  1. There is in the November 1962 Model Railway News, a dimensioned drawing of this type of finial. Alan Gibson did or does a lostwax 4mm version. They are good quility, and I use them for my H&B signals. If a 7mm version becomes available, I'd be interested to hear about it.
  2. Mike, Hull Brewery disapered years ago, taken over by Mansfield, and they too I believe now history. Localy, the young "Serving Wenches", look at you daft if you ask for "Mild".
  3. A glass of Shiraz indeed, when I first knew you, it was pint of Hull Brewery Mild, all 1/10 worth. Those were the days!
  4. Mike, a loverly job, and now for a change and forty six years on, time for you to resurect your "Patriot" of 1968. Yours, Mick.
  5. John, "Decency Panels" is the word you are looking for, mind when I worked as a conductor in the 60's and 70's, I still saw some "Good Sights". I then saw the light and became a signalman, and the sights I saw behind Paragon Box, were nothing compared to "On the Buses".
  6. Here is one I dreamed up many years ago. An Hull & Barnsley Rly "Kitson Meyer.
  7. Here is a very early example of "Direction 1st Homes", Alexandra Dock, H&B Rly and as signalled by Saxby & Farmer for the 1885 opening of the railway. I suggest in this case, the "1st Homes" were provided to "Hold the Road" and nothing else.
  8. If and when, you motorize your model have you thought of sound? My recolection of the Hull Trollies and now well over 50 years ago is the "Singing in the Wire" as the Trollies turned through the 90o bend at the corner of Newland Avenue and Princes Avenue.
  9. Correct, it is Stainforth, and my mistake, I have altered the original captions. Thanks, Mick.
  10. Richard, that's what I like to see, how it was really done, not that, from a model making point of view it would make much differance.
  11. Lifted from a text book, but explains how the wres are arranged in a pole route.attachment=4894:Copy of TELEGRAPH POLE 9.jpg]
  12. Yes, i recall Stainforth fringed to the PSB, Your explanation makes sense and seems logical. Not the same heading, I also have numerious detail photo's of mechanical signalling, rodding and wire runs etc. possibly worthy of a seperate thread. Mick.
  13. I too know little off the area, all I recall is a mate and I were out with our cameras to catch the passing of Stainforth signalbox. I took the picture knowing I was never likerly to see the likes of it again. Attached is the next "Frame".
  14. Kevin, here is a "Coronation" trolley, and unusualy on Princes Avenue route. You will remember the area from the "Posh" school you went to. I remember Botanic Crossing from when I worked in the shop Jan 1966 to Feb 1969.
  15. Steve, the ladder arrangement you mention is/was quite common on the former Eastern Region. I will see what pictures I have.
  16. I bought Jenolite a few months back, it still contains Phosphric Acid, and now comes in Paste form, but didn't work too well as a flux, there are obviously other additives.
  17. I bought a bottle of Phos Acid flux from Hobby Hollidays, £4.50, but a very expensive way of buying what is little more then water.
  18. I'm sure you could make a good job of a "Proper Locking Frame", Electro/Mechanical locking can soon be sorted.
  19. Do the "Full Monty" and also include Full Rotation Locking, for One Pull Only.
  20. A couple of pictures of part of the locking on my home brewed 16 lever frame.
