  1. There is a small section of what appears to be original tram track to the rear of the main Council House in Birmingham. It is about long enough to house a tram car so I wonder if it was ever used to showcase a heritage tram. Does anyone have any information regarding this piece of track?
  2. One of the current fleet of Ansaldo trams is in the Navy and Cream livery (not sure if it has that crest on the side). The livery is not quite right though, I think the cream is too dark. Perhaps Halfords didn't have the correct shade of cream...
  3. I don't think the route to Eastside and Curzon Street is as well progressed. I believe there is still a funding shortfall for that section but the Centenary Square section has been able to get 106 funding from Planning Consents. The Wolves loop is another one that is still in limbo and there is a big debate about the final alignment of the new system as there are several proposals including one that I believe will leave St Georges as a peak time only/emergency stop. @Andy Reichert - It is the T1000 tram driver. He is liquid metal and is a cybernetic organism sent from the future to pilot trams out of their engineering shed... (actually the battery shunter is behind it. I will see if I can find a picture of it.
  4. Whoops. I guess the 14 hour drive from France took its toll on me a bit more than I realised!!! The Waterstones building is actually being altered as you rightly say with the trams running close to it I think they have taken a chunk out of the corner of the building with the view that pedestrians will still be able to get passed on this side of the road if a tram is coming along.
  5. How did I miss this thread. Here are some pictures of the first few sections of track shortly after being installed: Also, there is now funding in place to take the trams to centenary square. The works for this will kick off shortly after the opening of the line to Stevenson Street as the works cannot seamlessly continue. There will be another two stops which is quite good. The new tram fleet is now arriving at the Metro Depot. I was involved in the extension of the depot site and was luckily able to visit and take some photographs. Whilst this is slightly off topic I thought you might be interested to see it in relation to this thread. Whilst on site I was able to visit the current depot building before it is redeveloped and took some pictures of the Ansaldo T69s. Trams 1 and 2 are on old US army Bogies having been stripped for parts. Tram 5 was being propelled out of the depot building by the battery operated shunter.
  6. You might find some sort of plastic would work well for the concertina sections, perhaps PVC as this would give you flexibility but would be a bit more durable than paper or card.
  7. Some great pictures there of some interesting trams. Thanks for sharing them.
  8. I think my modelling mojo has started to come back!

  9. Going through the torture of PRINCE2 training at the moment. I doubt I will use it for my model railway projects!

Unless it involves making a model of a Ffestiniog loco!

  10. printed my first sheet of decals today. Looking forward to applying them during this week.

  11. Hi Dave, A belated welcome to this area of the forum. Do keep us updated with the progress of your layout. I would love to hear about your n gauge loco collection. Are you a member of the SNCF Society? If not then it is great value and a great resource for modellers. Here is their web site: http://www.sncfsociety.org.uk/Site/Welcome.html All the best Stephen
  12. It was nice to see the layout in he flesh. I had been looking forward to seeing his one for some time nod it did not disappoint. It was a shame I di not have longer to spend at the show. Here a few pictures I managed to capture. Stephen
  13. It has been mentioned on the French Railways section of the Forum: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/62482-hachette-ho-layout/ It looks similar to a French version that was produced last year - hence the discussion.
  14. Perhaps one way around this would be to offer shorter rakes for some buyers. Rather than offering it as a fixed rake perhaps it could be made available on a vehicle by vehicle basis so buyers can build up their rake gradually (which would make sense as it will take some people some time to make each vehicle up). Also, with Virgin looking to procure some Mini Pendolinos in the future for some of their services then, assuming the design is the same, you could do a 5 car set rake which presumably would make it a lot more affordable? When I was looking at 3D printing for some of my fleet I was told that resin casting is a cheaper way to mass produce some items that are expensive to print up. Personally I did not find it a viable option due to the constraints of the model I wanted to produce but it might be an option on a model like this which is bound to be popular!
  15. I have temporarily lost my modelling mojo. I am looking forward to its return after my next holiday.

  16. WOW! Some great stock there and in some ways it is nice to see it in the "as withdrawn" condition. The Turbotrain is fantastic and so is that monocabine 13000 locomotive. They really are excellent designs. Thanks for posting these pictures.
  17. I really dislike it when I have to spend time away from modelling! Hopefully next weekend I can get back to some of the UFOs.

  18. I think I said this before when you mentioned about selling Ring Road but your models are top class high quality bespoke designs that have been featured in the modelling media. I would not be surprised if you got a considerable sum for such a well made layout. I have to say I am impressed by your vision and delivery of each of your layouts from conception to actuality they are interesting and certainly highlight a lot of the features of a city. I am looking forward to seeing this one develop over time.
  19. What a superb set of buildings. I am really impressed with the build quality and certainly envious of the skills used to get the models looking that good. For some reason I am just useless at making models out of styrene sheet (hence why I use card) so I always enjoy seeing how others do these types of models. Hopefully I will get to see this model out on the road at some point. Keep up the good work!
  20. I don't know whether to be depressed or elated that when I do a google search for a subject at least 40% of the images found are my uploads onto rmweb!

I'd go with elated. Elated apparently makes you live 7.5 years longer on average. :)

  21. Todays attempt at airbrushing was a failure. So I had to resort to the old brush method.

  22. just purchased my first part of a 1 foot to 12 inches train. Only a couple of destination plaques but I like the look of them. Now to source some wheels, bodywork, an 820HP engine and the rest...

  23. A sunny bank holiday weekend and I am unable to properly enjoy it because I have a headcold and chest infection!

Unlucky! My sympathies. I can't have too much fun either, as I have to revise!

Thanks, good luck with your revision. I never did so well at revising so you are bound to do better than me!

  24. Superb stuff there, I think the effects on the LNER Gresley carriages are great. It certainly gives them the appearance of being of a considerable age. EDIT - And superb work on the T gauge stock there. Are we to expect a T gauge layout in the future?
  25. That moment when you realise you have forgotten to apply the transfers and you have already weathered the model!

Ow... Though I guess you could just assume the lettering's been renewed, justifying applying a patch of fresh paint, simulating a cleaned spot.
