  1. Never thought I'd be putting any pictures on this thread but I was messing around with a new compact camera on a recently finished part of the layout and.......
  2. Or "Prolific in Southern Swad" or "P1ss" for short !
  3. Love the "weathering" on that one. Not filthy......just work stained.
  4. What's the difference between an Essex girl and a walrus? One's got whiskers and smells of fish.........the other one lives in the sea !
  5. Or Sleepers. There are a few pics on the Cyberheritage site that show piles of sleepers at approximately that location although the piles are not as high as they appear in the above photo. On the subject of the Cyberheritage site Rich, I don't know when you last visited but there have been more photos added in recent months.
  6. Word is, some of these are going to be available in the next couple of weeks. Will believe it when I see it but I remain hopeful.
  7. 37/0 without skirts for preference but I'd be just as happy with a 37/4. I would have thought a triple grey without markings would have a pretty broad appeal.
  8. Was thinking exactly the same Rob............I thought you were reducing your 31 fleet !
  9. I have that book too and when I first saw that picture, I thought it looked more like Sharpness than Gloucester.
  10. They may have mostly run as 3 car units but most of the other loco hauled passenger trains in the area/era that I model had at least 7 coaches and often as many as 12. All my passenger (and freight) trains are shorter than the prototype so I don't have a particular problem with a 2H instead of a 3H although a centre car would be nice.
  11. Been waiting for the NSE version for so long, I have been seriously considering buying a Connex one and getting it resprayed. They've finally announced it and it's debranded! Why oh why oh why? I guess it's a case of ordering a set of transfers too then !
  12. B*****d !!! Had that in my watch list and then forgot all about it !!!!!
  13. Yes the silos could do with a little bit more weathering but different materials weather in different ways. Moss needs moisture to form and the corrugated surfaces of the building would probably be "mossier" than the silos as the high bits of the corrugations would cast some shade over the lower bits which would mean that moisture would linger for longer. Similarly, the North side of any building would also start to turn green before the South side as it would spend more time in the shade. The Palvans look good Ian. New etched brake hand wheels from 51L also lift the appearance (along with shaving down the existing brackets) especially as you. seem to be missing one or two ! The rest of it looks great.
  14. Thought I'd post it on here rather than send a PM as there appears to be a bit of interest in these again lately. Jon, do you have any more of the bogie etches? I could use 3 of them and perhaps an underframe to have a play with too. Thanks
  15. This is really good news although, for me, it would be better if it were the other way around. ie. Class 74 first. Can't use a 71 but could find room for 3x 74s. It's really great to see the amount of enthusiasm for something that wasn't around for long and which was restricted to a fairly small geographical area.
  16. I was referring to people's occasional tendency to call them Robin Reliants with the model name before the manufacturer's name rather than Reliant Robins. Something nobody does with any other car as far as I know. Sorry to Jim for wandering off topic.
  17. I think the same person wrote that statement as made the error in the first place and they're about 9 years old!
  18. I should probably post this somewhere else but I would like to say that people's personal collections like this are absolute gold. They are of times and places that are long gone and can never be revisited. In a context like RMWeb, they provide evidence of all kinds of things large and small that may not exist elsewhere. There must be thousands of prints and slides in shoeboxes up and down the country with priceless images. I hate to think how many have been destroyed because their owners considered them to be of no value. You don't ever need to apologise for lack of quality, just for not posting them fast enough !!! They are all gems. Thanks again.
  19. Really enjoying this thread. Thanks for posting all these photos and keep them coming.
  20. Excellent news about the speaker enclosures for the Heljan 33. Which speaker(s) will this be aimed at> Don't suppose it will be the 28mm round>
  21. I like the Colas livery but it doesn't suit the Cl 70 at all and, IMHO, emphasises the awkward areas of the styling rather than complimenting it or disguising it. The Freightliner livery, I think, works better .
  22. What time was that Jo? I've been working with a view of the railway all day and didn't see it!
  23. Isn't saying Lancashire is better than Yorkshire or vice versa a bit like saying syphilis is better than gonorrhoea ???
