  1. HI Jon,

Glad it all went ok, and you didn't have too many bits to stick back on. Best of luck with round two I am sure it will be ok this time.

The extra work on the chassis is superb I really need to do some sanding pipes on a class 37 and hadn't thought of useing elastic, I have used it on some DMU speedo cables in the past so will still have some laying around. I used elastic from an old bungi cord ( think thats what you call'em). Looking forwards to the next loco what do you think you will do next?

    Cheers Peter.

  2. Hi Jon,

I am gutted for you mate, and understand what must be going through your mind, as yes it's happen'd to me. You spend hours on a model only to fail at the last thing. I won't carry on about what I did, but you will find it happen's to everyone at some point.

I think stripping the paint may be the way to go but I would try T cut and see if you can't cut back the paint and get a better finish failing that, If you are worried about bits falling off when you strip the body try using thinners on a cotton bud if the paint hasn't fully hardened you mat get a fair bit off.

When you come to repaint the body as I am sure you will in the next few weeks, try railmatch as the others have said it is pretty good. The other thing I would try is use matt paint. I can understand why you used gloss as you want to add waterslide transfers and need to hide the carrier film. I use Replica rub on numbers data panels and double arrows, they can be a pain to get straight but using masking tape to give you a straight line to work from really helps, If you stuff one up just rub it off a try another one. You can then varnish the model and you are done.

Hope this has been of some help.

    Cheers Peter.

  3. Hi Jon,

Looking great mate, good to see you have pushed on with this project I think you will find it's all been well worth while. I honestly think you will have the best 4mm Deltic out there. I know you were thinking about the roof grilles but I think that the Bachmann molding is pretty good plus adding an etch that big could be too noticable, if that makes sence.

Can't help with the painting tip, do you have a wagon or spare loco body that you could practice with.

I find that I have to be in the right mood for painting a loco, even when it comes to weathering. My class 40 was waiting to be weathered for nearly a year before I felt like doing it.

Look forwards to seeing what your next loco project is going to be.

    Cheers Peter.

  4. Hi Jon,

Hope you enjoy your Deltic Bash.:D

Once again top work on the bufferbeam, and those last two pics, wow.B)

I also think the Hornby pipes are a bit thin, but as Nick said the Shawplan pipes are pretty good I have used them on a few loco's. The recent Bachmann pipes that came with my class 47s were pretty good too, you might be able to get them as a spare.

Also not sure when ETS started to be used, I am sure it was called it ETH in the 80s.:D ;)

    Cheers Peter.

  5. Hi James,

37013 looks great, problem is you need to do your other 37s now. It's one of the problems with model railways I find if you add extra detail to one loco in the class you have to go through the others and improve them, sometimes feels like you are going backwards, when you think you have finished a model and you end up pulling it to bits to add more detail. Cetainly worth doing though.:D

    Cheers Peter.
