  1. Time for an update - I think. I've done a few bit since my last update, firstly some railway bits. Cambrian 13T Plank wagon Parkside Mica B (4th one I think). Parkside Mink D - repaint Maj Models/Comet GWR Dia. H.26 Restaurant Car. The vehicles.. Springside Coal Lorry Tamiya 1/48th Scale Humber MK.IV Armoured car - a mojo build after the restaurant kit. Tamiya 1/48th Scale Matilda Mk.III/IV Tamiya Finnish Stug III Ausf G. Airfix 1/35th Scale Austin K2/Y Ambulance - there's a Blog entry up on this build.. And finally HMCS Snowberry was Mounted in her display case for the Journey Home..
  2. In away yes, Airfix do the decals (not shown anywhere in the destructions - must be a licensing issue). though in truth 'Katy' the star of the film had a later (4x4) chassis in the film.
  3. So it's been a while (seems like a heart attack and surviving a stroke - was so last year) since I've written a Blog Entry(re-uploading the photo's isn't fun). Long story short, I got this kit on a whim, as I'd seen a few Positive reviews of it on YouTube and I wanted an Airfix Beer Glass! I noticed, well it was pointed out to me that one of the decal options was Her Majesty the Queen's: And then it sat on the shelf in the workshop for a while, as I had a distinct Lack of Modelling Mojo, then the Queen Passed and I thought what better tribute than to build the Queen's (ok Princess Elizabeth's) Ambulance. It should be pointed out that Academy tooled this kit for Airfix(as they do with most of 1/35th Scale kits) and it shows in the kit. yes that is Photo Etch. Now the chassis Built up nicely - shame I put things on upside down(yes, having 80% brain damage has messed things up a tad). This was painted with my new favourite paints Tamiya LP-29 Olive Drab2 and LP-65 Rubber Black. The Ambulance side of things was built up straightforwardly and most importantly fitted - it's a dry fit on the chassis btw. Now once I'd Primed and painted it the interior was glued in Place and everything else was test fitted. So I got on with building it - however trouble loomed ahead, the paint (LP-29) was getting perilously low. Of course I had to wait, Royal Mail were on Strike, so I fitted the roof(s) and some other bits and bobs and did some filling & clean up. Then after what seemed ages - the paint Arrived and I could get on with finishing the Katy off. Now after the Gloss Clear had dried - it was time to apply decals. These went on well, however they are thin - do not use Micro set or warm water to apply them - they'll be tears. These were left overnight until I decided to give them a Slight Semi Gloss (satin) clear coat and fitted all the remaining pieces. It would've been finished there, but I decided to weather it - so out came the oils and the clay washes.. So that's it for now. TBG
  4. OOP's you've upset the Grand Inquisitor of the Men In Malachite - you'll soon know how hot the Iron Bullied is( something few have lived to tell the tale about).....
  5. as the ROD's were built for the war department, yes they would they'd have a radar cross section of a Mallard- DUCK!
  6. Actually it's Tamiya German Grey, Khaki Drab & NATO Black - over a loco resprayed rubber Black - but that's classified stuff,
  7. she's a big heavy beast, it's actually a two piece hull, due to the complex hull shape - which trumpeter have been criticised for.

  10. Sorry, I was just remembering a Story of how his page came into being that's all.
  11. This was taken from Rob's FB page (BR Steam Photo's) this morning: Message from Robbie's family: We are sad to report that Robbie passed away on 26 July, peacefully at his home. We are very proud of his amazing artwork here, a great legacy. Remembered with love, rest in peace Robbie. It came as total shock to me, as I encouraged him to create a FB page, as he was frustrated with the Moderators and Andy Y and had placed him on Moderated status - for his own thread (Hornby's Best Ever Models) and he want to show his work off. His tips on photography were fantastic and his exchanges with me were always interesting, funny and heart-warming over the years. Sadly Rob's Talents will be missed.
  12. I've heard the sad news that Rob has passed away, rest in peace my friend.. here's a few of the best he did for me.
  13. Oh my god, rest in peace Rob
  14. So where was I.... I'm not dead - yet. Just been , busy here, there and everywhere.. Railway bits, the ex GWR Match Truck is done, bar the decals. The seemingly endless Marathon of the Maj restaurant car is nearly done.. Another Ratio GWR Open C is complete. The Springside Bedford coal Truck is progressing (the joy of a white metal Kit) Another Parkside Open B is done. A BR Southern Push Pull set is weathered (repainted the Brake Third). Armour - not much, Just built Tamiya's New tool 1/48th Scale Challenger II (Desertised) And the big one (drum roll Please).. After starting this Project 4 years ago, Revell's 1/72nd Scale HMCS Snowberry is complete. And on that note, time to lie down in a darkened room..
