  1. Yup, all of it. Can bin the whole thing for me.
  2. Well they appear to be on the way just had a delivery notice from DPD that one from Rails is due tomorrow.
  3. Yep, a few places, generally they had different overhead, but occasionally trams ran using a skid to rail for current return using trolleybus live. The layout built is fictitious as really Rotherham trolleybuses and Sheffield trams didn't really run over same roads, although there was a very short time post war when it was very close....my build is a bit of an extension on that.
  4. Rotherham Daimler posing on current layout build, track is fabricated girder rail in EM, all dead rail with battery/radio control for trams and trolleybuses.
  5. There's more on there, but it is a pain to use. Plus my understanding is that the UK rights to it did not go to Andy Reicheart....I may be wrong on that so don't quote me! What I do know, is that if that is the case, there won't be any coming from the source that claims it. So it would have to come from the US.
  6. For those who may feel like having a go at tram style overhead. Ask anyone who's done any and they'll all have their own preferred methods..... This is mine, Mark Hughes etched fittings with 0.3mm straight nickel silver wire (available in yard lengths from Eileen's Emporium). I prefer straight wire as you're not fighting to pull it straight, do all span wires then attach folded ears to wire as required, dab of solder paint and it's all solid. You can then go round curves in a series of straight lines, although I doubt you'll have to go anywhere near tram radius! You can joint yard lengths in an ear too, there are frogs, pull offs and board joints within the range, very easy to use, if you can solder you can do tram overhead especially if as mentioned above you're using pantographs or bows. Whole job will be solid and will easily cope with being bounced around in the back of a van and sticking your hand under to clean track....I know, I did it plenty! Hope Andy doesn't mind me using his photo taken for BRM some time ago.... Setts same story, ask anyone.....again my preferred method is scribed Knauf Easy Plaster (available from Wickes). Or, just imagine it's there....or anywhere in between 😀
  7. No, far better and easier to use tram overhead fittings are available for from Mark Hughes nowadays.
  8. I think one might end up coming my way, interesting prototype and now I've pretty much sussed how I can do radio controlled/Faller Car System trolleybuses, a nice little interesting layout might be in the offing, setts and tramway type overhead, yeah done plenty of that too. 😄
  9. I think it's 638 I used, they are a very good fit too...
  10. Tramfabriek do them, tho' in brass, I've used them with loctite and they've been fine. They also sell on ebay too.....
  11. Can't see me being in for one, perhaps if it was another one-off banker from more northern climes.... But I clicked on the link to see prices and I'm sure it's probably just a mistake but DCC fitted cheaper than DCC ready on LMS black? Bodes well..... 😃
  12. Many years ago I did a K3 from a V1 chassis and various other bits....Well before the Bachmann K3... It might work the other way round....find a cheap K3 etc.
  13. Rotherham Daimler CTE6 has progressed a bit..... RC chassis is 95% done, basic body shape progressing ok, still a few tweaks then onto detailing..... Hooked it all up tonight for a quick test run, chassis is a widened FCS effort coupled with 100mah lipo driving through a Sol Expert dual axle drive RC from Micron RC. Overall so far so good....
  14. For my current layout build I have been building various RC things, several Faller Car System type vehicles have been equipped, buses, trolleybuses etc, I also wanted to bring the trams under the same control so have come up with a 34mm w/b SPUD type mech for them. It's basically a Tramfabriek 1020d motor driving through Tenshodo gears, the motor is offset to all the Deltang Rx41d-v5 receiver to sit alongside in a small pocket. It's 18.2mm gauge, yeah I'm probably the only EM tram modeller using a dead rail system!! Battery will live in a box above with charging socket, switch etc. A test gave 4 hours plus running on the 100mah lipo, so overall it's so far so good. Very much a learning curve for me this so I'm pretty happy that all seems well.
  15. I've recently completed a dead rail battery powered mech for my tram fleet...it's a Tramfabriek 1020 motor driving through tenshodo gears, power is 3.7v lipo and radio control from Micron/deltang. Whilst at crich today I managed to grab a video of it running on the real thing... 510 running on 510's bumper!
  16. Thought this might be an appropriate place to post a pic of the trackwork that I've (not!) been working on....seeing as all the other ones have gone.... As mentioned earlier in the thread, fabricated girder rail from 3 sections with knauf easy plaster road surface....4mm/EM

    On Cats

My wife is a very soft touch....... Meet Rio, 9 weeks old and taken on because 'previous owner' took her back....yeah I know too early and all that, now pretty much ruling the roost.... When we got Eric, our first cat the deal was I got to name them, so Rio joins Eric, George, Denis, Bobby. Norman, Teddy.....you may see a theme... I just say yeah now cos it's cheaper than getting divorced again....😀
  18. Having pretty much sussed the Rotherham Daimler Roe rebuilds....4 currently in various stages thoughts turned to the original Daimler CTE6 East Lancs single deckers... Whilst there is a resin kit out there I've never seen one and to be honest others from the same stable don't really do it for me.... So enter a bitsa....lots of various bits hacked and cobbled together....so far so good so I'll start on the chassis which will be basically the same in function to the ones in the double deckers. Pic of prototype also for those not aware of them....I'll leave it to the readers to let me know if it looks nothing like it should!
  19. Fitted the RC gear to the trolleybus, lots of refinements to make yet but so far so good....
  20. Another one done, EFE Yorkshire Traction PS2 Windover, lightly reworked with a bit of weathering etc, same build as before 3.7v battery, Nigel Lawton motor in Faller mount, Faller gears, widened front axle, sol expert wheels etc.....
  21. Yeah......seen it several times, I've a fair bit of experience with road stuff.....my old layout was reasonably well known for 'other stuff'
  22. First test run of a Rotherham Daimler/Roe rebodied trolleybus......A cut and shut from 2 Corgi Roe 4 wheelers gives a reasonable Rotherham Daimler double decker, this again is battery powered but will feature radio control for speed and stop/start. I've gone that way as it makes building the overhead easier, I can solder it all up without having to worry about overscale insulation etc. Shown running on a 3.7v lipo, so nominally 'flat out'. Both rear axles drive, my usual set up Nigel Lawton motor in Faller motor mount, then belt drive to connect axles.....Nigel Lawton belts.....
  23. I have used a number of Bullant belt driven motor units, they were/are superb in operation, quiet, powerful and very reliable, never had belt issues, that said it is a five second job to change one on these. Only downside is that they are NLA........
  24. Slowly getting back into building 'stuff' recently completed are this Rotherham Renown and Sheffield Olympic, Renown is the EFE diecast and Olympic LBC resin kit. Both feature semi scratch front axles using Faller kingpins but wider for use in 4mm vehicles. Motors are Nigel Lawton 12v rated mini motors, which are a direct fit into a Faller motor mount.....coupled with a 3v battery give a decent running speed.
