Prototype for everything corner.

The flickr caption says Or “Advertising train of BR as a guest in Munich 1971” There are more in that collection of the same train, e.g. “Come and see Britain by Rail” on DB975074 and DB975073: and cinema coach DW150353 I wish the flickr captions would get displayed here - save a to of to-ing and fro-ing -

Old-style road sign referencing pre-nationalisationgrouping (thanks @Wickham Green too) railway company, Strood, with the Paddock Wood train in the platform. -

Grand Central's guarantee - worth the paper it's written on? Don't know how many of these reservation tickets they had printed, but I've seen it twice, many months if not years apart. -
Jim’s “out and about with GBRf” thread

Worth a look, definitely. In fact the whole Castlefield area's pretty interesting. The nearby science and industry museum is a bit limited at the moment though, having a refit. -
Annual occurrence I think - I’ve seen them there a couple of times in recent years (N of Rotterdam where the HS line branches off).

If it’s any help, the photo on https://eisenbahnstiftung.de/ has a caption, but you can’t link to it directly. However, if you go to https://eisenbahnstiftung.de/bildergalerie and search the loco number, 18 316, it’s 2nd from the end. To save you the trouble, here’s the caption Paraphrasing, Carl Bellingrodt [the photographer] located it as Memmingen, but it appears to be 18 316 from the loco test facility at Minden with a measurement (test?) train during a water stop at Bebra. First coach from DSB (Denmark), then a British BR* one. June 1956. *I’m assuming BR = British Railways, by analogy with the DSB mention, rather then BR=Bundesreihe (~class)! If it was a Mk1 it would be very early for a conversion to measurement use, although such a conversion could also entail adding a ducket, if that’s what it is. -

Tram-Trains for Sheffield to Rotherham
eastwestdivide replied to purpledoor's topic in Trams & Tramway Modelling
Work continues on the Parkgate park and ride car park photographed above (how many times can I put “park” into a sentence?), and meanwhile go-ahead has been given for a new tram stop at Magna on the heavy rail section, e.g https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-68556755 with a focus on providing more park and ride capacity: Two platforms and a bridge. Magna is here (google maps): https://maps.app.goo.gl/ixMFSZFdp1etD5Da8?g_st=ic -

For clarity, PPX = the TOPS code for escort coach, dual braked (rather than the prefix to the number) -
The gantry crane over on the right is part of Booths scrapyard, and was still there (most of it) yesterday when I took this photo: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/forums/topic/135855-dmu-photography-away-from-the-three-quarter-view/?do=findComment&comment=5456041 There’s still a rickety shed where that one is bottom right. Maybe the same one! The two white buffer stops centre mark roughly where the Holmes Chord dating from 1987 now diverges to join the Midland route into Sheffield. The tram-trains follow the shiny rails of the GC route running through the centre of the photo. Edit: Google maps street view, as near as I can get it: https://maps.app.goo.gl/HQww1VYTVJ9dpsYW7

Probably a few years away from ending up there, 195012 passes Booths scrapyard in Rotherham. Unusually posh train for the Leeds/Sheffield stoppers, but this was down to disruption earlier causing mixed up diagrams.
