weathering. 7. Fit the fencing around the graveyard. 8. Detail the Monument area. 9. Fit the Fiddleyard. 10. Acceptance Testing. Not neccesarily in that order... At my modelling pace, another year should see things rounded off... ?
  4. To update those interested, Maenol Mine is still unfinished because I am in need of a specific paint base colour to finish the stone walls of the new mine building. I hope to pick up a tin at the Cardiff exhibition this weekend. If an attending trader is reading this??¦.please bring a tin or spray can of Precision Track Colour P991 ??“ you??™ve got a buyer.?
  5. Hi Stu... The hopper and conveyor sound interesting. What scale will it be? 7mm? There's an excellent working conveyor system described in BRM this month. Fen End Pit by forum member Dave Barham (BarhamD). Looking forward to seeing things develop. Randall
