  7. I would have thought that, as the railway as a whole seems to be on a raised "viaduct" above the general ground level, we would be seeing the top of a gable end of a building fronting onto the road passing beneath the bridge, and therefore its ground level same as the road. As there is a retaining wall this side to raise the ground for the railway would expect similar on other side. i.e. as gable end of house on opposite side of road. Possibly a gap between the wall and the building. This possibly also calls into question the retaining walls behind the railway further left, whereas at this side of the line it is still on the raised up area. Although this less likely if you have assumed the railway is built on side long ground. Steps from a private building on to railway land seem unlikely? The buildings opposite the end of the KWVR platforms at Keighley may be a similar situation - there is a bridge under the line and I seem to recall a pretty run down industrial premises in a similar position. Hope this helps! Your layout and progress is impressive!
  8. Seem to be selling well at Falkirk exhibition on Saturday! Author in attendance signing copies. Not had a chance to look at the one I bought, but if page count is anything to go by then it is excellent value!
  9. I'm suggesting for 4mm scale. I'm looking for: Accurate models - details and finishing; suitable for conversion to EM (and P4); price competitive with Bachmann equivalents. Some potential models: Class 100 DMU. Class 06 diesel shunter. LNER J36 (Made preserved example exists). Caley 0-4-4 tank (preserved example exists). Bog standard wagons, not yet produced by Bachmann suitable for Big four and BR through to the 70s. Too many possibilities to go into specifics, but BR standard 16T mineral (riveted version, see relevant thread for a recent table of numbers produced), LMS vans/opens and an LMS cattle van seem pretty obvious starting points. Regards,

  13. Steps. Plastruct do ready made steps. http://plastruct.com/Pages/OnlineProductDetail.lasso?-op='eq'&CCode=STA-4 You can also buy the moulding from a "prototype models" signal box kit that includes steps. I think I got one from Freestone Models. Also "Tichy Trains", but doubt they have a UK stockist. https://www.tichytraingroup.com/Shop/tabid/91/c/ho_structure-parts/p/8208/SearchValue/stairs/Default.aspx

  15. Found the mineral one myself the other day, and was going to ask the same question!
  16. Picked up a flyer from D Blades stand at Bonnybridge for a new George C. O'Hara book: BR Steam in Scotland. ISBN: 978-0-9530821-2-4. £25.00. On-line info I found: http://www.billhudsontransportbooks.co.uk/selected-product.php?prod=br+steam+in+scotland&pid=7162 Please consider buying from a shop or society stand that supports railway preservation!

  18. Half a shiny MCV: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ron_h/5588239266/in/pool-class_24_25_26_27_sulzer_diesels/ A couple of pretty rusty specimens, March 1967: http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/5549680137/in/pool-class_24_25_26_27_sulzer_diesels/ I think we might have had the latter one already? Apologies if so.
  19. Apologies if listed before: http://www.flickr.com/photos/eric_the_duck/8116898521/in/pool-class_24_25_26_27_sulzer_diesels/ Eastfield depot 17/04/76. Presumably a re bodied example? Just a pity not quite all in frame! Slightly relaxed interpretation of end door stripe, i.e. top end probably below hinge level?
  20. Apologies if we've had these before: D5128 Inverness depot 14/09/70: http://www.flickr.com/photos/68861278@N03/8392833268/ 5129 and 5127 at Perth 24/06/72: http://www.flickr.com/photos/68861278@N03/8359915915/

  22. Interesting stuff with the interlocking members - was the chop blade just the right width for the material? I'm sure you've planned out where cable runs go, but would it be worth drilling holes in the !internal" lengths where you've not drilled holes already, to allow for future changes of plan, or additions? Presumably wouldn't affect board strength, but might build in a bit of redundancy? Anyway, just a thought! What are the plans for the walls? Thought you might have sprayed them when you were doing ceilings? Keep up the good work and updates! Cheers, 26power
  23. Closure notice. Don't think we've had this link before? http://www.flickr.com/photos/36844288@N00/3997814741/in/set-72157622431648709 Cheers, 26power
  24. Roof/slates look pretty good to me! Even look weathered, although you say that still needed? (I'm looking at shade variation at left hand end). It might br the picture, but the only very slight nit that might be picked is that just above the holes the row spacing looks a bit off? Having said that I would be very happy with that on the roof I've to slate and keep putting off! Trust this is of some slight assistance! Cheers, 26power
  25. "Lozenges" had me confused for a second or two! More generally known as totems, but can't help with your actual queries! Wonder if the wooden sign supports might just have been indeterminate brown/black/weathered? Impressed with the layout, buildings and speed of progress. Cheers, 26power.
