      Not just Donny, but all over the north. But my mum says she remembers her grandmother saying it (in East Kent of all places, no northern connection). So a bit of research led to the discovery that she probably heard it on the radio from Tommy Handley's ITMA, a show which I'd vaguely heard of from my elders.

      How many pieces though? You can change the number and size of the pieces.

      I reckon the photoshopped super-long train actually makes it easier to fill in.

      "just failed to pull off the landing"

      translation:

      "exploded in smoke and flames"

       

      and from "regular SpaceX webcast commentator John Insprucker"

      "We've just got to work on that landing a little bit"

    Got anew spell checker thing. So everything I say should make sense from now on.

      Yeah, it’s a pity there isn’t a context checker as well as a spell checker. That might help pick up using a correctly-spelled word that isn’t actually the one you want, like my “singed” instead of “signed” above.  
      I blame the English language for having a spelling system that doesn’t correspond very well to the sounds of the language.

      I had a small party coming up, so I went to buy one of those balloons printed with "your message here". The shopkeeper told me it was £5 for the balloon, £10 for printing and £99 if I wanted it blown up with helium. I said that sounded expensive. He said "that's inflation for you".

    Replacing battery in old iPhone. Scary.

      Sounds OK - I had to deal with 5 different types of screw, 2 strips of hard-to-budge adhesive, a cable that you could have snapped if you opened the two halves without knowing it was there, two connector covers and about 5 connectors to disconnect.
