  1. Suzi says she doesn't think you've changed at all! Yes, I'm still the same and youthfull, I put it down to "Good Living". No lever cloth?! Posed picture, lever cloth on the Gate Stop lever. Mick.
  2. The nearest "Iron Bridges" to "Drain North" was approx 1 mile west at Southcoates Lane and Southcoates Station. Nevertheless, would make a very interesting project in 7mm scale. Mick.
  3. The LNER had mechanically worked colour lights, the subject was written up in the SRS magazine some years ago, a few years later there was also several pictures published in "British Railways Illustrated magazine. There was photo's of the Kemp Town P Way in the Railway Modeller c1956, I have it here. Mick.
  4. Slowly comming on, and most of the accident damage now repaired. Mick.
  5. Dear Mike, please see below for details. I lifted this from a few pages back. Mick. I managed to track down some 'English Garden Wall' and 'American Bond' embossed plastic sheet in 4mm scale. They are South Eastern Finecast (product codes FBS423 and FBS414 respectively), but do not feature on the SEF website (though the American Bond is quoted in the price list). Judging by the product code, the English Garden Wall may be a new/recent product. I got mine through Expo Tools website. Hope this helps someone.
  6. Now to plan the build of Hessle Haven signal box, regretably too early to include a 4mm model of Mick, busily pulling off that distant. A bit like the attached, taken almost 30 years ago, the box closed two months later. Mick.
  7. Now to plan the build of Hessle Haven signal box, regretably too early to include a 4mm model of Mick, busily pulling off that distant. Mike, I don't know if you are aware, proper "Garden Wallbond" brick sheet is now available from South East Finecast, or similar name. I have not yet seen any. Mick.
  8. The attached, possibly explains why the signal bridges and brackets at Hessle Haven looked in later years bigger than nead be. The trackwork on Mike's model is a little more complex, as in 1935 further connections were laid in for the "New Inward Yard". Mick.
  9. Mike, you asked about the age etc of the various signal brackets and bridges at Hessle Haven. There were actualy two of each, and all brought into use late 1912 or early 1913, the exact date "Haven" box opened is unkown to me, but it is known, the BoT inspected the new works in February 1913. All four signals were still in use October 1964, but the two Up signals were replaced by a colour light before the year was out. The Down bracket lasted until 6 April 1975. I don't know if any M&H brackets now survive, but one bridge remains at Harrogate, or it did until recently, can anyone please confirm? Mick.
  10. By the time I got to "Haven" your bracket had long gone, but I wish I had a pound for everytime I "Pulled Off" the colour light replacement. Mick.
  11. Richard, I'm pleased to learn you "Have made it Legal", me and the missus "Have been waring for 42 years" and we are still together, three kids, and nine grandkids later. As my late father used to say, and himself a signalman, "Get that Distant Off". Best Wishes, Mick.
  12. By teatime, last night's beer had worn off and I was in the mood for some serious work. I soon had the two posts assembled and edged with brass angle and the span erected. I think I will keep away from "The Wild Women" tonight, plus "Mrs Nich" is not too pleased of me coming in at 0100hrs turned in the morning, no sense of humor. Mick.
  13. My next job is to rebuild the damaged signal bridge I mentioned a few posts ago. First task was to soak it in paint remover, and mainly as an aid to dismantling it and in true impoverished LNER style, recover as many reusable parts as practical. Mick.
  14. Apart from connecting up the "Main Line" arm, the signal is now as good as finished. A bit of weathering needed, but best done when installed on the layout. mick.
  15. The bracket signal is now rebuilt and is almost ready for final painting and the odd detail etc. Mick.
  16. Fantastic layout, loverly signals. Keep up the good work, Mick
  17. A few weeks ago, a mate's layout when in transit took a bit of a beating. Among otherthings two of the signals were well damaged, see photos. The bracket is presently under repair, and apart from needing a new main stem is in reasonable condition. The bridge is a different story, and apart from the dolls looks as though it will be all new work. Mick.
  18. James, I see your point, but not so, a lot has also happened Paragon to Gylberdyke: CLOSEING DATES. 19. Only a matter of time before the lots gone, and all in the hands of a computer geek forty or more miles away, great until something goes wrong, can't beat a man on the ground and with local knowledge, such is progress. Mick.

  21. A few posts back you asked the purpose of the "Wooden Box" on concrete legs, as I said at the time a early style location box. Just found the attached, and unusualy, both a wooden and steel box side by side. The picture dates from c1999, and I believe was taken at Howden, just before the box was abolished and replaced by "MAS". Mick.
