  1. Backscene. As an occasional visitor to the East Lancs I was thinking of the surrounding moors, reflecting the railway is in a valley. Looking on Google Street View Bacup seems to be similar. A view to the east from Lodge Lane on the west side of the valley perhaps gives an idea of a fairly gentle skyline that could be hinted at in muted tones?
