Yes Jack Frost had visited the workshop🥶. I seem to recall, when I was looking for replacements of split gears (spares shortage), that the 4MT had the same gears as the Bulleid's - which were prone to failure. looked through my scrap loco pile and found the retainers (no gears alas).

sounds like the gears have been replaced - with the incorrect ones. sadly I've not got one.

Spitfire factory tour You'll find this useful, as to what goes on behind the scenes.

So did I, g clamps and Mole grips - what fun I had...

Looks promising, no union flag on the box.

Yes, I got the Beer Glass with Austin K2/Y Ambulance.

The armour range are produce by Academy in South-Korea. The Spitfire is being produced in limited numbers, so I suspect if you pre-order now, you'll get it in early 2023.

According to scalemates the P-40 is all Airfix's own work. They used an injection moulding manufacturer - however they didn't use them during Covid. It's look on the box, as Airfix state where they are manufactured. Though Airfix have changed the plastic, if the Anson and Sabre are anything to go by.

Just to point out that Airfix announced that the Spitfire was being produced in a the UK, quite a while ago in their regular 'Workbench' updates, now the press have got hold of it. It's worth noting to for stash hunters that If the Airfix kit has the Union Flag on the box - it's made in the UK, from memory the 1/72nd scale Avro Shackleton AEW, Handley Page Victor K2 and the 1.48th scale Curtis P-40 and the Quick build kits are (I think). Bizarrely they stopped producing kits in the Uk, because People complained about the Plastic being too hard & brittle lol

Time for another update: Not much this time, I'm afraid. A rarity- a Black 5.. Had an oops moment when I realised the smoke box dart has disappeared.. Needless to say I got creative with Styrene. Fitted some destination boards to some coaches(Sankey scenics) And built a Cambrian Kits GWR 6T Hand Crane and Match Truck. And a big bird I'd forgotten about.. TTFN- 683 replies

Not an unusual thing to happen to any decals, it's usually down to the gloss clear coat not being dry enough and it reacts to the carrier film - hence silvering, it will usually settle down with a few coats of Micro sol (it luckily did for you) or X-20A thinners at a push. Using Micro set can cause issues with decal break up.
